Long ago, he knew a girl.

He wanted to describe her but after going through all the words in the dictionary, he still wasn’t able to find anything.

She was pretty, elegant, and was well versed in dance and the piano. Her eyes were so clean it seemed like the pristine and untouched water from the top of a mountain.

When she saw beggars on the overhead bridge, she would give them money with a small smile. When it rained, she would ask the driver to stop the car and help an old man push his pushcart. On the weekends, she would volunteer at an orphanage.

Back then, her eyes were warm and she would speak to everyone politely with a small smile.

He couldn’t find any flaw.

She was every man’s goddess.

He called her, his dream girl.

Lu Jingyan stilled for a long while before asking, “What do you mean?”

Sheng Xian's throat moved but he didn’t say anything.

Lu Jingyan persisted, “You knew me before? When?”

Sheng Xian stared at her, he licked his lips but didn’t answer her question. Instead, he paused for a few seconds before saying, “Forget it, pretend I didn’t find you.”

He stayed a moment longer and left.

Lu Jingyan watched his silhouette, she hesitated but didn’t get down the car.

Back home, after putting down her luggage, she received a call from Lu Hongcheng.

Lu Jingyan let it ring for a while before answering the call.

Before she could get in a word, Lu Hongcheng lamented, “Why did you take such a long time to answer the call?”

Lu Jingyan shut her eyes and struggled to sound calm, “I was in the washroom.”

Lu Hongcheng didn’t continue to scold her, and continued in an unkind tone, “Don’t forget about the dinner with Mr Yang tonight and treat him well. I’ve already thought of an excuse for you, tell him it was an accident the previous time. Don’t screw it up again.”

Lu Jingyan has heard this phrase many times over the years, she lowered her lids and replied in a perfunctory voice, “Mmh.”
