Chapter 61.2
Half an hour later, Xing Mo, dressed in the academy uniform, stepped out of the fitting room, her face flushed.
Behind her, Alice beamed with satisfaction, "Hmm~ Mo-mo, you look adorable~"
With a wave of her wand, the clothes folded neatly and floated into a bag.
She jotted down Miriam's apartment address and handed it to Rose:"Have these delivered to this address."
Then, patting Xing Mo’s shoulder, Alice said, "Alright, time for the real event."
Xing Mo’s voice was barely above a whisper: "What kind of event?"
Alice’s smile turned mysterious: "Didn’t you say you wanted to ride a steam airship? Let’s have a meal first—then I’ll take you for a ride!"
Before Xing Mo could react, Alice had already whisked her into the manor’s banquet hall. A group of maids dressed her in an apron, handed her cutlery, and seated her at a dining table. Xing Mo blinked in confusion.
Then, plate after plate of extravagant dishes appeared before her. The food sparkled under the chandelier’s glow, each dish more exquisite than the last.
"Senior Alice... isn’t this a bit much?" Xing Mo averted her gaze.
Alice, however, remained unfazed. She gave a few instructions to the maids before turning back to her, "It’s just a simple meal, no need to feel awkward."
"A simple meal...?" Xing Mo stared at the spread—at least a dozen dishes, "There’s no way I can finish all this..."
Just earlier, I was admiring how Senior Alice didn’t put on the airs of nobility… and now—this feast?! Isn’t this just wasteful extravagance?!
As if reading her thoughts, Alice promptly said, "Oh, don’t worry about that."
She clapped her hands and called out, "Sheila, Leah, Mia, everyone—let's eat!"
At her call, three little girls peeked out, then scurried over and sat next to Alice, their curious eyes fixed on Xing Mo.
So these are Senior Alice’s younger sisters...
Xing Mo studied the three girls. They all had red hair, dark red eyes, and wore simple yet elegant dresses, carrying themselves with the grace of young ladies.
They were adorable.
Once the little ones were seated, the maids and butlers also took their places. Soon, the long dining table was filled.
“At noon, we usually share a meal with everyone who works in the manor.” Alice said with a light smile, “Mo-mo—cough—Junior Xing Sheng, since this is your first time here, you probably wouldn’t know.”
“Mm, I didn’t.” Xing Mo nodded.
A noble who dines with their servants... Senior Alice really doesn’t put on any airs.
Seeing everyone else eating comfortably, Xing Mo relaxed and began her meal.
The three little girls chatted among themselves for a while before one of them hesitantly poked Alice.
“What is it, Sheila?” Alice turned to her.
Sheila glanced at Xing Mo, then asked softly, “Big Sister, who is that big sister?”
“She’s my junior at the academy, Xing Sheng. Isn’t she cute?” Alice said with a teasing smile.
Xing Mo’s cheeks burned. She quickly lowered her head, avoiding the little girls’ curious gazes.
Sheila nodded, then returned to her conversation with her sisters. A few moments later, she poked Alice again.
“Big Sister, you brought a new big sister home. Does that mean you broke up with Big Sister Vivian?”
"Pfft—!" Alice nearly choked, “What kind of nonsense is that?! Why would we break up?! Leah! Have you been reading weird things to your sisters again?”
She fished out her wand and flicked it, and a book flew out from under Leah’s skirt.
“Wah! Big Sister, that’s my book!” Leah jumped up on tiptoe, waving her chubby, little hands, but the book floated out of reach.
Alice caught it, glanced at the cover, and her expression darkened.
Curious, Xing Mo leaned over.
The title read: Flowers in Full Bloom.
Wait…isn’t this the yuri novel Aurora was reading?
Alice flipped open the book, skimmed a few lines, then shot Leah a noticeably less friendly look.
Sensing her big sister’s impending scolding, Leah stuck out her tongue sheepishly, “It’s really sweet~”
Alice took a deep breath, suppressing the urge to lecture her on the spot. She set the book down on the table and spoke seriously to her younger sisters, “You’re too young to be reading things like this, okay? Romance between girls is perfectly normal, but—”
“Then can I marry you when I grow up, Big Sister?” Mia suddenly raised her hand.
“Obviously not. We’re siblings.” Alice said flatly.
“But we all like you…”
“It’s still not okay.”
“Boo hoo, we’ll share you between the three of us…”
“You can’t.”
The maids and butlers chuckled at the exchange, watching Alice attempt to educate her mischievous sisters. The dining hall buzzed with warmth and laughter.
Xing Mo, feeling the lighthearted atmosphere, found herself smiling. A gentle warmth spread in her chest.
A family… it’s really nice…
For some reason, her thoughts drifted to Aurora. That girl also liked to read strange novels—then clung to her like a little critter that couldn't be shaken off.
What is… this feeling…?
