Chief Laura looked Vivian, who was dressed like a school girl, up and down with cold eyes and said: "Who are you to tell us what to do?"

"Settle down. We are all on the same side." Vivian said in a good-natured manner.

"Wipe that nonchalant look off your face!" Chief Laura's voice rose by a few degrees, and Vivian shrank back behind Alice: "Dragon girl! The people who died are our compatriots, not yours!"

As she spoke, the chief seemed to press forward. At this moment, sparks emerged in front of her.

She stopped and turned and found Alice looking at her, golden light shining in her eyes.

"Are you going to disobey the Church of the Starsea?" Alice asked calmly.

"The power of the police stems from the White Tower Council. In terms of rank, I am not much lower than you." Chief Laura didn't back down.

"Then how many months did you intend to take to find the curse's source? It only took Vivian and me one night to find the grocery store, which was operating in broad daylight." Alice pointed behind her.

Laura was silent for a while, then smiled sardonically: "You know, the guy in the Docklands you forced to detonate, I knew him."

"He was an imperial, true, and he was related to Steam Man, that's also true."

"Yet he was not only a criminal, but also a father of two. He traveled between the Southern and Northern Districts every day, worked two jobs, just to support his two children and pay their tuition in the magic academy."

"Did he go astray because of financial difficulties? It's possible. After all, becoming a Wizard is the only way to change your fortune in the Citadel. He got carried away for a moment and should indeed be put in jail."

Laura paused and then said while stressing each word: "But He Didn't Deserve To Die Like That In An Alley."

"I was in charge of that case. I knew him quite well already, and was practically only a few drinks away from making him spill out the truth. But then you appeared out of the blue and lunged at him, pushing him to the edge and ultimately a gruesome death."
