Special District 9 Chapter 123: Foiled By the Plump Soldier

Daylight usually came late to the frozen lands near Special District 9. Old Cat, Yong Dong, Guan Qi and the others had overexerted themselves the previous night, so they swiftly fell deeply asleep after having their fill of food.

Inside the peaceful room, snores could be heard here and there. Qin Yu leaned against a wall as he smoked on an e-cigarette, trying his darnest best to ward away his drowsiness.

Time ticked by. Qin Yu glanced at his watch from time to time, and while he felt anxious on the inside, he didn’t call the other party to hurry them.

Outside the pitch-black room, the two employees of the hostel had begun to clean away the snow that had piled up at the entrance of the shop. At the same time, they also quickly started a fire so that the kitchen could get to work once everything was in order.

Around twenty minutes later, Qin Yu felt something churning in his stomach. So, he grabbed two pieces of toilet paper from the room and headed out. After turning at a bend, he entered an outdoor toilet and began doing his business.

“Is there anyone there?”

Someone shouted from the outside all of a sudden.

“What’s wrong, bro? Are you here to eat or to stay for the night?” an employee asked.

“We’re staying for the night. Is the boss in? We’d like to talk about the price!”

“The boss is inside. This way please.”

Qin Yu listened to their conversation from the toilet, and he instinctively wanted to observe the situation. So, he pushed a small crack in the toilet and looked outward.

The sky was still dark, so Qin Yu wasn’t able to clearly see the people who had just arrived. Nevertheless, from his angle, he could still see some light coming from vehicles.

He could hear the sound of the engine whirring, and it sounded like there was more than one of them.

Perplexed, Qin Yu cleaned himself up, pulled up his pants, and walked out.

The toilet was only one wall away from the main entrance, so Qin Yu was able to see the situation on the road just by tiptoeing.

There were four vehicles, and none of them had turned off their engine. They were stopped by the right side of the road. In the first car, there was even a person who was making a call.

Seeing this sight, Qin Yu’s heart began beating furiously. He rushed back to his room as fast as he could, closed the door, and shouted, “Wake up, quick! Don’t sleep anymore!”

Old Ma was sitting on the chair with his arms on his shoulders, resting with his eyes closed. So, he was also the first one to reply, “What’s wrong?”

“Four cars have arrived outside, and they have stopped by the roadside,” Qin Yu answered. “I feel that something is amiss.”

There was a series of rustling sounds as people started rising up from all around. The fuzzy-headed Guan Qi murmured in a daze, “What’s wrong about the cars? Isn’t it normal for people to stay in hostels?”

“Nothing is normal about it!” Qin Yu exclaimed. “A person who drives a car wouldn’t stay in a place like this, and someone had just entered the building to look for the boss!”

“Let’s go!” Yong Dong immediately leaped to his feet. “Regardless of who it is, we should get away first!”

Huala!

Yong Dong’s two friends were also very sensitive to danger too. They immediately lowered their head to prepare their guns.

Footsteps sounded within the building, and it seemed to be getting closer and closer to them.

Qin Yu immediately reacted on the spot. He rushed to the end of the room and kicked open the only wooden window. A cold draft immediately gushed into the room.

“Jump out!” Old Ma shouted.

Yong Dong was the first one to run over and leap out of the room.

Peng peng!

It was also at this moment that someone kicked on their door.

Yong Dong’s friends, Qin Yu, Old Ma, and the others immediately raised their guns and aimed it at the doorway.

Bang bang bang!

A series of gunshots echoed as the wooden splinters flew from the door. The footsteps outside grew even more chaotic, and someone shouted, “Enter! Someone is inside the room!”

“Is there a window inside?”

“Y-yes, bro. There is!”

“Go by the back. There are windows in the room!”

“…!”

Noises sounded all around. Following that, someone broke one of the glass windows in the room, and several guns were stuck into the room.

Bang!

Qin Yu swiftly raised his hand and shot the light bulb above them, causing the room to plunge into darkness. After that, he pushed the cupboard and used to block the entrance as he shouted, “Hurry up and leave!”

On the road.

Yet another five cars stopped by the hostel, and Yuan Hua anxiously got down from one of them. He held his gun up high and shouted, “Everyone, listen well! If we don’t get this done properly, all of us, including me, won’t be returning to Songjiang anymore!”

“Charge in!”

As soon as Baldie got down the car, he immediately headed rushed toward the road by the left of the hostel.

“Shit!”

Yuan Hua released the safety engagement notch as he shouted to his men, “Someone, camp over there!”

Meanwhile, after Yong Dong ran out of the room, he immediately hid behind a wall and peeked out to scan the road while covering fire for those behind him. Seeing that there were people on the road too, he immediately warned with a shout, “They are here too! Hurry up and leave!”

The people who were still in the room leaped out of the window one after another like mouses chased by a cat.

“Run, Yong Dong, hurry up and run!” Yong Dong’s friend shouted as soon as he got out.

However, Yong Dong turned around and ran back in as he shouted, “Cover me for a while!”

On the road, Guan Qi, who had managed to run to the forefront, immediately halted his footsteps upon hearing those words. He looked at Yong Dong, who was desperately buying time for the rest of the people, and he immediately turned around and aimed his gun at the opposite window from where Yong Dong was facing.

Three seconds later.

Yuan Hua and Baldie, leading around a dozen men, arrived in the hostel too. They held their guns out and fired without any hesitation.

Outside the window of the room, Old Ma was in the midst of turning around to shoot at the enemies, who had managed to barge into the room by now, when he slipped on the frozen ground and fell to the floor.

Qin Yu immediately rushed forward to pull Old Ma up before retreating together with him.

“Fuck! Yong Dong, I’ll make sure to blow your head off first!” Baldie shouted as he rushed into the room.

Bang bang!

Qin Yu immediately fired at Baldie, but slight sparks only appeared on the latter’s chest.

Taken aback, he immediately turned sideways to dodge Baldie’s counterattack.

Bang!

The bullet struck Qin Yu’s back, causing him to stagger two steps forward.

The brothers of the Ma Family immediately turned around and pulled their trigger furiously to cover for Qin Yu and Old Ma.

Making use of this opportunity, Qin Yu and Old Ma quickly got away as far as they could.

“Go, go! Scatter!” Qin Yu bellowed with reddened eyes.

Guan Qi saw Qin Yu and the others had gotten out of the hostel, so as soon as they turned left at a bend and disappeared, he began to retreat as well. But barely after he took two steps, he suddenly heard some movements inside the hostel.

As a policeman, his reflexes were formidable. He immediately aimed his barrel toward the window and began firing.

In the next moment, Yuan Hua and the others appeared, and they began firing frenziedly at Guan Qi.

Bang bang!

After two gun shots. Guan Qi was struck by one of the bullets before falling over.

“Don’t move!”

“If you move an inch, I’ll kill you!”

“…!”

A group of people immediately surrounded him and screamed at him.

Guan Qi stared at the enemies who had already surrounded him before decisively tossing away the gun in his hand.

Peng!

Baldie rushed over and smashed the barrel of his gun on Guan QI’s head as he shouted, “Drag him out!”

Inside the alley.

Qin Yu coughed violently as blood spurted out of his mouth and nose.

“Where were you shot?” Old Ma asked.

Qin Yu wheezed for air as he replied, “I don’t know. I can’t feel anything in my back…!”

Old Ma pondered for a moment before replying, “We won’t be able to get out anymore. Let’s just go all out against them!”

“No, don’t… We still have a chance. We have to run…!!” Qin Yu exclaimed with a shake of his head. “Guan Qi, make a call for me!”

Hearing no response, Old Cat quickly looked around them before freezing in place, “Shit, where’s Guan Qi?!”
