Chapter 673: When the Rain Continues
The old elder lost sight of him just as quickly as the tsunamic wave of the black water rose and came crashing down on what was once a lively place to purloin what made it so.

Long Di and the others didn’t know what was happening back in Cang Bian City. They just continued on their journey with little interest save for their destination.
Everyone was surprised when Violet Flame Noble advised them that at their current speed, they would reach the Ren’duan Dwelling in a little over three days.
Since this was the case, they already decided they would take a break along the way. They already expected Qin Ling to catch up with them eventually, so there was nothing wrong with this.
Wei Yun remained detached from everyone. Normally, this would be chalked up as her being aloof, but there was a touch of sadness under her frosty interior.
“So you know Qin Ling since she joined the Ice Phoenix Hall, am I right?” Mina was curious about Qin Ling and her extreme shift in behaviour.
Well, she was curious about that AND she wanted to save the climax of the manga she was reading for later. So she might as well get to know the latest addition to what she could only describe as the most dysfunctional group in the world.
Of course, she chalked this up to mainly two individuals. Plus, everyone else was busy.
Long Di was embroiled in conversation with Pebbles, Shen Ling was talking with Xiannu Liang with a very visible blush on the latter’s face and Violet Flame Noble was cultivating at the back.
It made sense that he was one of the best she figured. Using every waking moment to make sure that you were stronger than you were yesterday, an hour ago, a minute or even a second ago, would bear results that exceeded the majority.
“What do you want?” Whatever sadness it was that was peeking through her visage was now gone, frosted over by her chilly mien.
“Put your cold face away before you hurt yourself,” Mina told her. “I’ve dealt with Long Di since he was a baby, you’re showing off your feeble skills in front of a real expert,” she pointed with her thumb at Long Di before she came over and sat down in front of her, inspecting her closely.
They were still on top of Lord Whiskers’s massive body, but the shield that Long Di erected made it easy to move around.
Mina then started, “I’ve known Qin Ling–”
“The Divine Daughter!” Wei Yun hissed.
“I will slap the shit out of you,” Mina shot back after being interrupted.
“You dare!?”
Boom!
Wei Yun was not someone to tolerate such disrespect. After all, she was one of the Five Nobles, Ice Star Yun.
Not every single one of them had the word Noble in their titles, but they were all a part of the Five Nobles, nonetheless.
Though Wei Yun could rein in her emotions, it didn’t mean she would always do so for people to disrespect her. As a part of the Five Nobles, she was immediately angered when a nobody like Mina uttered such words.
Her aura exploded and a cold wind buffeted Mina, yet the goddess didn’t even flinch in the face of this.
Mina pulled a Long Di and stared at Wei Yun with the most ‘I don’t give a damn’ face there ever was (barring Long Di).
Wei Yun suddenly felt a gaze boring into her and she turned her head to see Pebbles and Long Di staring at her. She didn’t know why but she felt great unease being stared at by the two of them in such a way.
That was a lie. After Long Di’s performance, she knew why she felt this way. However, she felt even greater danger of being stared at by that cat thing.
After a while, she reluctantly reined in her aura and, seeing that they retracted her gaze, quietly released a breath of relief.
“Let’s try that again shall we?” Mina said with a faint smile. Only she was aware of the kind of relationship she had with that stupid cat and the screwed-up Long Di. It was ‘toxic as all hell’ but it was the toxicity she understood she had a hand in making and accepted it for what it was.
She, Long Di, and Pebbles could give each other crap for as long as they wanted but nobody outside of their circle could hurt the other without vicious reprisal.
Wei Yun wasn’t stupid either. She understood right then and there, that this Mina was protected in the presence of these two.
Also, something else became apparent to her. Shen Ling and Xiannu Liang didn’t even flinch at her earlier actions. They carried on with their conversation as if nothing had happened.
This meant that they, weaker than her they may be, understood that she wouldn’t be able to kick up any waves here.
“What do you want to know?” Wei Yun decided it would be best to just hold back for now.
“Like I said,” Mina continued. “I’ve seen Qin Ling a few times when I sneaked out of the Long family grounds. She was a little cold, but she was never like that. She’s changed a lot since then and something about it feels unnatural.”
Wei Yun’s mood sharply fell once again when she heard this, and she answered. “It’s her natural state.”
Mina’s brows furrowed. “What does that mean?”
“I-I can’t say too much,” Wei Yun bit her lips.
Mina wanted to push further. “You–”
“She has the Cold Heart True Ice Physique. Is that what you meant?” Long Di’s voice drifted over.
Wei Yun turned to see Long Di just coming by to sit down beside her. Pebbles was sleeping away where he was conversing with Long Di earlier.
“I—I” Wei Yun hesitated to say. She knew she couldn’t get close with any of these people since she had her mission to think about, but this particular issue was a sore spot for her.
“Listen,” Long Di steadied his gaze on her. “You want me to help Qin Ling and before all this, I had no reservations in doing so, but something changed in the terms and conditions that nobody ever reads.”
“Wha–”
Wei Yun evinced confusion while Mina nodded in understanding. Nevertheless, Long Di continued. “She changed and something tells me you guys are responsible. Your sect in some way changed her. You don’t even seem all that happy about it. So you telling us is helping her. Sooo… help.”
Wei Yun fiddled with her fingers as she thought about it. She was fighting some internal battle, obviously to decide whether to speak on the matter or not.
Long Di would be killed eventually and everyone else as well. If telling him made him more compliant, then surely there would be no harm… right?
“It’s the effects of her partially awakening her physique,” Wei Yun admitted.
“That’s why her hair changed?” Long Di was a bit taken aback when he saw the subtle changes in Qin Ling’s appearance, such as more of her hair turning a wintry crystal.
Wei Yun nodded, letting him know he was right. “Even though she was cold on the outside most of the time, she was still warm to the people she cared about. However, after she practised the Icy Heart Mantra, she turned out this way.”
Long Di revealed interest at that. “Roll that back. What’s the Icy Heart Mantra?”
Wei Yun went tight-lipped once more as her gaze swapped hurt for pensiveness.
“You don’t have to tell me the mantra,” Long Di could tell that this touched upon the secret of Ice Phoenix Hall. He knew that there were loads of secrets there, but he had too much on his plate to care about those.
Her gaze softened the tiniest bit when Long Di said he didn’t want to know what the mantra was specifically.
“It’s a secret art of Ice Phoenix Hall that only those with the Cold Heart True Ice Physique are qualified to practise. It’s supposed to help them to awaken it.”
“Awaken it?” Long Di’s brows furrowed. “Isn’t her physique already awakened?”
“Of course not,” Wei Yun looked at him as if she was looking at an idiot. “The Cold Heart True Ice Physique is one of the Five Holy Physiques. Not even one percent of its power is being used. If the Divine Daughter can truly awaken it, she will become a terrifying existence that no one will be able to match.”
Long Di descended into rumination with this. ‘So the Icy Heart Mantra is the reason she’s like this. If it’s awakening her physique, then I guess this is just the way things are supposed to be. It seems off somehow.”
[Those wretched old shrews are still doing such a thing.]
‘Steely? You’re awake?’ Long Di was surprised to hear from the Destiny Scale so quickly.
[I’ve been awake for some time now. Something disturbing drew my attention but this matter is just tiring.] The Destiny Scale admitted.
‘I see you’re going far on your path to cultivating the dao of heading to the store for milk.’ Long Di told the Destiny Scale.
[I don’t know what that dao is, but it sounds beset with disappointment and filled with bums.]
