Snow-Kissed Rose (GL) Chapter 94.1

Compared to Star of Spring's fast-paced schedule, My Life's Journey had carved its niche as a popular slow-paced variety show. The show's high interactivity, where livestream viewers acted as observers, reduced the reliance on scripts and allowed for more unpredictable situations. Watching the show's guests adapt or panic for help was one of the show's biggest draws.

After guiding the guests to G City, the show's host went AWOL, and the production crew began communicating with the guests through task cards. And as per tradition, the audience would be responsible for deciding the guests' first task.

My Life's Journey Season 5, Interactive Segment 1: Now that our new travelers have met, what do you want to see them do the most?

While the production crew was collecting and compiling the audience's responses, the PD(producer) informed the guests, who were having watermelon in the living room, about their first task.

The first interactive segment of each season was always the same, so nobody was surprised to hear that the audience would decide their first task.

"I wonder if it'll be a difficult task?" Hu Feng wondered.

"I watched the show's past seasons before coming, and the first task is usually a head-scratcher. You really have to admire the creativity of netizens…" Zhu Zhi said.

Zhu Zi was a veteran actor in his forties. He often played villainous supporting roles, and he was commonly known as the First Generation Charming Cult Leader, whom even the protagonist feared. Yet, this Charming Cult Leader now found himself shuddering before the creativity of netizens.

[We made even the Cult Leader feel scared (proudly puffs up chest).]

As the other guests busily vied for screen time, Song Yingshi took a bite of watermelon, its sweet juices eliciting a range of expressions on her bright, beautiful face. For the most part, she stayed silent and avoided attracting attention to herself. She also avoided looking at Fu Shu, whose gaze kept sweeping toward her. Having to work on a rare holiday, she wanted nothing more than to slack off and have fun with Huai Xu for two days.

Song Yingshi didn't know what the others had come here to do, but she and Huai Xu were here to enjoy their vacation.

When Song Yingshi turned to look at Huai Xu, she saw that Huai Xu appeared even more indifferent than her.

Out of the seven women in the room, Huai Xu felt the most inapproachable. Even though she offered polite and focused glances whenever the people around her spoke, showing no arrogance, her extraordinarily delicate eyes and brows still exuded a strong sense of distance.

The bickering in the live chat paused as the guests chatted, and a different kind of atmosphere emerged.

[I came for Snow-Kissed Rose's looks, and I can't help but feel like Zhou Chun is completely overshadowed.]

[I came here for Hu Feng, but I didn't expect to see two top-tier beauties. Names, please? Are they actresses?]

[The two of them sitting together is just so pleasing to the eye. I'm finally starting to empathize with CP fans.]

Approximately 30 minutes after the audience was asked to suggest a task, the PD finally announced the chosen task on the living room's projection screen. When Song Yingshi saw the words displayed on the screen, she nearly choked on the watermelon in her mouth.

Within today, all guests must perform a sweet girl group dance together. #dogehead

The guests: ???

"Dear guests, this is the task the audience has chosen for the first interactive segment. Please complete it before noon. You are now free to act as you wish. There's a travel guide on the table with nearby attractions and shops to visit. You are also free to stay indoors if that is what you prefer," the producer said.

"You want an old lady like me to perform a girl group dance? Wouldn't that be inappropriate?" Hu Feng asked, pointing at herself.

Zhu Zi immediately disagreed with Hu Feng, saying, "Don't say that, Instructor Hu! You're the goddess of my generation! I'm the one who shouldn't be doing this in front of the camera. After all, both Fu Shu and I are grown men."

After saying so, Zhu Zi looked at Fu Shu with a wry smile.

Fu Shu's expression appeared a little stiff. However, when he saw Song Yingshi lazily propping her head up, looking away from him, he said calmly, "It can't be helped; we'll just have to learn. We'll have to ask our several trainees here to teach us."

Upon hearing Fu Shu's words, a hint of reluctance flashed in Zhou Chun's eyes. Why this task? Wouldn't teaching dance require close physical contact?

Unable to voice any objections, Zhou Chun covertly cast a wary glance at Huai Xu and Song Yingshi, the two most beautiful women in the room.

The others in the room also looked over.

Zhu Zi was a veteran actor dedicated to his work. After momentarily lamenting his fate, he perked up and said, "We'll be in your care, little instructors."

Kou Lengyu, Chen Wan, and Li Taoran never expected their status to reverse so quickly. Only moments ago, they were mere backdrops on the show. Now, they were little instructors" to veteran actors like Zhu Zi and Hu Feng.

What should they do? Would they be perceived as arrogant if they readily accepted this role? Unable to decide, Kou Lengyu and the others eventually turned to Song Yingshi and Huai Xu for their opinion.

Song Yingshi: "..."

While wondering why it was so difficult to be a slacker, Song Yingshi put down her watermelon and faced the gazes of the seven people looking at her. With a humble and genuine smile, she answered frankly, "No problem. Let's pick an easy dance; the sooner we finish this task, the sooner we can go out and explore."

Song Yingshi's smile amplified her allure. This, coupled with her refreshing and unpretentious demeanor, instantly captivated the audience.

[Little missie, why so stingy with your words? Don't you know you need to speak more to get more screen time?]

[peroperopero]

"Then, it's decided!"

After reaching a consensus, the celebrity guests went to search for a suitable place to practice in the villa, while Song Yingshi and the other trainees stayed behind to clean up the mess on the dining table and choose a dance.

If they were to choose a stage-worthy girl group dance, they'd have to spend the next two days trying to complete this first task. Hence, everyone decided to go with a simple dance that met the task's requirements.

Chen Wan used a short video app to find a few recently viral dances and showed them to her team leader.

Huai Xu gave these dances a once-over before choosing the one with the best visual appeal. As for the dance's difficulty, dances that could go viral were typically accessible to the general public, so they wouldn't be too challenging to pull off.

Afterward, Chen Wan showed the dance to the others, and everyone agreed it fit their requirements.

[They're learning on the fly? They didn't prepare anything beforehand? Tsk.]

[Who prepares for singing and dancing when going on vacation???]

[This drags down the progress. Why bother having these trainees teach? Wouldn't it be better if everyone just learned the dance together?]

Another argument erupted in the live comments following the first task's announcement. It was past 9 AM, and more and more viewers were pouring in. When these new viewers saw the argument happening in the comments, they assumed the trainees were genuinely messing around.

However, once everyone stood on the villa's rooftop terrace, Song Yingshi walked to the front of the group of trainees and said to the established celebrities, "It took us a while, but we ultimately decided on this dance. I'll give you a demonstration first."

Immediately afterward, the music played. Facing everyone, Song Yingshi put on a sweet smile the moment her dance began. She flawlessly performed the entire segment, even perfectly matching her expressions to the lyrics. The vitality and sense of ease she exuded made everyone subconsciously smile along with her.

[Ahhhhh!!! My sweet little idol, Mommy loves you!!!]

[She learned it from just watching?]

Hu Feng was also surprised by Song Yingshi's performance, asking, "You just chose this dance, yet you can already perform it?"

Song Yingshi chuckled, answering, "It's not a difficult dance; you all can also learn it in no time."

Hearing this, Zhu Zi looked at Huai Xu and the other trainees, asking, "Have you also all finished learning it?"

Huai Xu nodded. Li Taoran and Kou Lengyu humbly said they were almost done learning the dance. Chen Wan shyly admitted she still had a couple of moves to memorize and needed to watch the video at least once more.

Everyone else: "..."

"Incredible!" Zhu Zi exclaimed, admiration clear in his voice. "It truly is as the saying goes: different trades, worlds apart!"

[My baby was praised by Zhu Zi! Mommy is so proud! QvQ]

[Nobody can doubt the capabilities of Star of Spring's trainees. I welcome everyone to admire my Little Shi's exquisite performance.]

After deciding on the dance, everyone quickly began to learn it in earnest. Since more people knew the dance than those who didn't, Huai Xu decided to go with one-on-one teaching, assigning everyone a partner.

Just after Huai Xu had assigned Chen Wan to instruct Zhu Zi, Fu Shu suddenly interjected, "I've never danced before, so I need a more capable teacher. Otherwise, I might drag everyone down."

Fu Shu wore a faint expression of apology and concern as he spoke, easily eliciting empathy from others.

Without much thought, Hu Feng said, "Then, let Little—"

"I'll do it," Huai Xu interrupted, her voice as clear as melted snow.

Immediately, everyone turned to look at Huai Xu.

When Zhou Chun saw Huai Xu "competing" for the opportunity to teach Fu Shu, alarm bells rang in her head. While harboring certain emotions in her heart, she said, "Is Huai Xu also good at dancing?"

Upon hearing this, Li Taoran immediately puffed up her chest and said, "Huai Xu is our team leader. She excels at both singing and dancing."

Song Yingshi's expression remained unchanged as she cast Zhou Chun a glance.

"Aw, I was thinking of getting you to teach me, Huai Xu. Now, Fu Shu has snatched you away," Hu Feng said regretfully.

As the most established celebrity present, Hu Feng's "relinquishing" of her opportunity to be taught by Huai Xu left Fu Shu with no alternative but to accept Huai Xu's arrangement. Looking at the indifferent Huai Xu, he said somewhat begrudgingly, "Then…I'll be in your care, Huai Xu."

Subsequently, Song Yingshi was assigned to instruct Hu Feng, while Li Taoran was assigned to Zhou Chun. As Kou Lengyu didn't have anyone to instruct, she decided to research the nearby attractions and discuss potential travel routes with the production crew in advance.

The chosen sweet dance had simple moves, and any healthy person could perform it. But to perform it to a visually appealing level, one needed a strong body rhythm, and the points of force and tempo had to be analyzed.

For the celebrities, while they didn't need to perform spectacularly on the variety show, they needed to at least avoid embarrassing themselves.

Therefore, even Zhou Chun temporarily forgot about Fu Shu, diligently following Li Taoran's instructions. She couldn't allow her celebrity aura to be tarnished by a measly dance! Not to mention, Fu Shu would be watching.

"Your movements here need to be bolder…"

"Instructor Hu, you need to move your hips more."

"Relax your body; your movements need to be soft and flexible."

When the audience saw how the celebrity guests struggled to learn the simple dance while the trainees handled it with ease, the stubborn commenters who previously claimed "the trainees were only able to learn so quickly because the dance is easy" started to grow silent.

In the east corner of the rooftop terrace, Fu Shu and Zhu Zi's two groups huddled together.

While the female celebrities had at least some yoga experience, making the sweet dance less challenging, the two male celebrities had nothing to mitigate their awkwardness and humiliation. Their bodies radiated so much discomfort and introversion that the production crew tactfully reduced their screen time as they practiced.

Zhu Zi, despite his age, was resolute in his practice. He stretched his arms and legs as instructed by Chen Wan, performing the girl group dance with the serious demeanor of a marching band. Overall, though, the atmosphere between teacher and student was harmonious.

Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said for the other pairing.

Huai Xu never stood closer than five steps to Fu Shu, looking like she was practicing social distancing. After guiding him through the moves once, she simply said, "Practice on your own. If you have any questions, ask me."

Since the cameras weren't on them and Zhu Zi's group was a bit of a distance away, Fu Shu dropped all pretense with Huai Xu. Putting his aversion toward her on full display, he said, "I advise you not to stick your nose in where it doesn't belong."

Huai Xu cast a nonchalant glance at Fu Shu, saying, "Who do you think you are?"

Fu Shu frowned, demanding, "What kind of attitude is that?"

As Huai Xu looked at the Fu Shu before her, she was briefly reminded of her past self, entangled in hatred, and the ambiguous last words of the past Fu Shu. Then, she refocused her attention on the Fu Shu before her.

The Fu Shu before her was still young, far from the mature, cunning, and ruthless individual he was in her previous life. From her perspective, he was nothing more than a young and untrained mutt who had yet to learn how to use the tools at his disposal. Essentially, he was no threat to her.

Lifting her chin, Huai Xu gazed down at Fu Shu with casual indifference and said, "Don't covet what already belongs to others. Don't you even understand such a simple principle?"

Huai Xu ended her words with a warning, her gaze as sharp as blades.

It was easy for one to lose one's temper when facing a love rival, especially a love rival who didn't know her place. Although Fu Shu still couldn't understand why his love rival was a woman, he wasn't about to back down without a fight. However, just as he was about to assert his dominance and retort, Huai Xu raised her eyes and looked behind him, murmuring playfully, "The camera's coming, Instructor Fu. Smile."

The moment Huai Xu finished speaking, a cameraman pivoted his camera toward Fu Shu. When the cameraman saw the failed and distorted "sweet smile" on Fu Shu's handsome face, he nearly dropped his camera out of fright.

[???]

[What happened to Fu Shu? I nearly peed my pants.]

[Really? I quite like how he looks right now. The simultaneous twitching of his mouth and eyes reminds me of someone having a stroke.]

The livestream viewers immediately screenshotted Fu Shu's face and shared it on social media. Before lunchtime, Fu Shu, who usually presented himself as a refined and elegant gentleman, was already trending on the internet thanks to the "Fu Shu's Girl Group Smile GIF."

This was also Fu Shu's first time trending due to notoriety.

The production crew gladly welcomed the surge in popularity, changing the livestream's title to: "Star of Spring's Trainees' One-on-One Girl Group Dance Tutorial, Can Fu Shu Successfully Manage His Expression While Dancing?"
