I'll Still Love You Tomorrow Chapter 37: To Take Care of My Health

Lu Hongcheng was referring to her cousin, his second son.

Lu Jingyan rarely rebutted him but today, she couldn't seem to control herself, “So? I can ditch Mr Yang after second brother takes down the project?”

This wasn’t the first time.

In the past, she thought he had really arranged a blind date for her but afterwards, she realized it was for a partnership.

Sometimes, she wondered if he would use her if she was his biological daughter.

Lu Jingyan smirked and lowered her head, her voice calm, “You don’t have to make things so troublesome, you can just get second brother to crossdress or head over to Thailand to settle this matter. I recommend the former, it would be more convenient in case he meets a guy that is gay.”

Lu Jingyan froze momentarily, when her words sunk in, he erupted, “What’s with your attitude? Who taught you to be so disrespectful! You can’t talk about your second brother like that.”

Lu Hongcheng was pretty good at nagging but he was probably too angry to say much.

He glared at her for a few seconds and bellowed, “Stop the car!”

“Stop the car now!”

His secretary hurriedly stopped by the road side.

Lu Hongcheng pointed outside the car, “Get out now!”

Lu Jingyan wore her jacket and left the car calmly.

The next second, the car zoomed off.

Lu Jingyan stopped by the roadside, she held onto the railings and stretched her head out, struggling to look at the road sign.

She was in a mountainous area and at night, there were only private cars around.

Lu Jingyan leaned against the cold railing for a while but there wasn’t a cab in sight.

She reached for her phone and pressed into the WeChat app. Sheng Xian was at the top of her chat list, she pressed her lips together and scrolled lower.

When she saw Chen Kai’s name, she pressed in and sent him her location.

Lu Jingyan, “Come get me.”

In less than ten minutes, Chen Kai arrived in the flamboyant sports car he had gotten himself on his birthday.

She entered the car and asked, “How did you get here so quickly?”

“I’m at the bar nearby. I just ordered a drink but came over before I had a sip.” He paused and asked, “What are you doing here?”

She replied, “Ah.”

Chen Kai glanced at her but didn’t probe further.

After a while, he asked, “Do you want a drink?”

Lu Jingyan looked out the window and replied lazily, “Sure.”

Lu Jingyan didn’t ask who he was drinking with and he didn’t volunteer the information.

When they reached the bar, the table he had booked was still empty.

Lu Jingyan sat opposite him.

Chen Kai reached for a box of cigarettes with familiar ease, tapped one out and passed it to Lu Jingyan, “Want one?”

Lu Jingyan shook her head, as she twirled the wine glass, “I quit.”

Chen Kai bit down on the cigarette and lit it with a lighter, “Why did you suddenly quit?”

Lu Jingyan looked at him emotionlessly, “For my health.”

Chen Kai burst into laughter, “You? For your health? No one is going to believe that.”

Lu Jingyan rolled her eyes, not bothering with him.

She drank half her glass of wine, and kicked him from under the table, “Hey, I have something to ask you.”

Chen Kai blew a puff of smoke at her, “Young Lady Lu, fire away.”

Lu Jingyan frowned and waved away the smoke, “Where did your cousin attend his elementary, middle and high school?”

Chen Kai shook his head, “I don’t know.”

Lu Jingyan looked at him with a straight face.

“I really don’t know, there’s no reason to lie to you. I only got to know him last year.”

Lu Jingyan asked, “Last year?”

“Strictly speaking, he isn’t really my cousin, we’re not blood related. He is from my aunt’s husband’s previous marriage. My aunt gave birth to a son and daughter after, they just share the same father. I know she has a step son but I only got to meet him last year so I don’t know much about him.”

“I see.” Lu Jingyan paused and asked, “Are you close to him now?”

“We’re pretty close, closer than the two younger ones.”

Chen Kai was referring to Sheng Xian’s half siblings.

Lu Jingyan blinked, “Have your cousin mentioned any girl he tried to chase in the past?”

“No.”

“What about a goddess? The kind you secretly crush on.”

“No.”

“……”

Chen Kai asked, “What’s with the questions?”

“Nothing much, I’m just trying to figure out if you're really close to your cousin.” Unable to get any information, Lu Jingyan cursed Chen Kai internally. She raised her head and asked, “The facts show that you’re not close to him at all.”
