He quickly summoned the same lion-emblazoned shield as before, but it only lasted a second before it was blasted to bits and the spears ran through him!

The masses stood there, horrified at what they saw.

They stared at the Sect Master of Golden Lion Gate who was in the sky with numerous holes in his body.

His stomach, legs, arms, it would be easier to name a part of his body that wasn’t impaled.

He then fell from the sky under the power of none but gravity. A low thud chronicled his alighting.

“Sect Master!” All the elders rushed over to the body of Sect Master Huang Jianyu. When they arrived, they saw his life force quickly draining away.

Nothing they did could stem the flow of it. Before long, the Sect Master of Golden Lion Gate died.

The elders were all pale and shocked at this development.

“Y-You murderer!” The Grand Elder stood up and pointed at Long Di in anger.

“That is correct. I am a murderer,” Long Di replied, before looking at Pebbles. “Does that make me a psychopath?”

“Based on your mannerisms, maybe a sociopath?” Pebbles weighed in with this own conjecture.

“Not finishing compiling all the data on that?” Long Di asked him.

Pebbles yawned before he shook his head. “There are not enough hours in the day, days in the week, months, years, decades, centuries and/or millennia in the realm of reality or fantasy to help us compile the data of your mental state bro.”

Long Di raised a finger as he commented. “You’re no better off than me. You’re more off-kilter than these people are the beloved lovechild of NPCs and cannon fodders. They’re not even biological, they're stepchildren.”

Pebbles’s ears twitched. “Wait, stepchildren to who?”

“Can it be both?”

“Stop ignoring us, you cur!” Grand Elder Jin Ya trembled under the contempt Long Di held for him.

Long Di held his hands out. “Is name-calling necessary?”

“You called us names not ten seconds ago!” Grand Elder Jin Ya barked.

“I thought we were just making astute observations.”

“Screw you!”

“Do you know a Yaomu Shou?”

“Die!”

Jin Ya drew his sword in response and was just about to fight it out with Long Di when the other elders piled on him to stop him from running to his death.

This dead-faced, charm-of-a-fly demonic genius was the devil!

“I just love how you proceed to not bat an eye on the fact that he wanted to kill me. You can’t fake that kind of killing intent.”

“So! You know what kind of strength you wielded from the beginning!” Grand Elder Jin Ya argued.

“And yet he still decided to walk into this ass whooping,” Long Di decided to give zero damns today and it infuriated the Grand Elder.

“You—!”

“Don’t blame me for his poor decisions.” Long Di didn’t give him a chance to continue and went on. “He didn’t have to listen to Wei Yun, yet he did because he had his own agenda. He wanted my life, and I took his instead. You wouldn’t argue with him had I died. So don’t argue with me because nothing will change the fact that he is dead and I care none since it would have been the same had the outcome been the reverse.”

The Grand Elder’s next words was choked back at this point. Truly, nothing he said right now, would change the outcome. Even worse, nothing he said would place him and his sect in the right.

He then plopped down on the ground behind his dead Sect Master. He didn’t know how to continue from here.

Long Di didn’t care about him at this moment and walked off in another direction. Since he was in the spotlight right now, everyone had their eyes on him.

When they saw where he headed, everyone’s hearts clenched once more.

“Brother Long Di–”

“I’ll hear nothing of it Firecracker,” stated Long Di.

He knew why Violet Flame Noble spoke up just now. It was obvious at a glance where he was going.

There was no one where he was headed aside from Qin Ling and Wei Yun.

His gaze was on no one else but Wei Yun.

Shu!

Out of nowhere, Lord Whiskers appeared beside him with his passengers.

“Long Di.”

“Would you stop me Shen Ling?” Long Di didn’t avert his gaze as he closed in on Wei Yun and Qin Ling.

“Are you going to kill her?”

“No,” Long Di shook his head. “But lessons need to be learnt. Because of her, I was embroiled in a battle where, were I a weaker person, would have died. Would you stop me?”

As he got close to her, Qin Ling took a step in front of Wei Yun blocking Long Di from getting any closer.

“You’re getting too close,” her voice carried a chill that stabbed at the heart but Long Di cared very little for it.

“Step aside Qin Ling,” Long Di finally arrived, and he was face to face with the Divine Daughter of Ice Phoenix Hall.

Wei Yun was behind her as well, her emotions were behind a wall of icy indifference. However, the faint shudder that escaped every now and again betrayed the slight fear she held for Long Di.

Qin Ling’s eyes narrowed. “Who are you to tell me to step aside?”

“Long Di,” he stated.

“Not enough prestige!” Qin Ling coldly uttered.

“I don’t know what’s happened to you, but I hardly care right now. Move or I will move you little one,” stated Long Di.

When Wei Yun heard how Long Di referred to Qin Ling, she chose to speak up.

“You commoner! Do you think you can talk to the Divine Daughter like tha–”

Pa!

Wei Yun’s face snapped to the left as a crisp, clear and responding slap echoed out that stopped her words short.

The eyes of every spectator here widened, and it was so silent that if a pin fell, one could hear it. This was the case until a voice steeped in coldness that didn’t lose out to Qin Ling’s temperance echoed out.

“Who are you to call my man common?”
