Special District 9 Chapter 132: Making a Living Out of Our Mouths

From the moment that Xing Zihao was shot dead, Qin Yu had a premonition that Old Ma wouldn’t be returning with them anymore, and from the current state of affairs, it seemed like his intuition had been spot-on.

However, Ma Lao-er was unable to accept this at all. He stood in the middle of the road as he bellowed, “Why did all of you come back but my uncle ended up getting caught? Why?!”

His roar reverberated in the air for a very long time, but there was not a single person who could reply to him.

Ma Lao-er tossed aside his crutches as he fell to the floor on his bottom. Covering his face that was overflowing with tears, he cried out, “I was wrong. I know that I was wrong, but can’t you give me a chance to make it up to you…”

Old Cat was silent for a moment before he walked up to hug Ma Lao-er. “We wanted to bring Uncle Ma back, but he didn’t want to run anymore.”

“He… He got himself caught in my stead…” Ma Lao-er muttered with a voice filled with guilt.

Old Cat could only hug Ma Lao-er and comfort him by patting his back.

Two hours later, on the second floor of a building.

Coco glanced upward at the ceiling as she twirled her hair before knocking lightly on Qin Yu’s door.

“Who is it?” Little Qi shouted through the door.

“It’s me, Coco.”

“Come in,” Qin Yu replied as he pulled up a blanket to cover his body.

The door opened, and Coco entered the room alone. After scanning the room, she said with a serious face, “Get your friend to head out for a while. Let’s have a talk.”

“There’s no need to do it behind his back,” Qin Yu said from the bed. “He’s my brother, and he doesn’t dabble in medicine either.”

Coco shot an assessing gaze at Little Qi before she finally sat down on a chair beside Qin Yu’s bed.

Qin Yu looked at Coco, who was dressed in a leather jacket and jeans, and he remarked with a chuckle, “Wow, your getup today sure is simple.”

“Don’t bother beating around the bush with me,” Coco said with a light frown. She got straight to the point, “A partnership is about mutual benefits, but so far, not only have you yet to earn us substantial profits, you even ended up stirring a great deal of trouble for us.”

Qin Yu coughed a few times before he replied, “What we did in Fengbei won’t implicate you. Over there…”

“You don’t need to explain,” Coco interjected sharply. Her eyebrows shot up slightly as she continued, “Fatty Xing’s mum isn’t even dead yet but his son is already gone. Do you think that he’ll let things rest easily? If I were to hide you lot, that’ll make me an accomplice too.”

“Like I said, there’s someone who will settle the matters over at Fengbei.”

“Are you talking about Old Ma?” Coco shook her head. “I don’t think he’s enough to satisfy Fatty Xing.”

“Old Li will make a move there,” Qin Yu answered. “Oher than that, Yong Dong will also wash the Ma Family’s reputation clean from the impact of the fake medicine incident, and that will in turn put the Yuan Family in a bad position.”

Coco fell into deep thoughts as she reassessed the situation.

Qin Yu stared at Coco’s well-defined face for a moment before he continued speaking, “Let me use an analogy to describe the situation. Let’s say that you’re an investor in a business. In the first round of investment, you put 2,000,000 into us, and we spent it all. In the second round of investment, you put another 3,000,000 into us, and this time around, we spent it all on building the market. Now, we’re arriving in the third round of investment, and we urgently need another 2,000,000 to get a stable foothold in the industry. Here comes the question. Will you be willing to invest this sum of money?”

Coco was a little baffled by the scenario Qin Yu had created.

“Heh!” On the other hand, Little Qi couldn’t resist but burst into laughter by the side.

“Scram!” The annoyed Qin Yu chased berated Little Qi, “We’re talking business over here, what are you laughing about?”

‘You talk yours.” Little Qi raised his phone and pointed at it. “I was looking at my phone earlier.”

Qin Yu harrumphed in irritation before turning his gaze back to Coco, saying, “You see, you have already invested 5,000,000 in this business so far in the earlier phases, but now that the company has reached a vital phase, you’re suddenly choosing to pull out at this moment. If the business closes down, all of your previous investment will go down the drain. However, if you continue pushing on, not only will you be able to recoup your earlier investment of 5,000,000, it’ll also build the foundations required for a steady stream of profit to come in for years to come.”

Coco glared at Qin Yu as she said, “I really want to pry open your mouth and see if there’s a siren inside your mouth.”

“What I’m saying is the truth. You also know that we have already secured the distribution channels, and the connections required for the business to operate are already in place too. I know you’re worried about the risks, but even if you abandon this ship right now, it’s only a matter of time before the pharmaceutical companies find you. We’re already this close to success. Don’t you think that it’s a huge waste to back out at this point in time?” Qin Yu said.

“I’m not just speaking empty words here. Once Yong Dong makes his move, I can guarantee you that the Yuan Family will be in a worse plight than we were.”

“I really don’t know what I should say,” Coco stared at Qin Yu in wonderment. “You’re cornered to the point where you don’t even have a place to go to, and you still are able to paint me a bright future over here. Why are you so amazing, huh?!”

“It’s not as if I don’t have a place to go to,” Qin Yu replied as he pointed his finger toward Little Qi. “My brother makes a living in the Wasteland District. Worse comes to worst, I can just go with him and suffer a little. It’s not as if I’m totally cornered yet.”

Coco stood up and paced lightly around the room for a while before she finally turned to look at Qin Yu and gave her response, “Until I see the profit, everything you say is just a load of crap. I’ll give you a week. If things don’t head in the direction you spoke of, this will be the end of our partnership. You and your friends will all have to leave this place.”

“Wow, what a sharp mouth. Aren’t you worried that if we manage to catch a breather, it might get awkward if we meet again in the future?” Qin Yu asked with a smile.

“What’s there to be awkward about?” Coco said nonchalantly. “Excessive politeness is just shallow hypocrisy. In our positions, we have to prioritize the interest of the company first.

“Sounds fair. I’ll show you some results within a week’s time,” Qin Yu replied with a nod.

“I’ll wish you a quick recovery.”

“You came empty-handed?” Qin Yu asked teasingly.

Coco was stunned for a moment by that question. She rolled her eyes and replied, “Please! After how I ran all around to fetch two groups of your people within three days, you still want me to bring a present for you? You should thank god that I haven’t thrown you out yet!”

“Heh, I’ve troubled you during this period of time.”

“I’ll leave my men outside. Talk to them if you need anything,” Coco said before she left through the door.

Sitting on the sofa, Little Qi looked at Coco’s departing back before evaluating with a shake of his head, “Tsk tsk, what a feisty lass.”

“It sure is tough to manage relationships,” Qin Yu remarked with a deep sigh.

“Everything will be settled once you get her on your bed.”

“You wish!” Qin Yu scoffed. “Old Cat tried that, but he ended up getting tossed out of the room without any clothes on him. He ended up running buck naked to the room of the hostel’s boss and stayed with him for the night.”

Little Qi put down his phone and said, “Looks like you haven’t been idling around in Songjiang. You managed to find a gig.”

“I got into this by coincidence too.”

“I don’t really care about what you want to do, but I can handle things for you,” Little Qi said as his face suddenly turned grim. “Should I make a trip to Songjiang and Fengbei and pave the way for you?”

“Ah?” Qin Yu was taken aback by that question.

“Suddenly acting blur at a moment like this?” Little Qi remarked as he leaned closer to Qin Yu. With a ferocious look in his eyes, he said, “Your friend said that there’s still another guy in the Yuan Family. If I camp three days in Songjiang, I reckon that I should be able to get him. After that, I’ll give a warning to that Fatty Xing or something. He still has two more sons, right? I’ll send one more away so that he’ll have his hands full burning incense paper for them.”
