When she saw Chen Kai’s call, it seemed as though Sheng Xian’s phone number was waving towards her enthusiastically.

She answered the call as she squeezed out toothpaste, and remained demurely silent.

Chen Kai started, “Little Yan, did you meet my cousin last night?”

Lu Jingyan replied while brushing her teeth, feigning ignorance, “How did you know?”

Chen Kai said, “My cousin called me this morning, asking who was the smoking delinquent girl who arrived the latest the night before.”

Lu Jingyan was gargling and she almost choked when she heard his reply.

The smoking delinquent girl that arrived the latest.

That was how he viewed her?

“It was definitely you so I gave him your name and asked if he was interested.”

Lu Jingyan’s ears swished up, “What did he say?”

Chen Kai replied, “Ah? My cousin told me to visit the doctor, neurologist.”

“...” Lu Jingyan went silent for two seconds and kept her toothbrush, “What else?”

Chen Kai continued, “Oh, my cousin said you left something in the bar…”

Lu Jingyan was just about to instruct him not to agree if his cousin got him to pass it to her but Chen Kai continued, “He said it seemed rather expensive so he left it at the nearby police station for safety purposes. He told you to bring your identification card along when you collect it.”

Lu Jingyan, “...”

Lu Jingyan shut her eyes, telling herself it was alright, even though she couldn’t use this opportunity to meet him, she could use it to express her gratitude. It wasn’t entirely a lost cause.

But Chen Kai added, “My cousin also said he didn’t like gratitude in any form, verbal or physical, so you can forget it.”

Lu Jingyan almost cursed.

He didn’t leave her with any chance, blocking off all the paths.

Lu Jingyan clenched her teeth and inhaled deeply, “What else did he say?”

“Mmh, I think that’s all.” Chen Kai replied with uncertainty.

This meant that he had to choose between his cousin or her.

Her good mood vanished after receiving the call.

Lu Jingyan wasn’t a competitive person, or perhaps it was because she was born outstanding and rarely lost to others. Hence, it didn’t matter much when she lost the few times it happened. But this time, she couldn’t accept it, and it occupied her thoughts the entire afternoon.

During her lunch break, she went to the police station to claim her watch. On her way back, she was stuck in a traffic jam that lasted for half an hour.

The entire trip took more than an hour, causing her to miss her lunch break and coffee break. She was infuriated.

She had been dabbling in the world of scums for many years and had never slipped up before. If she didn’t get the phone number by today, it would mean that her years of effort had been a waste.

Be it a last ditch effort or for her ego, she had to get the number by today.

Lu Jingyan stared at the computer screen, she twirled her pen for a while and took out her phone, releasing Chen Kai from her blacklist.

Chen Kai, “Yanyan, what do you want? I’ll give you anything, even my life, just not anything to do with my cousin.”

The screen showed that he was typing for a very long time, but the message didn’t come through.

Lu Jingyan arched her brow and chuckled lightly. She copied the address and went to Starbucks’ Official website.

There was an order list on the Starbucks bag, he ripped it off and looked at it. It was indeed his address but the name field was empty and the number field had an unknown number.

Did one of the professors enter the wrong address?

Sheng Xian sent a text to the number on the orderlist, “Hello, your coffee was sent to the wrong address.”

Before he could finish typing, his phone vibrated a few times.

It was from the unknown number.

There were four messages.

“It isn’t wrong.”

“The coffee is for you.”

“The coffee treat is for me to get your number.”

“Brother.”

Sheng Xian’s fingers paused.

Seeing his silence, the teacher assistant asked, “Prof, the coffee…”

Sheng Xian looked up, “The coffee is for me.”

“Ah?” The teacher assistant was curious, “Who is it from?”

Sheng Xian remained silent, he glanced at the ‘brother’ on the screen and after a while, he replied softly, “An elementary school student.”
