“I-I’ll accede to your wishes! I’ll submit.”

“What!?”

****

“Master, what are you talking about!?” Mad Sword Haoran couldn’t believe it.

Black Fortress Guo Da and Jingyi Yu were also shocked by this. They were aware of just how prideful Heavenly Sun Noble was.

For her to ‘surrender’ to someone like this was beyond unexpected. Even though she made the bet before and they knew of it, it didn’t hit them as hard because in their mind there was no submission from her to anyone.

This was regardless of any and every circumstance that could come about. That they were sure of.

Even her master didn’t require her to kowtow or anything like that to him because of her unyielding nature. It was something he accepted from her, which was traditionally unusual, but this was something she was famous for.

This was why her decision to accede to someone else's wishes was so shocking.

Since she took the initiative to announce this, then it meant that she would carry it through, no? Her pride wouldn’t allow her to go back on her word.

Long Di looked at her for the longest time. He saw her back, ramrod straight as it was, her face that looked up at him in blatant defiance, and her entire person that oozed a ruler’s charm.

It was the first time that Long Di was able to read someone so clearly. Her entirety screamed the complete opposite of what she was saying.

“You’re… sure about this?” He narrowed his eyes at her.

Heavenly Sun Noble looked down and gritted her teeth, causing her jaw to clench before she looked back at him.

“I—I’ll follow you instead!” She wailed before she fell to her knee, taking in deep breaths. It was almost as if saying this much took all she had. Exhaustion took her down.

Mad Sword Haoran and the others breathed a sigh of relief when they heard this. This was something they could handle.

Since she didn’t say yes and voiced she would follow him instead, it meant she was being quite literal. This meant that she would literally follow him as opposed to acceding to his wishes, which were the terms of the bet.

She would physically travel alongside him. There was no need to listen to him or anything like that.

Long Di was once again confused at the implications of this and Violet Flame Noble, seeing all this, whispered what she meant to him, explaining the profundity of her words.

When he finally understood, he turned his attention back to her.

“Okay,” Long Di nodded. “Fine. I hope you won’t regret this.”

She met his gaze equally. “Me too.”

He then turned around as he prepared to leave.

“Wait!” A yell from behind drew his attention, and he turned around to see Qin Ling staring at him.

“What?” He asked.

“The cultivation technique,” Qin Ling stated.

“You’re like a dog with a bone with that thing aren’t you?” Long Di wondered just how this Ice Phoenix Hall managed to change her as much as it did. “What can you do for me in return?”

“Anything!” Qin Ling replied without hesitation.

“Oh, really?” Long Di chose to test something while he was at it. “Are you planning to come after me for my earlier so-called offences?”

“Yes,” she answered.

Long Di rose a brow at her answer. He didn’t think she would tell the truth, and he knew she did, as there would be no advantage to her by saying this. In fact, this would only work against her. That’s why he knew she was telling the truth.

Nevertheless, this did confirm one thing, which was that she didn’t lie.

“Okay then, well how about this? I want you to take Shai Bing and the Sun siblings with you so that they can join her sect.”

“W-Wait, a minute. I didn’t agree to this,” Heavenly Sun Noble protested.

Long Di landed a lazy gaze in her direction. “You don’t want some alone time with the Divine Daughter of Ice Phoenix Hall for whatever reason?”

“Like I said, I did agree to this!” Heavenly Sun Noble jumped on the opportunity without missing a beat.

The present experts were blown away at how quickly she changed her tune.

Qin Ling couldn’t care less about all this and readied herself to board her carriage. “Come quickly. I don’t like wasting time.”

Wei Yun evinced worry at this. “Qin Lin–”

“Careful.” The temperature around Qin Ling dropped a few degrees at this, as did Wei Yun’s mood.

“Apologies, Divine Daughter,” she corrected herself. “I just worry about your safety and–”

Qin Ling gave her the physiques tome, cutting her off before she replied, saying. “I’ll be fine. Accompany Long Di and I’ll find you all when I’m done.”

Wei Yun slightly bowed to her and then came to stand before Lord Whiskers and by extension Long Di and everyone else. Her earlier actions and the reprisal it brought didn’t seem to affect her in any way.

“Come on up,” Long Di waved at her. He wasn’t going to have her walking while they rode Lord Whiskers.

Mostly because she wouldn’t be able to keep up.

She leapt up nimbly and came to rest at the back.

“Well?” Qin Ling looked at Long Di.

Seeing this, Long Di looked at the Sun siblings, “Well?”

“W-What!?” Sun Zixin was still kinda lost. Because, when all is said, this all sounded like they, or at least he, was supposed to be joining Heavenly Sun Noble’s sect, which was one of the Ten Great Sects.

“Do you wanna join…” Long Di just realised he didn’t know the name of the sect. He then looked at Heavenly Sun Noble. “What’s the name of your sect?”

“Heavenly Sun School,” She answered him proudly

Long Di turned back to Sun Zixin. “Heavenly Sun School. You can join them and I’m sure your sister and brother will at least be able to live better lives if Heavenly Sun Noble brings you there.”

Long Di didn’t wish to let them stay here especially when he saw the state of their living arrangements. However, there was something that he saw and sensed that filled him with unease about this place.

Something was undeniably wrong but he couldn’t quite place his finger on it.

He could only leave the Sun siblings in peace once he was sure they would be in a place that was safe.

In addition, even if he didn’t feel the way he felt, just Golden Lion Gate existing would be enough of a reason why he couldn’t leave them here. They would definitely suffer at the sect’s hands.

“You’d do this for us?” Sun Zixin asked Long Di, his eyes turning red.

“Yeah. I mean I’m not gonna just send you away y’kno. I’m the kinda guy to ask permission before I do anything,” Long Di said while nodding.

“You can ask my friends,” he flickered a thumb over his shoulder at his so-called friends.

Shen Ling, Mina, and Xiannu Liang all looked at him with the most incredulous looks.

“Come again!?”
