They stopped and, upon doing so, they sucked in a cold breath of air even though nothing cold was present here.

Yaomu Shou took a good look around before understanding dawned. “Makes sense. Everyone, welcome to Cavern Flame Mountain.”

****

I had no idea why Yaomu Shou was acting like she was announcing the opening of Jurassic Park, but she was an ashy gal at the end of the day.

Me and everyone got off Lord Whiskers and gave the entire place the ol once over. We were at the top of a mountain, for sure.

However, instead of it being filled with trees or snow like most mountain tops were, this one was instead covered with caverns.

Even more curious was that some of these caverns sometimes lit up with a strong orange glow. Others held the orange glow for a brief moment before they dimmed into darkness, whilst a scarce few held the glow for much longer.

There were a rare few that were actually filled with flames that bathed a part of the scenery in the same orange glow.

As soon as Jia Yan saw these caverns, his eyes lit up!

I could tell why, too. Even I could feel the powerful flame energy these caverns expelled periodically.

Jia Yan looked at me, and I could tell what he was thinking at a glance. I didn’t answer him right away because of what was coming.

“Who are you?”

There it was.

A voice filled with surprise and immense displeasure sounded out that drew everyone’s attention.

I looked over to see several demons whose skin gave off a bright bronze glow staring at me with contempt. Behind them was another demon whose skin shone with a silver glow.

He didn’t spare any of us a passing glance and remained crossed-legged in one of the very few caverns that were filled with flames.

The flames filled the caverns at regular intervals. It was like the heartbeat of some prehistoric beast. His expression was peaceful and despite the flames being notably powerful, not even his robes were burnt.

His cauldrons, which were all high-grade, rotated in a steady fashion. Not only that, one of his cauldrons housed its own core, meaning that he was a One Core Martial Adept.

Seeing that this was the only thing I had to deal with, I told Jia Yan to find a cavern to cultivate in.

Jia Yan looked at me as if impressed by my attitude. The same went for everyone else.

“You!” the disciple that called out to us earlier grit his teeth in anger at being ignored like he was the middle child.

“Zi Yu, can you follow him to make sure nothing happens to him?”

I don’t think Jia Yan will be in any problems, but I’m thinking there may be something between her and Jia Yan. I might as well play matchmaker.

She didn’t find anything wrong with this and moved beside Jia Yan before asking.

“Ready?”

Jia Yan nodded, and without waiting for anyone else walked towards one of the caverns

“Stop!”

Shu!

In response to this, one of the demons rushed Jia Yan and Zi Yu.

The latter looked back at me as if she was asking me something.

“Do whatever you want. I don’t know why you’re asking me anything.”

“You’re kicking a hornet’s nest.” The lazy voice of Yaomu Shou drifted over.

“You’re enjoying yourself, aren’t you?” It just dawned on me that Yaomu Shou’s been acting pretty low-key most of the trip.

Yaomu Shou was lying flat on her back on top of Lord Whiskers, staring at the sky. The comfort of his fur was forcing her to close her eyes to drift into what I reckoned would be the best sleep of her life.

This was why the disciples from earlier didn’t see her, and this was the case now as well.

“Stop right there!” the demon that moved to stop Jia Yan and Zi Yu came over with a haughty expression.

He was a demon covered head to toe in fur. If I was a furry, this would have been a very different conversation. It was the fur that gave off the bronze glow in his case.

“You best move out of the way before I make you!” Zi Yu glared at him as she took out her fans.

“Tch!” the disciple snorted when he heard this. “Do you know who we a—”

“I do, don’t care, go screw yourself!” She sneered.

I was thinking I liked Zi Yu after that.

“Pfft… Ha…” Jia Yan couldn’t help it and blurt out a laugh before he quickly stifled it, I don’t see why.

The corner of Zi Yu’s mouth upturned into a cocky smile with this.

The demon, on the other hand, was shivering with rage.

He didn’t attack Zi Yu and I’m thinking it’s because she was either a girl or a pureblood demon. Which reminds me, I don’t know what kind of demon Zi Yu was, weird.

“Don’t blame me for being vicious then,” the demon then took out a staff that was wooden in the middle whilst the ends were encased in an unknown metal.

“You talk too much!” Zi Yu shot towards the disciple with her fan in hand.

I’m not gonna lie, I didn’t pay much attention to that fight. I could tell what everyone’s cultivation was at a glance and I could tell, I was most definitely built different.

I turned my attention to the others and asked them. “Are you going to be unreasonable?”

“You think you can offend us and get away with it!?” Another disciple asked darkly.

This jackass answered my question with a question and didn’t even address it.

“This is getting old, Lord Whiskers Furryback the First, if you please.”

Lord Whiskers at me when I called on him, and that was fair. He understood he had to restrain himself to travel with us, so being told to run wild was a rare occurrence.

Even before getting the go-ahead, his killing intent leaked out, and he bared his teeth, which he licked menacingly.

“Sic e—”

“Wait!” A shout came from behind the disciples and the silver-bodied demon walked from the cavern they had their backs to.

He was a bit different from the other demons he accompanied. Apart from the silver hue that covered his body.

He had two horns on his head that curved back like he was cosplaying as Hellboy while his robe was opened at the front, exposing his chest like he had rizz he had to spare. He didn’t by the way.

Not only that, muscles filled his body from what little parts of his body his robes exposed.

He stared at everyone before announcing. “We’re leaving.”
