“This restaurant is known for its Eggs Benedict. Want to give it a try?” Song Shiyu recommended.

Eggs Benedict was a particularly troublesome dish to prepare. It looked like a hamburger filled with meat and vegetables, but its bread was replaced with a poached egg and rich sauce was drizzled on the upper layer instead of the inside. 

Even making a perfect poached egg with flowing liquid gold was a daunting task, but a good Eggs Benedict required all of the components to be prepared simultaneously.

Ji Fanyin had tried making it herself several times at home. It was delicious, but the effort put into it was hardly worthwhile.

Though it was a different case now that she was in a restaurant.

Looking at the selection of Eggs Benedicts where the prices started from 188 dollars, Ji Fanyin decisively chose the most expensive one. “I’ll have the Beef Eggs Benedict and a cup of freshly-squeezed orange juice.”

“Same as her, but I’ll have a cup of latte instead,” Song Shiyu added to the order list without looking at the menu.

The waiter confirmed their orders once more before walking away. 

Ji Fanyin leisurely rested her chin on her arm and asked teasingly, “You haven’t eaten either?”

“… I left an hour in advance to meet you as soon as possible,” replied Song Shiyu with a smile. “I had to drop by the office first, so I haven’t eaten either.”

“No matter how busy you are, you mustn’t neglect your own health,” said Ji Fanyin concernedly. “Have you forgotten how you caught a fever in the middle of the night last time?”

Song Shiyu lowered his eyes and muttered, “It’s still etched in my mind. You were the one who took care of me that day. I haven’t thanked you for that yet… The congee was delicious.”

Ji Fanyin blinked her eyes contemplatively. “You’re being too courteous with me. You just have to take care of yourself and make sure that you don’t fall sick again. That’s the best way you can repay me.”
