Special District 9 Chapter 161: The Evidence Is In Place

Before Qin Yu even picked up the case, he was already well aware of just how great the impediment he would face when he finally put his hands on Wu Yao. It was for that reason that he chose to bring Wu Yao straight to the Forensics Team, hoping to get all the evidence in place as soon as possible.

“I must say, I didn’t expect Superintendent Li to be so tenacious,” Zhu Wei said. “To dare to touch even the son of a Chief Senator, he sure is dedicated to his job as a superintendent.”

“… Old Li is doing this to guard his own territory,” Qin Yu explained softly. “Think about it. Even a Yuan Family is already difficult enough to deal with. If Jiangnan’s Wu Family join forces with them, we’ll really in a vulnerable position in the future.”

Zhu Wei was silent for a moment before he shook his head with a bitter smile, “So the only ones who are really interested in redressing the grievances of that poor couple is just us, the bottom feeders?”

Time ticked into the afternoon.

Holding onto over thirty forensics report in his hand, a dirty and tired looking Qin Yu raised his hand and knocked on Superintendent Li’s office.

“Come in!”

A person inside shouted.

Qin Yu walked in upon hearing that voice, but surprisingly, he didn’t see Superintendent Li anywhere inside the room. “Vice Superintendent Dong, you’re here?”

“Come here, Qin Yu. Have a seat.” Vice Superintendent Dong, who was responsible for dealing with logistics and back-office affairs in the Police Bureau, gestured Qin Yu over with a wave of his hand.

“Aye.” Qin Yu nodded as he sat down on the chair opposite to Vice Superintendent Dong.

Vice Superintendent Dong looked at Qin Yu with a smile before asking softly, “Old Li has already told me about the case you have in your hands. How is it so far? Is there any progress?”

Qin Yu knew that Vice Superintendent Dong was one of the most trusted aides by Old Li’s side, so he passed the forensic reports over and said, “We have enough evidence to conclude the case now.”

“So fast? You managed to get the testimony out too?”

“Ah, not yet,” Qin Yu replied with a shake of his head. “Wu Yao is a cunning lad. No matter how we interrogated him, he refused to spit out a word at all. However, the evidence we have in our hand is already good enough to sentence him.”

“I see,” Vice Superintendent Dong flipped through the forensic reports as he nodded his head lightly.

Qin Yu continued to explain the details of the case, “The murder weapon used to kill the victims is a shattered half of a wine bottle. We managed to lift fingerprints on it, and we found it to have a very high degree of similarity with that of Wu Yao’s. Aside from that, prior to the deaths of the two victims, they have gotten into a physical fight with Wu Yao. The forensics team scraped their fingernails and found skin tissues in them. After conducting some tests, we found them to be a match with Wu Yao’s DNA. We also manage to get a few convincing supporting evidence, such as the two claw marks on Wu Yao’s body. There’s also a bite mark on Wu Yao’s wrist, and an analysis shows that it matches the female victim’s dental print.”

“What about eye-witnesses?” Vice Superintendent Dong asked.

“There are two eye-witnesses,” Qin Yu replied confidently. “The first eye-witness is Lele. He has already confessed everything. Wu Yao admitted to him that he was the one who killed the two victims, and he proceeded on to issue detailed instructions as to how the corpses should be disposed of that night. The second eye-witness is Shanshan. She can testify that Wu Yao had forcefully dragged Weng Mei into the compartment room with the intention of rape her, and she can also vouch that it was Lele who transported and disposed of the corpses.”

“Shanshan is willing to appear on court?”

“Yes, she has agreed to that,” Qin Yu replied with a nod.

“That works. These should be enough to sentence Wu Yao,” Vice Superintendent Dong said with a smile. “Send Wu Yao to the prison and put him under special attention. As for these reports, take them back with you first and hand them straight to the prosecutors later on.”

“Vice Superintendent Dong, I know that we might have settled this case fast, but we went through a lot of trouble to gather the evidence and rush the reports out. To be frank with you, I haven’t slept for several days already,” Qin Yu said with an exhausted look on his face. “I know that Wu Yao has some background, but after all that we have done, we can’t go easy on him just because we stumble on some obstacles along the way, right?”

“With the evidence we have collated thus far, he won’t be able to escape from the death penalty.”

“Ah, I’m assured to hear those words from you,” Qin Yu remarked as he stood up and stretched his back. “I’ll be heading back to sleep then.”

“Wait a moment first.”

“What’s wrong?”

“… Didn’t Old Li tell you that Fengbei is sending a new batch of police officers over?” Vice Superintendent Dong asked.

“Yeah, he did. But they haven’t arrived to date,” Qin Yu replied.

“It took some time to have them registered into the system, so they’re still at Fengbei now,” Vice Superintendent Dong said. “I need you to bring your men to the Police Headquarters later in the afternoon before heading over to Fengbei to bring them here.”

Qin Yu was stunned. “I have to fetch them?”

“What else do you think? Newbies are coming in, so it should go without saying that we need someone to bring them here! That way, Old Li will have the justification to assign you as their mentor,” Vice Superintendent Dong pointed out speechlessly. “It’s somewhat an empty title, to be honest, but it’ll still do you some good to have such a thing written in your files.”

Later in the afternoon, Qin Yu put on casual clothes and headed over to Songjiang’s Police Headquarters.

Wu Wensheng sat on his usual old sedan car and headed over to a secluded tearoom located at the heart of the city.

There were already eight middle-aged men inside by the time he entered the room, and they were chatting with one another merrily.

“You’re all here?” Wu Wensheng greeted them with a smile.

“Come come, Old Wu, have a seat. Let me introduce you to one another. This is our Songjiang’s Legislative Council’s…”A middle-aged man stood up and welcomed him over.

Lying on his bed, Dajun flipped his body around groggily as he shouted, “Baby, bring me a glass of water.”

“Coming, darling. Shall I feed you too?” Brother Xiao sat by the side of Dajun’s bed as he replied with a jolly voice.

Dajun’s eyes immediately shot open. He stared at Brother Xiao with utter shock on his face as he murmured, “Son of a bitch… How did you all get in here?!”
