Jia Yan was busily cultivating in the middle of the courtyard he made his home. He held no spirit stone or things of that ilk; he was instead cultivating to clear his mind.

It was only a few hours ago that he blew up on Zi Yu the way that he did and honestly; it troubled him.

Maybe he was too harsh?

Bap, bap, bap…

A low knocking sound came from the entrance to the courtyard.

Jia Yan opened his eyes and sighed. “Who is it?”

He didn’t know why he asked this question. There were only two people he knew that were in this place.

One, he didn’t expect to come back to visit him so soon, and the other one was…

“It’s Old Bai Young Master,” the aged voice stated.

Right, the previous advisor of the Sect Master of the Blood Crypt Sect, aptly referred to as Old Bai.

“Come in,” Jia Yan was still in the lotus position, and before him was a stone table with a simple tea set atop it.

He did take Zi Yu’s advice into consideration and had a steaming cup of tea to greet anyone who visited him. He thought of how this was only for a limited number of guests and chuckled despite himself.

Old Bai was the one who delivered it at Jia Yan’s behest, but he had yet to drink any, as lost in his thoughts as he was.

The doddering demon eventually arrived in front of him. He had a book in hand at the moment. He was trying to see if Jia Yan had any interest in the books about the history of the Blood Crypt Sect, but he was unsuccessful so far.

Nevertheless, he still tried by bringing over different books to Jia Yan. He wanted to be of use to the young demon in one way or another.

However, after seeing the expression on Jia Yan’s face, he didn’t offer the book he had in hand but offered something else.

“It seems that the Young Master has something on his mind.”
