Special District 9 Chapter 139: The Humans Are Gone. Only Beasts Remain In The Jungle

Inside the storage facility.

Sitting on a chair, Zhang Tian put his signature down on several stock transfer agreements and contracts that were prepared beforehand before he rose to his feet and said, “We’re leaving!”

However, the henchmen that were holding Zhang Tian’s brother-in-law in place didn’t budge at all.

“Fuck! Release my men!” Zhang Tian howled angrily.

Baldie placed the documents neatly into a cowskin folder and tossed it over to Yuan Ke. Then, he kneeled down before Zhang Tian and said, “If you must hate someone, hate me. I was the one who let you down.”

Zhang Tian gazed down at Baldie and said wryly, “Haha, I should be blaming myself for the plight I am in. I deserved this for being too bloody soft-hearted!”

Baldie’s lips trembled a little, but he didn’t say a word.

“Let them go!” Xiao Jiu shouted to the henchmen.

The henchmen quickly put down their guns and stepped aside so that Zhang Tian’s brother-in-law and the others could leave the area.

Zhang Tian stretched his wrist before he turned to Yuan Ke and bellowed, “You’ll be struck by lightning if you dare let Baldie down!”

After that, the group of them left the room together.

Yuan Ke placed the contract down on the crate before rushing forward to pull Baldie up.

“… I’ve done something that disgusts even myself.” Baldie looked as if he had suddenly aged ten years. He turned to Yuan Ke and said, “If the company manages to tide through this crisis, you must make sure to repay Zhang Tian.”

“I will!” Yuan Ke replied solemnly.

After saying those words, Baldie turned to look at Zhang Tian’s departing figure with conflicted emotions in his heart before gesturing to the crowd, “Let’s have a drink together!”

Guangdang!

It was at this moment that a commotion suddenly sounded at the entrance of the storage facility. Ol’ Three had staggered in with the smell of alcohol cloaking his body. He looked at Zhang Tian and asked, “You’re leaving?”

“Get lost!” Zhang Tian growled.

“Fuck you!” Ol’ Three stood his ground as he cursed coldly at Zhang Tian.

Everyone within the storage facility was stunned to hear those words.

“Who are you cursing?” Zhang Tian, who had just stomached a lifetime of indignance, stared at Ol’ Three in disbelief before flying into a rage. “Try saying that once more!”

“You son of bitch didn’t hear me? Fuck you!” Ol’ Three bellowed once more.

“You bloody twat!” The agitated Zhang Tian stretched his hand forth to strangle Ol’ Three.

It was then that Baldie snapped out from his astonishment and rushed forward, shouting, “Ol’ Three, what are you doing?!”

Pah!

Zhang Tian threw a slap onto Ol’ Three’s face as he bellowed, “Get lost!”

“You fucker! Brother Hua treated you so well, but you’re turning your back on the company while it is facing difficulties. Do you call yourself a human?” Ol’ Three bellowed as he whipped out a gun.

Zhang Tian was stunned. He suddenly felt an ominous sensation in the pit of his stomach.

“Ol’ Three!” Baldie roared in astonishment. He dashed forward frantically as if a madman.

Ol’ Three pointed his gun firmly at Zhang Tian as he hollered with a cracked voice, “A traitor of the company deserves to be gunned down!”

“Ol’ Three, don’t you dare!” Baldie shouted.

Zhang Tian staggered backward fearfully.

Bang bang bang!

Three gunshots sounded. Zhang Tian was shot in the chest, and he lurched backward from the force.

Baldie was taken aback, Xiao Jiu was stunned, and everyone in the room was flabbergasted. Only Yuan Ke continued to stare at Zhang Tian with tightly clenched fists.

Two seconds later, Zhang Tian collapsed to the ground. As his body convulsed with the final breaths of life in him, he turned to look at Yuan Ke.

Bang!

Ol’ Three fired straight at Zhang Tian’s head, causing blood to splatter all over the ground.

“Tian-er!”

“Brother-in-law!”

“…!”

Zhang Tian’s brother-in-law and the middle-aged man immediately dashed toward Zhang Tian’s side.

“You are conspirators too. All of you deserve to die!” Ol’ Three’s body had stiffened up, and his limbs were trembling from fright. Yet, he continued to shout furiously as he pulled his trigger yet again.

Bang bang bang!

Three more gunshots sounded, and Zhang Tian’s brother-in-law and the middle-aged man collapsed by Zhang Tian’s side.

Despite having killed them all, Ol’ Three still continued to pull the trigger of his empty gun as if he had lost his mind, causing clicking sounds to echo loudly again and again in the storage facility.

Baldie rushed up and kicked Ol’ Three in his waist. He pulled Ol’ Three up by his collar and shouted into his face, “You fucking lunatic!”

Ol’ Three was pushed against the wall in a daze by the frenzied Baldie, not retaliating at all as the frenzied Baldie threw a punch toward him.

Baldie rained blow after blow on Ol’ Three’s face as he bellowed, “What the fuck are you thinking? He has already handed over his authority! Must you really go to such lengths to kill him?”

Putong! Yuan Ke dropped down to the ground on his bum as he stared at Zhang Tian with a blank face, not saying anything at all.

Xiao Jiu shot a glance at Yuan Ke before finally saying, “Pull Brother Baldie away.”

By the entrance of the storage facility, Baldie punched Ol’ Three with a mess of tears on his face. “Do you think that you are justified to do this? Ah? There’s no turning back once the gun is shot, no turning back! Do you get that?!”

Ol’ Three’s nose was bleeding, and he stared at Baldie with empty eyes, “Bro, all of you have your own stands. Am I not worthy to have my own stand too?”

Baldie was stunned by those words..

“I have my own stand too!” Ol’ Three’s eyes firmed up as he spoke with conviction. “From this day on, anyone who tries to mess with Yuan Ke will be messing with me too! I have lost my uniform, and I have killed Zhang Tian too… If Yuan Ke were to be done in, I’ll be a goner too!”

“You’re pushing me to a corner!” Yuan Ke suddenly roared angrily as he charged up to Ol’ Three in a huff. “Who told you that you could make decisions on my behalf? Who told you to?!”

“If he survives, it’s only a matter of time before he comes after you!” Ol’ Three hollered with widened eyes. “He’s not the only one. I’ll kill everyone that follows him too! We have already fallen out with one another! We’ll be fools to hesitate at a moment like this!”

Baldie staggered backward in a daze upon hearing those words. He turned stiffly to look at Yuan Ke before turning his gaze back on Zhang Tian. He felt that the streets that he thought he was very familiar with had suddenly turned so frighteningly foreign.

Songjiang.

The sound of someone prying open a door echoed at the doorway of the house of Yuan Hua’s Fourth Mistress. Yuan Hua’s Fourth Mistress was sitting on the sofa talking on the phone, oblivious to what was happening.

Guangdang!

The door suddenly opened, and two dirty and emaciated little boys holding sharp knives looked at Yuan Hua’s Fourth Mistress with eyes that were swimming around from fear.

“Who are you?!” The Fourth Mistress leaped to her feet and backed away in shock.

“W-we’re burglars.”

“The money is in the drawer, take it yourself!” the Fourth Mistress unhesitatingly pointed to the drawer as she backed away fearfully.

The two little boys suddenly lurched forward, but their target wasn’t the drawer but the person who pointed it out to them.

“What are you doing?” the Fourth Mistress shrieked in despair.

Puchi!

Puchi!

“…!”

The two young and ignorant boys plunged their knives cruelly into a middle-aged woman, completely casting aside whatever shreds of morals or values they had.

Several minutes later, they scraped every bit of wealth inside the house clean before dashing out of the opened doors.

Fengbei’s Xing Family.

Just as Xing Zilin was heading up the stairs, the phone in his pocket rang. It was Yuan Ke’s number. After some thoughts, he chose to reject the call.

Tens of seconds later, when Xing Zilin was standing right before his father’s study, readying himself to knock on the door, his phone rang once more.

Looking at the caller id, he noticed that it was from one of the executives in the company. He quickly accepted the call, “Hello?”

“Zhang Tian is dead.”

“…!” Xing Zilin froze on the spot.

“Yuan Ke called me earlier. He says that he’s looking for you. I think you should accept his call,” the executive said.

Xing Zilin stood before his father’s study in a daze. For a while, he was unable to react at all.

Jiya!

The door to the study suddenly opened. A withered-looking Fatty Xing asked impatiently, “What?”

Xing Zilin stared at his father blankly for the briefest of moments before quickly replying, “Nothing. I had the kitchen prepare some porridge. You should have a bite.”

Meanwhile.

After receiving the documents that Zhu Wei had sent over, Superintendent Li immediately dialed a number and said, “Ask Fatty Xing out. It’s time for a show hand.”
