“It’s fine, there’s no need for that,” He Jiang refused. Instead, he reached out and cut out three slices of cake.

Even though the sponge cake and cream still had a sweet fragrance to it, the diced strawberries and mangoes had lost their initial luster together with the decorative flowers which looked a little deformed, and the nuts had lost their crunch.

Regardless, He Jiang proceeded to vacuum-seal and store them in the cold room of his city-center apartment with the help of Xiao Bei.

There was no purpose in redeeming an expired birthday cake.

He merely wanted them to remind himself to never leave Puppy Shang alone ever again.

Without any prompting, he transferred payment for the cakes to the security guard but was quickly rejected by the latter.

“You’ve just taken three slices of your own birthday cake. How can I accept payment from you?”
