Special District 9 Chapter 158: A Quick Battle

In the midst of barren land, two frozen corpses white cloth lay on top of a white cloth beside a deep pit. Zhu Wei was snapping pictures of them with his camera.

By the side of the police vehicle, Qin Yu patted Shanshan’s back and asked, “Are you alright?”

“Uweh...Uweh…!” With tears in her eyes, Shanshan bent her back as she retched.

“Do you want to have some water?” Qin Yu asked.

“N-no need,” Shanshan said as she wiped away her tears. With reddened eyes, she cursed, “Those bunch of people are really too much!”

Qin Yu took out his audio recorder and asked formally, “Are you able to verify that the deceased are Tong Fusheng and Weng Mei?”

“Yes, I can verify that,” Shanshan replied.

“I’ll send the corpses over to a few trustworthy guys to conduct an autopsy on. We should be able to get the results latest by tomorrow night,” Qin Yu told Shanshan. “What you need to tell me now is the identity of the person who buried the corpse.”

“His name is Lele, and he’s a henchman working beside Wu Yao,” Shanshan replied without any hesitation. “I was able to recognize him because he often visits Bambi Entertainment City to play. He was the one who took the corpses away with a few other men.”

“Alright, I got it.”

“… The value of a human’s life depends on those wearing uniforms like you,” Shanshan said with a deeper meaning behind her words.

“I’ll try to the greatest extent of my ability to get it done,” Qin Yu replied.

The following day, three in the afternoon.

Qin Yu was making up for his sleep deficiency in the dormitory room when Zhu Wei suddenly barged in and said, “Wake up, the result is out.”

After being called twice, Qin Yu opened his eyes groggily and asked, “The result of the autopsy test is out?”

“Yeah,” Zhu Wei said. He tossed the report over to Qin Yu. “Take a look at it yourself.”

Qin Yu caught the stack of documents and took around ten minutes to browse through them on his bed before asking, “Have you managed to put some eyes on the lad named Lele yet?”

“Yeah, we’re already tracking his movements. He hasn’t noticed anything yet.”

“Call our men. I’ll be leading the team to get him later on,” Qin Yu said as he placed the report down. “Have we managed to check the shattered half of the wine bottle we dug out from the pit for fingerprints yet?”

“It has been a while since the incident occurred, but we’re lucky that the weather is cold. I passed the bottle over to a friend in the Forensics Team, and he said that he should be able to get it done.”

“That’s good,” Qin Yu said. He rubbed his cheeks to wake himself up. “Alright, you should go on and gather our men. I’ll have a quick bite before starting the preparations.”

“Alright!” Zhu Wei nodded.

Eight-forty at night, at the entrance of an average hotel in Jiangnan Sector.

A young man sporting a buzz cut and thin clothes stood on the entrance steps of the hotel as he spoke in a very loud voice on a phone, “Gahh, I’m drinking now! Brother Wu will be there too. Ok, I’ll be there right away! Wait for me, alright? Great! See ya then, bro!”

Barely after the call ended, Qin Yu walked over to the young man and asked, “Lele, right?”

“Yeah!” The young man turned around and asked with reddened cheeks, “Who are you”

Peng!

Qin Yu’s right foot suddenly shot up, sending Lele flying half a meter across the air before crashing heavily on the icy floor.

Crk!

Zhu Wei charged over from the side and pulled Lele’s right arm to his back while pressing his knee cap against Lele’s head, uttering harshly, “Police, don’t move!”

“What’s going on? Why am I…?!”

“Are you deaf? We told you not to move!” A Thai police officer stepped forward and gave two kicks to Lele. “Lower your head!”

Lele immediately realized that this bunch of people came with hostile intentions. He turned to the hotel and shouted, “Xiao’er, Xiao’er! The police are taking me away! Call Brother Wu to find out who’s behind this!”

“Find your mum! Shut your mouth!” Zhu Wei kicked Lele in his face twice, causing the latter’s nose to bleed. Lele curled his body up together from the pain.

“Drive the car over!” Qin Yu ordered through the walkie-talkie.

Screech!

The police vehicle drove over and stopped right before the entrance of the hotel within seconds.

Zhu Wei and the others pulled Lele up and stuffed him into the back seat before quickly driving off quickly. All of this was completed was finished in a snap, barely wasting any time at all.

Around ten seconds later, a brawny fellow rushed out of the hotel and hollered, “Where are they? Who captured my Brother Lele?”

“They’re already gone,” the receptionist at the doorway said.

“Which department are they from?” the brawny fellow turned to the receptionist and asked anxiously.

“Don’t know.” The receptionist shrugged.

Late at night, 11 o’clock.

Qin Yu finished his meal at the canteen before washing up at the washroom. Finally feeling a little more energized, he walked over to the interrogation room and knocked on the door.

Several seconds later, Zhu Wei opened the door, walked out, and shook his head. “That fellow is an obstinate one. He’s playing ignorant.”

“Is that so?” Qin Yu chuckled softly to himself. He walked into the interrogation room and shouted, “The rest of you can go and eat. I’ll talk to him myself.”

“Roger that!”

Those in the room picked up their cups and quickly left the interrogation room, leaving just Lele and Qin Yu in the room.

Lele sat on a metal chair as he tilted his head sideways and looked at Qin Yu in contempt.

On the other hand, Qin Yu casually closed the door to the interrogation room before walking over to the CCTV and pulling its cord off. Then, he turned to Lele and said, “Such a waste of electricity to keep it on all the time, don’t you think?”

Lele stared at Qin Yu deeply, trying to figure out his thoughts.

“You smoke?” Qin Yu took out his e-cigarette as he asked casually.

Lele subconsciously responded with a nod.

Qin Yu took a puff of smoke before calmly making his way over toward Lele’s metal chair. Then, all of a sudden, he slapped Lele’s head and howled, “Who fucking allowed you to say yes?”

Lele was utterly dumbfounded as to what was going on.

“You want to have a smoke?” Qin Yu asked menacingly as he shoved the e-cigarette before Lele.

“I… I don’t smoke…” Lele shook his head and replied.

Pah!

Qin Yu threw a heavy slap on Lele’s face, nearly knocking him silly. “Bloody hell! Who do you think you are to reject my goodwill? Are you fucking looking down on me?”

“What the hell do you want?!” Unable to tolerate Qin Yu’s whimsical actions, Lele let loose a hysterical shout.

“Tong Guisheng and Weng Mei, you were the one who buried them, right?” Qin Yu asked with narrowed eyes.

Lele froze in place. A hint of astonishment flashed across his eyes, and he even stuttered on the words, “W-who is… Tong Guisheng… and Weng Mei?”

“Hey. So do you smoke or not?” Qin Yu shoved the e-cigarette before Lele once more.

Lele instinctively cowered back a little as he looked at Qin Yu uncertainly, unsure what the latter was going to do next.

Pah!

Qin Yu struck Lele’s face once more with great force as he roared into the latter’s face, “Why aren’t you talking?”

The abrupt strike really grated down on Lele’s nerves, causing his final string of tolerance to snap. He craned his neck and bellowed in fury, “You want to play games, huh? You better fucking sentence me to death, or else you can be bloody sure I’ll show you hell once I get out of here!”

“You want to give it a try?” Qin Yu asked with a bone-chilling voice.

Lele instinctively shuddered in response to Qin Yu’s menacing look, and he immediately cowered back once more.

“Heh!” Qin Yu suddenly smiled. With concise words, he said, “You think that I would touch you without evidence? The corpse is buried in 35 kilometers north of Jiangnan Sector Street 306, in the midst of barren land, right? When you drove into the wilderness, you were afraid that your tire might slip, so you even brought out two bricks to hold it in place. Anything you want to refute?”

Lele’s face turned ghastly pale. He stared at Qin Yu as panic rippled across his eyes.

In a gathering within the city, a drunk Wu Yao stood in the midst of a corridor, shouting above the cacophony around him into the phone in his hand, “What did you say?”

“Brother Wu, Lele has been captured!”

“Why was he captured?” Wu Yao asked groggily.

“I don’t know either,” the man on the other side of the phone replied. “Lele didn’t stir any shit recently, so I have no idea why those from the Police Bureau would capture him either.”

“Fuck, you don’t know how to look into it?”

“Brother Wu, do you think that it could be because of that incident at Bambi Entertainment City?” the man on the other end of the phone asked contemplatively. “That’s the only matter Lele dealt with recently.”

Wu Yao was taken aback for a moment before vehemently refuting it, “That’s impossible. I already settled that. The superintendent of Jiangnan Sector Police Bureau is a close brother of my dad. I asked him about it previously, and he told me that they’re dragging the case out. That dumb waiter and his wife are still tagged as missing individuals to date.”

“I think we should still be careful, or else it might…”

“What are you so worried about? The case happened in Jiangnan, Jiangnan!” Wu Yao emphasized with a slight burp. “Lele must have gotten into some other trouble… Go look into it, and I’ll settle it when I wake up tomorrow morning. Yeah, that’s all.”
