Xiannu Liang stared at Long Di in a new light when she saw this, “D-Did you kill him!?”

“Define kill.”

****

Xiannu Liang grew annoyed. Was he serious!?

“I mean—”

“Hold that thought,” Long Di interrupted her.

Krrrsh!

Without warning, the lightning spear materialised in his palm once more. His spiritual force dived before he fired the spear into the rubble where the disciple from before landed.

As soon as the spear arrived, Long Di clenched his fist, causing the lightning spear to burst apart.

Bam!

The spear exploded, blasting the rubble apart and whatever poor soul that was buried underneath.

“D-Did you need to further desecrate his body like that?” Jia Yan asked, in an unsettled tone.

“That’s the problem,” Long Di answered. “I don’t care much for bodies. I prefer a corpse.”

Hearing this, everyone was relieved. This meant that Long Di wasn’t going overboard, but was rather finishing off an enemy who was still alive. After all, they would never leave him, but travelling with someone who mutilated his defeated opponents’ bodies wouldn’t sit well with them.

“Why did you stop me from acting?” Shen Ling finally asked.

Shen Ling was referring to the time she was circulating her spiritual essence to wreck the shit of the disciple that held her wrist.

At that time, before anything further came from it, she simply held herself back. However, this was due to Long Di telling her to back down.

Taking out a handkerchief, he explained. “I would rather you use your abilities when we’re under less… observation.”

Yaomu Shou reddened with shame when she heard this. “I-I would ne—”

“You have nothing to feel bad about, and you’re not who I have reservations against. It’s your babysitters, they’re a tad heavy-handed if nothing else,” he explained.

“They won’t act carelessly like that again,” she quickly explained. “So you can do as you please.”

“Still…” he turned his attention back to Shen Ling as he wiped her hand clean with the handkerchief. “It seems that anyone with historical knowledge will take you for that race, so maybe lay off on the moves that are… I dunno… abyssal in nature, maybe?”

“Okay…” she shyly whispered as a blush coloured her cheeks. Luckily, the veil was there to block this reaction from view.

“Uhm, why are you wiping my hands?” she mustered the courage to ask after a while.

“Because the living embodiment of sheer stupidity and what I can describe as chronic simpness touched you. Now, based on my previous observations, I have no reason to believe that stupidity is a pandemic, but considering how widespread it is, I’m not taking any chances.”

After saying this, he let her hand go and urged everyone to board their furry transportation and move on.

After collecting the disciples’ storage rings, they climbed atop Lord Whiskers and went on.

Shu!

“You know, I can feel your gaze burning a hole in the back of my head. I’m flattered but I’m not interested. You’re far too crass for my taste,” Long Di said offhandedly.

“Screw you!” was the only remark to greet him.

Unsurprisingly, this came from Yaomu Shou, who was staring intently at Long Di, sparking his earlier remark.

“What’s on your mind?” he asked, not troubled by her outburst.

She took a minute to calm down before asking. “What you were doing earlier, that spear thing; was that a martial technique you created?”

“Creating,” Long Di corrected. “What I was doing requires the use of a gerund.”

Yaomu Shou was shaken to her core upon receiving confirmation. She was there for the conversation between him and Feng Yu and heard him say several times that he could create a cultivation technique for her, but knowing Long Di, that could have very well been code for something either profound or infuriating, there was no middle ground with him.

However, at the end of the day, she had SOME reservations about the whole thing. One must understand that cultivation techniques are not a subject that just anyone is qualified to talk about, much less create.

It took the great sages of their world, hundreds, or even thousands of years, to create one.

Uncle Tian Lu spent countless years trying to modify the Breaking Mundane Forging Heaven technique and the Foundation Forge Body Tempering Art, and what he ended up with in the end were leagues worse than what he had previously. Though modifying an existing technique was harder than creating one, the nonchalantness of Long Di’s tone should never exist for this topic.

Yaomu Shou knew more than everyone here about the wider cultivation world and as a result, only she could properly react to this heaven-defying action.

Long Di gave her a moment to process this since he was pretty sure that his existence was gonna cause many to go through the same thing.

Xiannu Liang shuffled in discomfort as the temperature began rising. Her origin as a Nymph made her extremely susceptible to the rising flame fluctuations in the environment. This was felt even through the qi shield that Long Di constructed for the group to protect them from the buffeting winds.

Suddenly, another shield encased her that drastically lessened her burden. She noticed a slight movement from Long Di and was moved that he would do this for her.

She was only at the Cauldron Forging realm and, as such, she didn’t have the ability to erect a solid qi manifestation outside her body like Long Di. This was a skill available to those at the Core Formation realm and above.

The Core in the Core Formation realm was a pearl made of spiritual essence that was then placed in the groove of one’s cauldrons.

Reaching this level allowed one to transform their spiritual qi into spiritual essence. Its nature was similar to the ‘pearl’ in the sense that it was far more solid. Its resilience couldn’t be understated, and it only grew with the cultivator’s cultivation base and how much effort they put into its purity and concentration.

It was this ability that Long Di used to create his several quasi-crystal dantians.

However, Long Di made no move to retrieve a thanks from her, so she didn’t try to give it. She could only place this in her heart and repay him when the moment came.

“Jia Yan,” Long Di called out.

“Y-Yeah?” Jia Yan was a little shocked as he was absorbed in the rumination of his earlier battle.

“Good job on that second cauldron. Impressive. It’s getting there” Long Di had to give credit where credit was due and Jia Yan’s cauldron grade was worthy of that credit.

“O-Oh! T-Thanks!” Jia Yan scratched his head in the face of that praise. It dawned on him that Long Di didn’t praise them much, so the recognition of his efforts was a welcome feeling.

“Your casting cauldron pills helped a whole lot,” he confessed. This made sense, as there would be no other way that he would have been able to forge his second cauldron to that high a grade in such a short time. So the pill’s use along with his Zhong Level Earth Grade physique made this possible.

“Meow!”

Lord Whiskers made a sound to advise that they were here.

“Already?” Long Di was ecstatic even though none but Shen Ling and Jia Yan could tell.

They stopped and, upon doing so, they sucked in a cold breath of air even though nothing cold was present here.

Yaomu Shou took a good look around before understanding dawned. “Makes sense. Everyone, welcome to Cavern Flame Mountain.”
