Special District 9 Chapter 162: Utter Mess

The lighting was incredibly dim inside the tearoom. Despite sitting in close proximity to one another, they were only able to see the outlines of each other’s faces and not their expressions.

After Wu Wensheng walked into the room, he traded a few pleasantries with the others in the room and shook their hands before settling down on the center seat in the room.

“Old Wu ah, just how did you bring up your son? He’s already an adult now, but he still can’t keep what’s in his pants under control?”

“Haha, it probably runs in their genes. Old Wu is quite open-minded, and his son is just like him!”

“…!”

The group of people sipped on their tea as they began teasing Wu Wensheng.

Wu Wensheng fondled his bald head awkwardly as he replied without the slightest hint of anger in his voice, “Yeah, I have to admit that the greatest shortcoming in my entire life is my lack of culture. I have no idea how to educate my children at all.”

The crowd fell silent upon hearing those words.

Wu Wensheng took a sip of tea before spitting on the floor. With a crude and direct tone, he said, “I won’t beat around the bush today. The ones who are dealing with my son came prepared. I tried to get him out by forcing my way through, but it didn’t work.”

“Of all things, your son just had to associate himself with the Yuan Family. It’s no wonder why there are people in Black Street Sector who are out to get him,” a middle-aged man seated by the left side said.

“Let’s put that aside for now and talk about the outcome instead.” Wu Wensheng raised his head and shouted,” Come, carry it in here!”

Two henchmen standing by the doorway opened the door and beckoned their companions outside.

Three lads swiftly made their way in with huge metal cases in their hands. They walked to the center of the room, placed the metal cases on the ground, and opened it up, revealing stacks of money notes that were bound together.

“Cough cough!”

After drawing everyone’s attention to him with his coughs, Wu Wensheng stood up and addressed the crowd, “I’m not a cultured person, and I’m not good with elegant, hypocritical talk. I’ll just get straight to the point. There is 300,000 dollars on the ground right now. Whoever helps me settle my son’s problem can take it away with him.”

“Boorish, Old Wu. You are too boorish! Even after donning a dragon robe, you still act no different from a street ruffian,” a muscular man in the room teased.

“Hahaha!” Wu Wensheng laughed at that remark. “All of us sitting in this room are all respectable figures in Songjiang, but has anyone here managed to attain the state of nirvana yet? Anyone?”

“Hahaha!”

Laughter broke out within the room.

The very same night.

While Qin Yu was rushing over to Fengbei, one of the most renowned criminal lawyers within Songjiang arrived in the visitation room of a prison.

Not too long after he settled down on a chair, Wu Yao, with metal chains shackled onto his legs, staggered over and sat down on a chair before the metal bars. He had heavy eyebags, and there were light bruises all over his body.

“Are you still fine?” the lawyer propped up his glasses as he asked.

“If you were even a day later, I might have already been done in!” Wu Yao exclaimed with a frown. “How long will it take for me to get out of here?”

“Did you said anything while you were inside?” the lawyer asked.

“I didn’t say a thing at all,” Wu Yao replied with a shake of his head. “Don’t take me for a fool.”

“That’s good.” The lawyer flipped the thin notebook that he always brought around with him open. “Listen to my words carefully.”

“Go ahead,” Wu Yao rubbed his bruise on his arm as he said.

“That night, you agreed on a price together with the accused, Weng Mei. You offered her 2000 dollars for a night of physical intimacy, and she agreed to it…” The lawyer began to instruct Wu Yao quietly, crafting a story for him to follow.

An hour later.

Zhu Wei arrived at the prison, and he stomped his way to the office and bellowed at the police officer responsible for keeping an eye on Wu Yao, “What the fuck are you doing? Didn’t I tell you that he’s a special exception due to his background, and that you are to stop anyone from meeting him until the prosecutors formally charged him?”

“Bro, what can I do?” the police officer exclaimed in frustration. “You should also know that the accused has the right to meet his lawyer while the case is still pending!”

Zhu Wei glared at the police officer furiously, his rage remaining unabated.

“Bro, I know that it’s tough on you, but our job isn’t easy either!” the police officer said. “He has only been here for less than 24 hours, but the calls have never stopped since then, not even for an instant at all! Y’know, my wife has already received three hampers back at home!”

Knowing that the police officer was also put under a great deal of pressure, Zhu Wei took a deep breath and calmed down a little before asking with a slightly less critical tone, “Do you have any video recording of his meeting with his lawyer?”

“None at all.”

“What? Why?!”

“There are a hundred reasons I can give you. Which one do you want to listen to?” the police officer replied helplessly.

“… Bloody hell,” Zhu Wei cursed. “So be it then! With the evidence in place, what can a single lawyer possibly do?!”

The following morning.

The Thai police officer in Qin Yu’s squad officially began his first round of questioning on Wu Yao.

“On the night that the murder happened, you were going to rape Weng Mei…”

“Who told you that I was going to rape her?” Wu Yao interjected before yawning loudly. “We’ve already decided on a price that night. I promised to give her 2000 dollars, and she willingly entered the compartment room with me…”

“Bullshit! There are people who witnessed you forcefully pulling her into the compartment room!”

“Did they see me taking off her clothes?” Wu Yao replied coldly.

The face of the Thai police officer darkened. He pointed his finger at Wu Yao menacingly and said, “You can’t argue your way out of this. We found your skin tissues in the fingernails of the deceased. After conducting a test, we found that they are a match with your DNA. That means to say that the two of you have gotten physical with one another.”

“You still don’t get the situation here,” Wu Yao said with a lackadaisical attitude. “What I told you is the truth. That night, just as I was about to screw her, her boyfriend suddenly barged in and caught us in the act. He immediately flew into a rage and began beating Weng Mei up… Well, I’m a kind person who can’t bear seeing guys beat women up, so I tried to stop them. It was then that I began tussling with the three of them. Listen well, I was only mediating in their fight. I didn’t harm any of them.”

“We found your fingerprints on the shattered wine bottle!” the Thai police officer bellowed at him furiously upon hearing those words.

“Heh!” Wu Yao chuckled to himself. He looked at the Thai police officer in the eye and asked, “What is a wine bottle for? It’s to store wine, get it? As a customer at Bambi, it goes without saying that I’d have wine there… Isn’t it perfectly normal for my fingerprints to be on a wine bottle?”

The Thai police officer was stunned.

“I saw with my own eyes how Weng Mei lost her rationality after benign beaten by her husband. In a moment of fluster, she grabbed the wine bottle and smashed it down on his head… Her husband then kicked her face in a moment of rage… Then, Weng Mei grabbed the wine bottle and stabbed it into her husband’s neck,” Wu Yao said with a smug smile. “Aiyo, you don’t know how scared I was then. I nearly peed my pants!”

“You think that we’ll let you off just because you come up with these excuses here…”

“Let’s see in the afternoon then,” Wu Yao interjected as he stretched his neck. “I’m tired now. Get lost.”

One in the afternoon.

The Police Headquarters personally made a call to instruct the Black Street Sector Police Bureau to conduct the procedures to bail Wu Yao out.

In response, the Black Street Sector Police Bureau used the excuse that the prosecutors had already gotten involved to refuse the request for the first time.

Another hour later, the prosecutors personally informed the Black Street Sector Police Bureau that Wu Yao was a member of Jiangnan Sector Council, as well as an outstanding young man. As such, he was allowed to be bailed out prior to the court hearing, though travel restrictions would still be imposed on him.

As soon as the verdict was announced, Zhu Wei immediately dialed Qin Yu’s number.

It was then that Uncle Tong, who had been keeping an eye on the case all a while, marched off to the Black Street Sector Police Bureau with a mix of fury and incomprehension on his face.

Four in the afternoon.

With a livid look on his face, Qin Yu brought the new interns that were assigned to them back to the Black Street Sector Police Bureau before marching toward Superintendent Li’s office furiously.
