Why did Bishop Freyr Sunlight shout "blasphemy" upon witnessing the curse in the Starsea Spring?

Why is the Starsea Spring one of the sources of the curse?

Was it polluted by imperials? That seems a bit far-fetched. The Starsea Spring is a sacred artifact; it couldn't be polluted willy-nilly.

Unless... there was interference from some higher-up?

Sensing the curse filled with dark energy flowing through her throat with her spiritual vision, Xing Mo's vision was shrouded in pitch darkness.

Then, green light tore through the darkness, revealing faint specks of light behind it.

The specks of light assembled together, and a picture gradually took shape in Xing Mo's vision—

—it was a figure with six wings.

They were suspended loftily above the sky dome, emitting light akin to the sun, causing Xing Mo's soul to feel a prickling sensation.

Without a doubt, that was Sun Angel Saint Auroth.

Around that figure, Xing Mo saw other figures of different colors: they had different characteristics and emitted different auras, but they all had six hallow wings.

They were Saint Angels who served the Goddess of the Starsea.

Sun Angel Saint Auroth, Earth Angel Saint Attica, Winter Angel Saint Nero, Pale Angel Saint Kamaraste, Night Angel Saint Anmou, Gnosis Angel Saint Rhun, White Angel Saint Kulos.

Their figures were arrayed under golden starlight, guarding the supreme being above the curtain of the night.

This was the first time Xing Mo had witnessed such a scene. Staring straight at the Angels arrayed under the starry sky, she felt her mind under a heavy strain.

If it weren't for the Tree of Life brand on the back of her hand, she might have suffered a mental breakdown.

But even in her capacity as a God's retainer, Xing Mo knew she probably wouldn't be able to look directly at the figures of the Angels for too long.

I must withdraw my gaze... As she thought this, she was ready to disconnect herself from the spiritual realm.

However, at this moment, Xing Mo suddenly noticed something unusual.

She discovered that among the figures of the Angels, the figures of Sun Angel Saint Auroth and Winter Angel Saint Nero were emitting a faint black color.

That color, it was similar to that of a curse.

Then, sunshine came, accompanied by a violent mental shock—

Xing Mo came back to her senses abruptly. She turned her head and met the limpid and bright eyes of Holy Nun Lilis.

"My child, are you alright?" She held Xing Mo's shoulder, worried.

Xing Mo took a deep breath, then suddenly realized her face was covered with water—she might have fallen into the spring just now.

"I... I'm fine..." Xing Mo said softly, "I'm really okay..."

She covered her throbbing forehead, then calmed her racing heart.

What does this mean...? The two Angels were exuding the color of the curse?

Did the curse spread to the Angels through the Starsea Spring?

That's impossible... those are Angels who serve the Goddess... how could they be polluted by a curse?

Could it be... the curse comes from the Angels? No... that's even more preposterous. Angels have no reason to undermine the source of their faith force. They would never actively harm believers who provide them with power. That would be self-sabotage.

But then... why?

Her thoughts turned into a chaotic river, that was cut apart by countless blades in a split second. Xing Mo suddenly felt a sharp pain in her forehead.

She clasped her head with her hands, suppressing the urge to cry out, her vision darkening.

"My child, are you okay? My child?" Lilis's voice sounded beside her ear.

I... I'm fine... Xing Mo wanted to speak, yet couldn't.

At this moment, she felt herself being hugged.

"Sister, don't hurt... a kiss will make the pain go away..."

Someone kissed Xing Mo on the forehead, then hugged her tightly, burying her head into their arms.

A surge of power poured into her body, and Xing Mo felt her mind calm down considerably, becoming drowsy.

Before losing consciousness, Xing Mo raised her head and saw Aurora's blood-red eyes.

"Aurora..." Xing Mo's voice was soft.

"It's okay... it's okay... it's all okay..."

Along with Aurora's murmured, Xing Mo's consciousness gradually turned fuzzy, her vision covered by a gray curtain.

Behind the curtain, far, far away, Xing Mo heard someone whisper: "Don't die... don't die, okay..."

......

"Mmm..." When she woke up, Xing Mo found herself curled up in the bed of Nevirabeta's dorm room, wearing a nightgown.

"Awake?"

A faint fragrance wafted over, and Xing Mo turned her head and met Aurora's big eyes. The pair of heart-shaped pupils looking at her calmly.

No matter how many times I look at them, I can't help but feel that the shape of these pupils isn't quite right...

Xing Mo sighed and rubber her head, then suddenly noticed the scent of soap coming from her body.

"Did you wash me?" She suddenly panicked.

"Of course. After all, I have very high standards when it comes to the cleanliness of my pillow."

As she spoke, Aurora's eyes suddenly became sharp: "Where did that pendulum come from? I've never seen you wear it before."

"A friend gave it to me." Xing Mo replied.

She had no intention of telling Aurora about the café proprietress.

The expression on Aurora's face became inscrutable, but then was quickly replaced by a bright smile: "You saw the projections of Angels through the Starsea Spring. If you weren't my retainer, you would have died on the spot."

"I've realized that already." Xing Mo rubbed her forehead, "But... my head still hurts..."

Xing Mo closed her eyes. All of a sudden, flickering orbs of light emerged from the depths of her soul.

"Wait... I seem to have..."

"Received a revelation involving Saint Auroth?" Aurora chuckled, "Let's see what it is."

Xing Mo took a deep breath, calmed herself, and quietly let her soul merge with the flickering orbs of light.

During the merger, she felt emotions of pain.

It wasn't her pain, but someone else's. Xing Mo saw a glass pane, with a person on the other side, scream and hit the glass in despair.

During this process, several string lights lit up in the darkness: five of fire... one of starlight...

Seeing the intersecting paths of those strings, Xing Mo's eyes widened abruptly.

That's six string magic!

From Sun Angel's residual revelation, Xing Mo obtained information about a six string magic!

"Embers of the Fire..." Xing Mo murmured in a low voice.

The residual images flashed before her eyes: she saw Sun Angel Saint Auroth exhale in the pitch-black night sky, their figure seemed to expand instantly, and a vortex of six wings of light, larger than their figure, swirled around, purifying the surrounding darkness.

"Seems like new knowledge." Aurora appeared to be able to read Xing Mo's thoughts, "Five of fire... one of starlight, meaning six string magic?"

Xing Mo breathed out: "And it's a very powerful magic, symbolizing supreme purification. But my upper limit is only five strings. In order to cast it, I'm afraid I will need the assistance of a ritual."

Aurora smiled: "Not bad, Young Saintess, you look more and more like a retainer of an Evil God; learning to steal skills from Saint Angels, huh?"

"..." Xing Mo didn't know how to respond.

After confirming her mind had stabilized, Xing Mo uttered: "I saw two Angels entangled by a curse... how is that possible?"

Those are exalted Angels, how could they be polluted by a curse?

"You'll have to ask their believers." Aurora said with a hint of Schadenfreude, "Saint Auroth's is the Northern District. If the believers in the Northern District are flourishing, then Saint Auroth will be thriving as well."

"If Saint Auroth isn't thriving, then there must be something wrong with the believers."

"Of course, it could also be the other way around." Aurora's smile became mysterious.
