After finishing her coffee, Xing Mo said goodbye to the proprietress and left the café.

When she opened the door, a strong gust of wind greeted her, and Xing Mo inexplicably felt like she had walked a long distance.

She strode along Flame Street for a while, then took out the pendulum and activated her spiritual vision to check if there were any spells placed on it.

After a series of routine inspections, Xing Mo confirmed that there was nothing wrong with the pendulum.

It was really just a free gift... Xing Mo sighed and put the delicate silver chain around her neck, tucking it into her blouse.

She strolled toward Splash Street, where she had lunch, then set off for the Western District, near the academy, and went into a library.

It wasn't until the sun kissed the horizon that Xing Mo raised her head from the books and stretched her body: "Uh~ so tired..."

She spent the entire afternoon verifying whether the canvas she weaved together with the proprietress was right, flipping through at least a dozen books for this purpose.

The conclusion drawn was quite straightforward: it was totally possible.

"It's time to go attend the Starsea Mass." Xing Mo put the books back on the shelves and then picked out a few more to read at home.

After checking out the books, Xing Mo left the library.

It rained in the afternoon, so the twilight breeze carried a hint of moisture, making Xing Mo feel comfortable.

After taking the steam railway, Xing Mo arrived at Saint Auroth Cathedral in the Northern District, then pushed open the door and walked in.

The Starsea Mass had already begun. After closing the door behind her, Xing Mo found a seat in the back rows and sat down, watching quietly.

As golden starlight filled the air, Holy Sister Lilis recited the scripture from the pulpit, her voice ethereal and ancient.

Xing Mo felt the Tree of Life brand on the back of her hand burning, indicating that Aurora was absorbing a large amount of faith force.

That lass... where did she go?

Xing Mo looked around, searching the crowd of praying people for Aurora.

When she saw Aurora, her pupils constricted, and she almost stood up—

—there she was, wearing a nun costume, leading a group of small nuns, scattering golden light everywhere!

Aria was next to Aurora, dressed in a nun costume as well, with other young girls wearing nun costumes behind her. The girls were short, none taller than 1.6 meters.

What is this? A loli nun squad? Where did you recruit these people?

No, wait, why are you pretending to be a nun of the Goddess of the Starsea? Are you serious?

Across the crowd, Xing Mo saw a happy smile playing on Aurora's face.

The praying people marveled at the piety of the small nun, who displayed such a joyful smile while serving God and even trembled with excitement.

Only Xing Mo was aware that the lass was gleefully absorbing faith force, having a blast!

As if sensing Xing Mo's gaze, Aurora looked back at her and winked.

"Sigh..." Xing Mo sighed deeply, pretending that nothing happened.

......

"So, where did you get so many small nuns from?"

After the Starsea Mass, Xing Mo looked at the content Aurora, a subtle expression on her face.

At this moment, the small nuns were sweeping the floor with the other nuns of the church, praising the Goddess's grandeur.

Well... the Goddess they were praising was not the same.

"Didn't I tell you I was going to form an armed religious order~" Aurora said smugly, legs crossed. Under her nun costume, she was wearing the academy uniform + short white stockings + school shoes.

"I never thought... they would be so small..." Xing Mo said weakly.

"What's wrong with being small?!" Aurora suddenly seemed a bit prickly, "It's the essence that matters, not the size! You think you're all that because you're big?!"

"I'm not that big either..." Xing Mo smiled.

"Humph~" Aurora tilted her head and put her hands on her hips, then promptly straightened herself up, and her voice became flat: "They are orphans from the Docklands. Aria and I spent the whole afternoon in the Docklands, gathering the little ones, before bringing them to the church."

"Orphans from the Docklands?" Xing Mo was surprised, "They must be Aria's companions."

"Yeah, after all, there are so many immigrants in the Citadel, and many of them can't make it, leaving their children behind." Aurora lowered her head, "I went to take a look and found them huddled together in a small shed, with a leaky roof, living in squalor."

"You call them small. But that's because they have been malnourished since they were little. In fact, most of them are adults. They just look small."

Painting that scene in her mind, Xing Mo suddenly felt a little uncomfortable. The magnificent stained glass on the cathedral's dome suddenly seemed absurdly extravagant.

She deliberated for a moment and then said: "You didn't do anything to them, did you? They seem to have already converted to the Tree of Life."

"I didn't do anything." Aurora looked at the small nuns, "I used the money I won at the hot springs to buy them food and clothes and get them medical treatment, and they cried and said they want to believe in the Tree of Life."

"You see, for those who live in the shadows, a little bit of sunshine is a great blessing."

Aurora smiled at Xing Mo, her eyes seemingly saying: your Goddess doesn't seem to be very popular.

Aware that she had no leg to stand on, Xing Mo just sighed: "You promised not to harm anyone. Don't take advantage of them too much either, okay?"

"What are you saying? I am not your Goddess, I don't view people as tools~"

While Aurora spoke, Aria—wearing a nun costume—walked over. When she saw Xing Mo, she quickly greeted her, nervous: "Lady Saintess... I... I didn't see you earlier, so I didn't come to greet you! I'm sorry!"

Hey! Don't call me Lady Saintess... Xing Mo's brows twitched, but she still maintained a smile on her face: "Aria, your companions have joined the command of the Tree of Life's Goddess. May she bless you."

"Mhm! We will work hard to serve the Goddess!" Aria said loudly, a beaming smile on her face.

Seeing her smile, Xing Mo had mixed emotions. For children from the Docklands, having food to eat and a house to live in is really an extravagant luxury, isn't it?

That's right! Since they come from the Docklands, they should know the area pretty well.

In that case...

Xing Mo regained her composure and said to Aria: "Aria, I have a task for you and your companions. I hope you to carry it out, in the name of the Lord. Don't forget to ensure your safety."

Xing Mo deliberately emphasized the words "don't forget to ensure your safety". After all, the Docklands were quite the chaotic place.

Seeing that the Lady Saintess had a task for, Aria nodded excitedly: "Please tell me! I will definitely complete it!"

Xing Mo handed Aria the picture she got from the café proprietress and uttered: "This is a whale oil factory located in the Docklands. I want you to find it and collect some information about it, such as who it belongs to and the like."

The factory likely hid the key to how Steam Man was "controlled" by imperials, making it potentially a very dangerous place. So Xing Mo didn't want Aria to take excessive risks.

Aria took the picture from Xing Mo, looked at it for a few seconds, and then nodded: "Alright, I got it."

She whistled, and several small nuns put down the brooms in their hands and left through a secret door in the cathedral's wall.

Hey... ease up on the discipline... This makes me feel like I've really become the leader of some secret evil organization... Xing Mo's brow twitched.

After giving the instructions, Xing Mo glanced at Aurora and said: "Wait for me. We'll go back together in a moment."

"Sure, sure." Aurora looked at Xing Mo cheerfully, obviously aware of her intentions.

Xing Mo took a deep breath, then walked to the front of the Starsea Spring and leaned down.

She pretended to perform ablution. But in actuality, she secretly activated her spiritual vision. At the same time, she scooped up a bit of water with her hands and drank it.

Xing Mo wanted to continue to unravel the truth—the shocking truth behind Saint Auroth Cathedral Aurora spoke of.
