Professor Renault prattled on in an even tone from the teacher's desk, nearly lulling Xing Mo to sleep.

Frankly speaking, Xing Mo had been a top student before. She had been ranked in the top in courses such as String Music and Fundamentals of Alchemy. In fact, she quickly completed her courses ahead of schedule.

But History and Mythology... she still couldn't forget the pain of studying for this course.

That was particularly true regarding Dragon of the Dark Moon Abragus. Reportedly an entire lineage derived from the Dragon God, and it had been divided into several current Dragonkind factions, some of which used pure Dragonscript in their family name. Committing them to memory was quite the pain.

While she was feeling drowsy, Xing Mo suddenly heard Aurora chuckle.

She turned and found Aurora listening to the professor's lecture with great interest.

"You're paying attention?" Xing Mo asked boredly.

"Of course I am. It's just like reading a novel." Aurora smiled, "After all, aren't these myths all fabricated?"

Fabricated? Xing Mo frowned and asked: "These stories were written in the Starsea Scripture."

"That means your Goddess lied to you." Aurora muttered, "For example, the moon in the sky is made of the body of a Dragon, that's fundamentally wrong. I've seen it. The moon isn't that lovely."

"It's wrong?" Xing Mo creased her eyebrows, "Then what do does the moon look like?"

"I'm afraid a five star Saint wouldn't understand. Maybe you can give it a try after you have become a Demigod~"

Aurora winked: "Ore, after you help me enter the White Tower, I can take you to have a look~"

"What the heck are you going to do in the White Tower..." Xing Mo murmured.

"I'm going to eat your Goddess's tribute." Aurora obviously didn't want to answer.

The professor was talking on end. Feeling sleepy, Xing Mo used her hands to support her head, and her eyes started closing.

I have to wait until Wednesday to exchange information with Instructor Lucius. Also, I wonder how Senior's investigation is progressing.

Xing Mo was lost in thought. Her consciousness gradually blurred.

In her half asleep half awake state, she seemed to see golden light fall from the sky.

......

The Southern District.

In a grocery store, next to the wooden counter, a man was writing a letter, the corners of his mouth twitching.

A yellow robe was draped over his broad shoulders. The yellow robe was embroidered with a gold and diamond pattern, which was a common symbol of the empire's Goldners.

At this time, the wind chimes at the store's door rustled, and the sound of light footsteps transmitted.

"Welcome," the man raised his head, "May I—"

His words suddenly got stuck in his throat—a girl with icy eyes and white hair walked into the store. Although she had a gentle look on her face, but the frostfire in her eyes made people want to kneel involuntarily.

It's her...! The man roared with all his might: "Run! It's a Bellkeeper!"

With that, he rolled over the wooden counter and sent a punch Vivian's way.

The girl just raised her hand and caught his fist with ease, as if it were a soft pillow.

"Alice, I'll leave the rear to you." Vivian smiled.

A fiery-red figure swept past Vivian and rushed to the back of the grocery store.

The man wanted to intercept the fiery-red figure, but then felt a pressure burst out in front of him.

He turned his head and met Vivian's eyes burning with frostfire, shocked.

"Goldner." Vivian murmured softly, and the frostfire in her eyes turned brighter: "Since you have seen Dragonfire, why don't you prostrate yourself?"

The pressure coming from ancient times battered the man's mind. He suddenly felt like he was not looking at a girl—through Vivian's eyes, he saw a black, winged Dragon roaring during the Evernight and the Age of the Gods.

Before his mind collapsed, the man bellowed: "Vivian Xia! You traitor of the Gold!"

He then collapsed to the ground and lost consciousness.

When he awoke from the haze, the man realized his hands were tied behind his back. There were three other people tied behind him.

An icy wind hit him in the face, and he suddenly became fully conscious.

"... dear Maya, next month you will cross the stormy Middle Sea and come see me. Prince Austin has arranged a residence for you. We will usher in a new life in the Citadel..."

The man raised his head and found a girl in an academy uniform sitting in a chair, reading the letter he had written earlier.

She was crossing her legs gracefully, her slender legs wrapped in white pantyhose rocking back and forth.

"You imperials like to migrate, don't you? You think that as long as enough of you migrate, you can be the pigeon that takes over the magpie's nest?" Vivian used a Yanxian idiom as a metaphor at the end.

"You have no grounds to search us." The man didn't dare to look at Vivian for fear of being burned by the frostfire in her eyes.

"Grounds? Then why did you tell them to run?" The girl murmured, "Alice, go ahead."

"Mhm." Alice, who had been checking the shelves, nodded and took out her wand.

She played strings in the air, and fiery lines of light rippled and collided together, forming tiny balls of light.

Thanks to the balls of light, an unexpected scene occurred—the goods on the shelves began to emit "sizzling" black gas, as if Vampires roaring under the sun.

"The power of the sun can destroy, but it can also bring new life." Alice said softly, "The curse you spread can't survive direct exposure to sunlight."

Vivian looked at the man with a smile. She was satisfied to see panic on his face.

"This isn't something I wanted to do." The man said hastily, "However, if I hadn't done it, I wouldn't be able to see Maya..."

"Who is the one behind you? Is it Prince Austin?" Vivian tilted her head, white hair flowing from her shoulders.

The man smiled self-deprecatingly: "Why would Prince Austin give us the time of day? He is adorned in gold, while our feet are covered with sand..."

"Okay, less nonsense. Just tell me who put you up to this." Vivian pointed to the goods emitting black gas, "Irrespective of what your purpose of spreading the curse is, it is definitely related to Steam Man. The number of people that went missing due to him has exceeded the one hundred mark."

"In other words, if you don't talk, you will be considered an accomplice, and you won't be able to see your dear Maya again."

The man's mouth twitched. He looked at his still unconscious companions behind him and swallowed, and then made up his mind: "The person who told me to do this..."

......

At the grocery store's entrance, the Steam Man Task Force's Task Force Captain and Police Chief Laura Williams looked at the cordoned off scene with serious eyes, her hands pressed against her waist.

If she wanted to, she could easily draw the police revolver from her holster and, together with the several policemen next to her, arrest the two people who were about to come out.

However, she restrained herself. When the two Bellkeepers—Vivian and Alice—came out of the grocery store, she just growled in a low voice: "I warned you to stay away from my case!"

Alice was stunned for a moment. Just when she was about to say something, Vivian took two steps forward: "The suspects were only responsible for execution. The main culprit is in the Garden Quarter, by the beach. Send someone to investigate that place as soon as possible."
