Chapter 673: When the Rain Continues
Not only that, muscles filled his body from what little parts of his body his robes exposed.
He stared at everyone before announcing. “We’re leaving.”
****
Well colour me surprised cuz I sure didn’t see that coming. A young master with a modicum of sense. They do exist.
They’re probably endangered, though.
“B-But Senior apprentice-brother Lun Qiang—” one of the disciples was about to say something when a hand found its way to his cheek.
This blow sent the disciple flying, causing the other disciples like him to freeze in shock!
“We’re leaving,” without another word, Lun Qian left. The disciples went to their injured brother and hurriedly called to their other brother, who was entangled with Zi Yu to disengage and follow them back.
After forcing Zi Yu back, he made his way back to his other brothers, following behind Lun Qiang with a confused expression.
Their expressions told me that they knew this Lun Qiang to be arrogant and that this was new to them. However, that same arrogant Lun Qiang left without another word and even injured one of his own followers, who questioned the reason behind this.
“You might wanna kill him,” the same lazy voice of Yaomu Shou drifted out and caused Silver Body Lun Qiang's steps to freeze.
Lun Qiang’s steps froze, and I turned my attention to where Yaomu Shou was relaxing. What was she on about now?
Lun Qiang then looked at me as if I was about to just do what that—which to him should only be a disembodied voice—told me to do.
He stared at me for a long time and the breeze caused his robes to flap gently in the wind, and I wondered for just a second if this guy thought he had enough to rizz to woo me. I appreciated the effort, but those horns looked like they could take an eye out, and I wasn’t ready for that.
Nevertheless, I thought about their actions, attitude and everything else after that and after thinking about it for a while, I shook my head.
“Lord Whiskers…” He looked at me with expectant eyes and I kinda felt bad about what I was about to say. “We’ll let em go.”
“Meow!”
He wasn’t happy. He had good reason for it.
“I didn’t lie, I just said to do something and then later don’t want you to do it. It’s a very normal thing.”
“Nyargh!”
“I’ll get you something to make up for it later.”
Lord Whiskers stared at Lun Qiang for a long time until the latter squirmed under its scrutiny. Its desire to consume him whole made him and his group’s blood run cold.
He didn’t say anything though, he just looked at me for a while before he turned and walked away with everyone.
I watched as they disappeared from view as they descended the mountain. I didn’t feel bad about letting them go. At the end of the day, whether I killed them or not would have yielded the same results. And the last thing I wanna do is go around killing people willy-nilly when they didn’t even cross my bottom line.
“You’re really letting them go!?” Yaomu Shou stood up on Lord Whiskers as she glared at me.
“Fix your eyes.” I didn’t appreciate the way she was looking at me.
Her expression changed, and she looked down before she mumbled softly. “Sorry.”
“It’s fine,” I told her. “You hate them a lot though, I get that. But I won’t kill them when they haven’t crossed my bottom line, Yaomu Shou.”
“What bottom line?” she asked as she stared at me.
“The bottom line of my friends. They didn’t hurt anyone here and I don’t know if it was because of their perceived greatness over us, but no killing intent even manifested. I’m aware that they’ll probably call for people to come here to kill every single one of us.”
“You do!?” Yaomu Shou yelled, surprised that I was able to figure this out. I don’t know what she expected. It’s not like this was rocket science or anything.
“Then why did you let em go!?” she asked me after recovering from her initial shock.
I am 95% sure she thinks I’m dumb. I’m actually insulted. That’s hard to do by the way. I have a pretty high tolerance.
Regardless, I answered her. “Killing him is just as bad, maybe even worse. If I kill him, chances are, his sect will still find out.”
“Oh?” Yaomu Shou gave me the side-eye. “Why do you say that?”
“Because a member of the ten great sects such as the Iron Body Forge Sect most likely has tabs on most if not all of their disciples and chances are that they will be alerted the minute I kill that guy via some life crystal or something.”
“You know!?” Yaomu Shou’s shock returned full force, and that alone told me that everything I just said was correct.
Man, I am on fire today.
Her expression as she stared at me was complex, to say the least, but she can understand me in her own time. Which, to be honest, I wasn’t sure there was enough of.
“I’ve seen too much of this,” I told her.
“From where?” she asked.
“Books, novels, light novels. Things of that ilk,” I wonder if I should write some of those novels and publish them here. Nah, I won’t. Copyright’s an omnipresent bitch.
Yaomu Shou didn’t know what to make of this, but it didn’t matter as Lord Whiskers laid down with an aggrieved look.
I had to make up to him later after this. That was a like a tease or something.
Was this considered blue balls or blue furballs?
“How long do we have?” I asked her.
Realising that I was asking how long it would take till the Iron Body Forge Sect descended, Yaomu Shou answered. “Considering the distance we are from the Iron Body Forge Sect, we have around nine, maybe ten… “
“Weeks?”
“Hours,” Yaomu Shou corrected.
Sweet lord, that’s fast. Goodness, that’s fast.
“You’re—”
Shing, shing, shing…
A crystal that was tied to Yaomu Shou’s side was continuously flashing with a purple light.
“Hold that thought,” Yaomu Shou said, mimicking me.
She took the crystal from her sash and injected it with her spiritual force, and once she saw the information inside, her expression turned ugly.
Shen Ling was the one who bit the bullet as she asked. “What is it?”
Yaomu Shou took a while to collect her wits before looking at Long Di. “You’re a criminal.”
👁🗨
Lun Qiang
I made my way back to the sect as fast as possible and I could feel the cold sweat that soaked my back and the uncomfortable feeling it caused when my robes stuck to it as a result.
“Senior apprentice-brother Lun Qiang, why did we let those people go? They were so disrespectful to us and the sect as well.”
One of the many fools I was travelling with finally spoke up to address the issue that I guess they still weren’t able to figure out.
These idiots don’t even know how close to death we were back then.
“Next time, before you all rush out to fight anyone you see, use your eyes for once!”
They flinched back in fear when I snapped at them. My anger bled out into my words, but I couldn’t help it, nor did I care to.
“D-Did we offend someone we shouldn’t have?”
Another of them asked a question that I thought would have been obvious by now. Since I didn’t want to kill any one of them right now, I decided to answer.
“That child, the human, he unnerves me greatly. More than that, his magical beast, I can tell that its rank isn’t something we can deal with. More than that, there was someone atop it that we are not allowed to interact with right now. We will head back to the sect and report what happened.”
They didn’t ask anything more not like I would have answered. I made sure to keep enough information from them so that things didn’t get overly messy.
I wasn’t sure if what I saw was truly what I saw. I saw a flash of purple, but I could be wrong. Plus, the boy matches the description of someone who was causing a lot of waves in the Demon Region, but the number of people travelling with him doesn’t match what I’ve heard.
Still, if I played my cards right, I would be able to benefit from this immensely.
