`The eyes of every spectator here widened, and it was so silent that if a pin fell, one could hear it. This was the case until a voice steeped in coldness that didn’t lose out to Qin Ling’s temperance echoed out.

“Who are you to call my man common?”

****

No one moved in the face of this occurrence. Even the Grand Elder who was distraught over his Sect Master’s death regained enough clarity to be shocked over what just happened.

Long Di surely wasn’t expecting this and took a while to process this. Pebbles, on the other hand, was grinning ear to ear.

“As expected of the prime waifu.”

Just as he said, it was Shen Ling who took action. Her hand was still in the post-slap position as her cold gaze held Wei Yun’s shocked one.

Violet Flame Noble and the others didn’t dare to utter a word like Pebbles did. They were fully aware that this entire situation was a powder keg just waiting to go off. If anyone did anything or said anything, this fragile situation would descend into utter chaos, not like this peace would last either. This was simply the calm before the storm.

Of course, due to Shen Ling taking action, it was the first time that anyone here took notice of her. This was also how she managed to bypass Qin Ling to get to Wei Yun.

Her Blossoming Abyss hid her features from view. Since she now had everyone’s attention, many here were able to ‘feel’ the depths of her beauty through this shimmering, peach-blossom-filled illusion.

They had to wonder just what kind of kingdom-toppling beauty this was that could engender this feeling within him. Even those on the level of Heavenly Sun Noble and the others fell inferior to just the feeling alone.

However, her appearance or the mystery of it didn’t minimise the consequence of her action. Both Qin Ling and Wei Yun trembled when enough time to process what just happened passed.

Dum!

Boom!

Both their auras began spiking when Long Di’s own cultivation base crashed down on them.

“Don’t even think about it.” Long Di wouldn’t allow them to take action on Shen Ling while he was here.

Regardless, Shen Ling didn’t care and cooly walked away from Wei Yun and came to stand by Long Di’s side.

“You didn’t have to–”

“I don’t wish for you to dirty your hands dealing with women like this. Unless they are an enemy to be eradicated or someone who you… care for, I would like for you to not touch any women.”

Though no one could see it, Shen Ling’s face was a mix of fury against Wei Yun and a bashful expression that her own words birthed within her.

Her aggressiveness in verbally marking Long Di as her own was something that, you guessed it, Pebbles advised her to do.

“Noted,” Long Di said after a while.

Seeing that there was nothing more from here that he wanted to deal with apart from a few, he executed a stretch of sorts before announcing. “Aaaand we’re leaving.”

“Finally!” Pebbles was ecstatic to hear this.

Just like that, Long Di decided to leave Cang Bian City and Pebbles couldn’t be happier about it.

Shu!

Shing!

Without warning, Qin Ling and Wei Yun appeared beside Long Di only for a lightning sabre to appear a hair’s width from their necks.

This only further caused a lump to form in everyone’s throats. Violet Flame Noble only wished he had the strength to intervene here but sadly he didn’t.

He didn’t wish to subdue Long Di or Qin Ling or anything. He simply wished he could have the two sides back down so that an amicable end could be reached.

Curiously, the two people who had the sabre against their necks didn’t show any emotional fluctuations at Long Di’s actions.

Long Di honestly found it weird. It was because his cultivation technique didn’t give off any warning of ill-intent that he didn’t go beyond what he just did. Nevertheless, he wasn’t going to foolishly put his guard down.

“Here,” Qin Ling proffered the tome to him. “Now give me the full cultivation technique.”

Long Di stared at her expressionlessly while Pebbles wore a frown. He saw that something was truly wrong with his girl.

Wei Yun wasn’t that far off either. Both of them were humiliated in front of everyone else. Based on his understanding of humans, this should have pushed them to fight to regain whatever honour they felt they needed to defend.

However, while Pebbles and Long Di and his group didn’t understand what was wrong, everyone else had a fair idea.

It was no secret that Ice Phoenix Hall was a sect that only practised ice-based cultivation techniques. The prerequisite for some of these techniques was a tempering of their emotions.

So even though Wei Yun could act emotionally, when it comes down to it, these emotions could easily be suppressed if she so willed it. That was why right now, she didn’t wear an angry expression or even spare Shen Ling a glance.

Her full attention was on the mission at hand which manifested itself in Long Di.

Before this, they did wish to take action against Shen Ling on behalf of Ice Phoenix Hall, since just not anyone could offend them. However, they were also clearly aware that they had no chance of suppressing Long Di to get to her.

As a result, the logical thing to do was to complete what they came here for and contemplate other things later. It might seem like they were okay with letting others walk over them, however, this was the exact opposite.

Their lack of feelings made them the worst when it came to pursuing offences. They were known for their mercilessness and would settle any damage to their prestige within due time.

Obviously, what the Divine Daughter wanted, outweighed any offences that should be settled. That was something that could be settled later.

“Maybe this isn’t the best place to talk,” Long Di stated.

She looked at him coldly after this without saying anything.

Suddenly, an explosion from the distance drew everyone’s attention, and they looked over to see a beautiful ice carriage charging over.

It pulled up right behind her and the door opened up, causing a trail of fog to roll out in a ghostly manner. The tendrils slowly spread out like a spectre of sorts, its reach heralding a chill of an unholy kind.

“Get in.” She ordered.

“No,” Long Di told her before ignoring her. He looked at the Sun siblings on top of Lord Whiskers.

He mumbled to himself. “Need to figure out what I’m gonna do with them. After all, I can’t leave em here. Something feels off for some reason.”

Qin Ling frowned when she saw how Long Di didn’t pay attention to her. He didn’t care though as he readied himself to move on. He turned to Violet Flame Noble yelling, “Firecracker, we’re leaving.”

“C-Coming,” Violet Flame Noble took tentative steps towards Long Di.

“So Shai Bing,” Long Di turned to Heavenly Sun Noble. “It seems our bet will have to be put on hold. I’m sure we’ll meet again.”

“W-Wait!” A shout drew everyone’s attention.

Long Di looked back at Heavenly Sun Noble who shouted at him to stop.

“Yes?”

“I–”

She didn’t know what to say at the moment. When she saw how everyone looked at her, a furious blush coloured her cheeks.

She was an extremely heroic woman, so a situation like this was new to her. She never looked up to someone other than her master like this, and it threw her for a loop.

Long Di had completely toppled her perception of strength.

Not only was he somehow able to achieve a level of strength that made no sense based on his age. He was even able to fight above his realm as well as force the Divine Daughter herself to back down.

She wanted to remain by his side. She wanted to see what kind of person he was. What made him tick, what created an expert at his level?

She was a frog at the bottom of a well, and he was the sky to her. She saw how effortlessly he did many of the things he did and she knew that she only saw the tip of what he was capable of.

“I’ll do it…” she said after a while.

Long Di raised a brow and turned to face her atop Pebbles. “Come again?”

“I-I’ll accede to your wishes! I’ll submit.”

“What!?”
