Special District 9 Chapter 157: A Childhood Friend

Qin Yu looked at the nervous Shanshan and answered her question solemnly, “Regardless of whether you’re just providing us with information or testifying for the case, I’ll definitely guarantee your safety. If you are still worried, you can move in with me during this period of time.”

Shanshan hesitated for another moment before asking, “Are you confident in overthrowing him?”

“As long as there’s sufficient evidence, I’ll push for it with the greatest extent of my ability,” Qin Yu replied frankly. “To be honest, I’m also not sure how far we can go with this case, but I’d still like to give it a try.”

Shanshan gulped down her cup of water anxiously before raising her head and saying, “I’ll help you all.”

“… As long as you give us crucial information that allows us to arrest Wu Yao, I’ll be able to apply with the Police Bureau for a 5000 dollars reward for your tipoff.”

“I don’t need that money,” Shanshan shook her head and said. “I’m only helping you because Guisheng is my childhood friend. It’s one thing if I didn’t know about it, but to keep silent despite knowing the truth… I just can’t help but feel uneasy inside. Uncle Tong has approached me and asked me about it too, but I knew that it was impossible for him to handle the case… But if officials like you are willing to investigate this matter, I’m willing to take on this risk.”

Zhu Wei was someone who had a very candid personality. Hearing those words from Shanshan, he raised his cup and said, “Bro, I like how you do things. Let me propose a toast to you.”

The three of them raised their cups and took a sip together. Shanshan wiped her lips and told Qin Yu, “I was downstairs when that incident occurred. Actually, when they threw Guisheng and his wife down, there were quite a few people who saw it.”

“Were they already… dead by now?” Qin Yu asked.

Shanshan was silent for a moment before she nodded with reddened eyes, saying, “Yeah, they were probably already dead when they were thrown out… A waiter by the corridor told me that Wu Yao stabbed Guisheng with the shards of a wine bottle. That triggered Weng Mei, who then tussled furiously with him. In a moment of rashness, Wu Yao stabbed her too…”

“Did the waiter in the corridor enter the compartment room?

“He didn’t. They all dared not to enter, so all of them just listened from the outside,” Shanshan explained softly. “However, that bunch of dogs that Wu Yao leads charged in as soon as they heard the commotion.”

Qin Yu frowned upon hearing those words. “That would make things quite troublesome. If no one was around when Wu Yao killed the two of them, it would be hard to pin the murder directly on him.”

Shanshan looked at Qin Yu hesitantly for a good four seconds before she said quietly, “I know the person who buried them, as well as the location where they were buried.”

Qin Yu’s pupils dilated in astonishment. “You followed them when they left?”

“Un.” Shanshan nodded. “I’ve never told this to anyone before!”

Zhu Wei clapped his hands in excitement upon hearing those words. “Steady! If we can get the corpses, there’s a good chance we can push forward with the case!”

“Can you bring us there tonight?” Qin Yu asked Shanshan.

“Yeah, I can.”

“Good!” Qin Yu turned to Zhu Wei and instructed, “Inform our men to dispatch a police vehicle out and bring out equipment to investigate the crime scene. We’ll be heading to the place where the corpses are buried tonight.”

“I’ll get it done!” Zhu Wei said with a nod.

In a company of Jiangnan Sector.

Wu Yao placed his legs on his office table and yawned lazily as he said, “Dajun ah, after you clear the stocks on hand, we’ll be washing our hands off this.”

“Are we really going into the medicine trade?” Dajun asked.

“Yeah. I’ve already talked to Yuan Ke about it,” Wu Yao said with a nod. “They’ll be giving us the stocks first, and we’ll only have to settle the bills after selling the goods. Furthermore, they won’t be looking for any partners in Jiangnan Sector anymore, and they won’t be sending any of their current subsidiaries over here to compete with us for business. Given the generous terms they have offered, I think it’s worth partnering with them.”

“So we’ll get a monopoly within Jiangnan Sector?”

“Yes, that’s basically it,” Wu Yao sniffed as he replied. “So, I’m thinking of focusing on this for the time being.”

“Alright, I got it,” Dajun nodded.

“Holy shit, it’s going to be two soon?” Wu Yao glanced at his watch and immediately shot to his feet. “I’m going to find a place to sleep now. You’re dismissed.”

Hearing those words, the crowd quickly scattered.

A few minutes later, at the bottom of the office building, Dajun pulled out a motorcycle from the alley, and just as he was about to get on top of it, his phone suddenly rang.

“Hello, Miao?”

“Dajun, why didn’t you pick up my phone?”

“Didn’t I tell you that I’ll be staying at my father-in-law’s place over the next few days, so it won’t be convenient for me to talk about outside affairs?” Dajun said with a frown. “What’s wrong? Why do you seem so flustered?”

“That bunch of fixers from the Development District has started making their move. They came over to my workplace to demand payment!” Miao exclaimed anxiously. “They said that if you don’t pay up within three days, they’ll make you swallow an entire mahjong set.”

“Heh, those bunch of dunces!” Dajun thought nothing about the matter at all. “Just nice, I haven’t tried eating mahjong tiles before.”

“Dajun, I think we might have judged them wrongly. Those people… they aren’t pushovers,” Miao said worriedly. “I think you should just pay them, it’s not a lot of money anyway… Let’s not get involved with them.”

“You’re shitting me? I already paid you the recommendation fee, and now you’re telling me to pay them? What the fuck is going through your mind?”

“You can take the money back,” Miao hesitated for a moment before saying.

“If you want to pay them, do it by yourself. I don’t intend to get involved,” Dajun replied impatiently. “I’ve already spent the money I earned from that pile of goods, and our company isn’t going to dabble in weapons anymore. I won’t be able to get that much money anytime soon, so I can’t pay him even if I want to.”

“Dajun, I really think that bunch of people shouldn’t be messed…!”

“Cut the crap,” Dajun interjected sharply. “They’re just a bunch of outsiders, why are you so afraid of them? Those fools didn’t even give a heads up when they butted in here and tried to mess the market up by releasing their goods cheaply. Even if we didn’t teach them a lesson, others will do it. You get it now?”

“Alright then… I’ve already said my piece. If you aren’t going to listen to me, there’s nothing I can do either,” Miao said. “However, I’ll just make things clear first. If they look for me again, I’ll be giving the money they gave me back and wash my hands clean out of this matter. I’ll get them to look for you for everything else.”

“Get them to find me then, I’d like to see if those halfwit nincompoops can do anything about me!” Dajun sneered before hanging up the phone.

Three at dawn.

Wearing the military coat that police officers were assigned with, Qin Yu held a torch in his hand as he asked Shanshan, “Are you sure that this is the place?”

“I’m certain it’s here,” Shanshan replied with a nod. “I saw him driving his car here, but there were too few cars on the main road, so I didn’t dare to follow him too close… I only remember them turning off their headlights at this fork.”

Qin Yu pondered for a moment before raising his hand and instructing the others, “Guys, don’t bother heading in. Just check the roadside… It doesn’t seem like people usually come here. Try to look out for tire tracks.”

A whole two hours later.

Standing in the midst of the barren land, Zhu Wei pointed to a pile of messy tire tracks by his side and shouted, “This is the endpoint. I think we can try digging here!”

Another half an hour passed, Qin Yu stood inside a shallow pit and dug out another shovel, and the tip of a human head appeared in his view.
