Chapter 705: Killing People Openly
The doors of the two police vehicles shot open, and Qin Yu charged down with six other gun-wielding officers toward Dirt Street.
Half a minute later, at the entrance of a large mahjong room, Wu Yao, with a cigarette hanging on his mouth, was just about to get onto a car when Zhu Wei suddenly charged forward from behind and grabbed his hair.
“Don’t move.”
“Fuck!” Wu Yao cursed in pain. He turned around and bellowed, “What the hell are you doing?”
Hualala!
Qin Yu and the others charged forward as well. They pulled Wu Yao’s arms behind his back and held him firmly in place, leaving no space for him to struggle at all.
Forced to lower his back, Wu Yao glared at them and roared, “What the fuck do you think you’re doing?”
“Police. You have been suspected to be involved in a murder case,” Qin Yu said as he patted Wu Yao’s head. “We need you to cooperate with us.”
You’re looking for me? Are you sure you got the right man? Do you know who I am?” Wu Yao roared furiously.
“Didn’t you hear me telling you to cooperate with us?” Qin Yu raised his arm and swiftly struck the handle of his gun down on Wu Yao’s head several times before shouting to his men, “Retreat! Quick!”
In less than two minutes, Wu Yao was already dragged out of Dirt Street and stuffed into a police vehicle.
“Head to the Forensics Team right now!” Qin Yu urged.
“Which department are you from? Are you out of your minds?” Wu Yao roared angrily. “I’m a member of the Sector Council of Jiangnan Sector! On what grounds are you arresting me?”
Qin Yu paid no heed to Wu Yao at all. Instead, he fished out two phones from the latter’s pocket, took out their batteries, and threw them into a plastic evidence bag.
“What do you mean by this?
“Return me my phone, I’ll make a call!
“Fuck! Are you even listening to me?”
Wu Yao kept ranting furiously on the car, to the point that Zhu Wei lost his patience and shot two punches into Wu Yao’s face, threatening, “Talk a word more, and I’ll stuff your pants into your mouth!”
With his face bruised from the punches, Wu Yao glared at those in the car and fell silent.
…
In the subsidiary Forensics Department under the Police Headquarters.
Zhu Wei quickly found his friend and got straight to the point, “This is very urgent. I’ll need you to work overtime to give us the results as soon as possible.
“Where’s the guy?” the friend, dressed in a white scientist coat, asked.
“He’s in the corridor.”
“Bring him in,” the friend said.
Tens of seconds later, Wu Yao was forced into the room. Qin Yu immediately instructed, “Take off his clothes.”
Wu Yao was stunned. He flew into a fit of rage once more and howled, “What you’re doing here is illegal! You’re trespassing on my privacy as an individual…”
In less than two minutes, Wu Yao was stripped bare and handcuffed to the side of a metal bed. Clamping his legs tightly together, he fidgeted awkwardly as he glared at the crowd before him with a reddened face.
Zhu Wei shot a glance at Wu Yao’s crotch and remarked with a frown, “Even a small shrimp can cause such great trouble.”
“Fuck you!” Wu Yao spouted vulgarities out of sheer humiliation.
Zhu Wei’s friend put on a mask before telling Qin Yu, “You can just leave two guys here to keep an eye for him. I’ll first collect his fingerprint, hair, and saliva. It’ll take at least two days for the results to be out.”
Qin Yu pondered for a moment before saying, “The eight of us will split into two teams. Zhu Wei will take one team and I’ll take the other. Before the results are out, we can’t let this lad out of our line of sight.”
“Is there a need to take such a precaution?” the friend asked.
“This lad has quite some background. If we don’t keep an eye on him, something might just happen,” Qin Yu explained with a bitter smile.
Hearing those words, the friend turned to look at Wu Yao with eyes filled with revulsion as he asked, “So you’re the bastard who killed that couple?”
Wu Yao was stunned. He finally understood why he was getting arrested.
Pah!
The friend slapped aside Wu Yao’s hands, which were frantically trying to cover his crotch, and berated in disdain, “Move your hand aside and face me straight. What’s the point of hiding a mere shrimp?”
Wu Yao was so infuriated that his body trembled in rage. But after some thought, he eventually moved his hands behind his back.
“Wai, come here and help me too. Check his body for any months old wounds and snap some shots of them.” The friend began issuing some instructions to his team and got to work.
While Wu Yao was being inspected by the forensic team, Qin Yu stood firmly by his side, not allowing the other party to leave his sight at all. Even when he was eating, he would sit by the corridor vigilantly.
…
Several hours later.
Yuan Ke gave a call to Wu Yao based on the time they had agreed on, but the latter didn’t pick up. He waited for a while longer before giving another call, but there was still no one picking up. Sensing that something was amiss, he contacted the Wu Yao’s men.
Just like that, everyone began calling one another, only to realize that Wu Yao was nowhere to be found. They realized that something huge might have happened, so they began searching around frantically.
Soon, someone raised the news that Lele had been captured a day ago, and Yuan Ke also managed to tap into his connections in the Black Street Sector Police Bureau to figure out the reason behind Wu Yao’s disappearance.
Yuan Ke was an extreme opportunist. Upon realizing that something might have happened to Wu Yao, he immediately realized that this could be a golden opportunity for him to get closer to the Wu Family. So, instead of sending his men over to inform Wu Yao’s father, Wu Wensheng, of the matter, he instead chose head to the other party’s office personally instead.
The Senator Council was an organization with its own independent public building. It was just a small three-story tall building, but it was located in a prime location within Jiangnan Sector.
Yuan Ke registered himself at the front desk, mentioning that he was here to find Wu Wensheng for something urgent. The front receptionist picked up the landline and dialed a number.
Roughly ten minutes later, Yuan Ke walked up to an office on the third floor and knocked on the door.
Huaji!
The door opened, and a dark-skinned, bald middle-aged man wearing a tight blue shirt opened the door. He looked at Yuan Ke with a frown and asked, “You’re the second son of the Yuan Family?”
“Yes… I’m looking for… Senator Wu…”
“You don’t recognize me?” the middle-aged man asked.
Yuan Ke was stunned for an instant before his hand shot forth as he said, “Pleased to meet you, Senator Wu.”
“Come in.” Wu Wensheng nodded at the gesture before walking back into the room.
Yuan Ke walked into the office and closed the door behind him. He raised his head to assess Senator Wu, and he couldn’t help but feel deeply surprised by how different Senator Wu was from how he imagined him to be. Be it his dress-up, his expression, or his gesture, Senator Wu had a streetlike feeling to him, giving off the vibe of a small businessman who made a living from picking up the scraps of major businesses. There was nothing that felt politician-like about him.
“The front reception said that you are here to talk about my son’s affairs?” Wu Wensheng sat down on the sofa and asked. “How is he?”
Yuan Ke quickly snapped out of his daze and spoke politely, “Uncle, he has been captured.”
“Captured? By who?” Wu Wensheng was astonished.
“He was captured by the police officers from the Black Street Sector Police Bureau,” Yuan Ke got right to the point. “I had my men look into it, and it seems like it’s due to that incident Little Wu got into four months ago at Bambi.”
After the sliver of astonishment that Wu Wensheng shown upon hearing the news, there was no other particular emotion that surfaced. He didn’t even bother to ask Yuan Ke what Wu Yao did in Bambi.
“I used to work in the Black Street Sector Police Bureau, so I have a few friends in there. I asked around, and it seems that the person handling the case has come prepared. One of the men who always hang out with Little Wu, Lele, was caught a day before,” Yuan Ke explained the situation with a calm tone that was neither too proud nor subservient.
“I’m afraid that it might not be spontaneous action or a misunderstanding, but that they have already eyed Little Wu for a long time. I was afraid that things might go awry if we delay things, so I rushed here to inform you of the matter.”
Wu Wensheng frowned upon hearing those words, and he cursed, “That brat… that small dick of his sure knows how to cause big trouble.”
Yuan Ke was visibly shocked to hear such crude words coming from the mouth of a Chief Senator.
…
Eight at night.
Qin Yu and Zhu Wei’s phones began ringing nonstop, and the ones contacting them were all leaders and influential figures with a standing far above theirs.
