Special District 9 Chapter 122: A Huge Mistake

The four trucks drove for around two hours before finally stopping by the roadside.

The soldier opened the back of the truck with his key and shouted in, “We’ve arrived.”

Old Cat leaped out of the truck and scanned his surroundings. Not too far away, there was a resting stop for vehicles to replenish their goods.

“I can only send you up to here,” the soldier said as he closed the door.He turned to Qin Yu and said, “We only have an hour or so to deliver the goods to the location, and that place is quite remote. It’ll just inconvenience you if I bring you there.”

“Where is this place?” Qin Yu asked.

“It’s Wengnan Replenishment Stop,” the soldier said as he pointed to the left side. “Do you see that building there? If you walk in that direction, you’ll find hostels, vehicle rental stores, meat stores… It has everything that you need.”

“Is this place safe?”

“What could possibly happen here?” the soldier replied. “I’ll put it this way for you. At least six in ten people here in Wengnan are fugitives wanted by the Police Headquarters. It’s a lawless place, and there are veteran fixers everywhere. As long as you don’t go overboard here, no one will spare you a second glance.”

“Got it,” Qin Yu nodded.

“Okay! I need to go now, bro. Wish you all the best.”

“Thanks.”

After chatting for a little, the soldier returned back to the truck to sleep, and the group soon left the area.

By the roadside, Yong Dong looked at Qin Yu and asked with a frown, “What’s your plan? Will we be stopping here?”

“We can’t afford to stay here for too long,” Qin Yu shook his head. “We’ll wait for our receiver and head off right away.”

“That’s also what I’m thinking too,” Yong Dong nodded in agreement. “We might be out of Fengbei now, but it wouldn’t do to get careless just yet.”

“Un, let’s go then,” Old Ma said.

“Wait a moment!” Qin Yu suddenly shouted out. He walked over to Yong Dong and said, “Out of safety precaution, give your gun to me.”

Yong Dong’s body stiffened up. He was stunned for a long while before he burst out, “What do you mean by this? Look at the state I’m in! Do you think that I can still get back to Yuan Hua to scheme against you?”

“I’m afraid that you’ll run away,” Qin Yu got straight to the point.

“Yeah, you have to hand over your gun.” Old Cat, Guan Qi, and the brothers of the Ma Family also surrounded Yong Dong as well.

Yong Dong glared at Qin Yu before nodding with a hardened expression. “Fine. You can have your way.”

The three people from Yong Dong’s side handed over the pistol, and the group quickly made their way toward Wengnan Replenishment Stop.

A short moment later, Qin Yu knocked on the doors of a hostel and asked politely, “Do you still have rooms? We would like to rest for a while.”

“Yes, we still have vacancies,” the sleepy boss yawned before replying with a nod. “30 dollars per pax. I’ll prepare some food for you later on.”

“Alright,” Qin Yu nodded. “All of you, come in.”

In the next moment, Old Ma and his brothers, Guan Qi, Old Cat, and Yong Dong’s group all entered the hostel.

Seeing that there were so many people, the boss was stunned for a moment before he changed his words, “You need to top up more. 80 dollars per pax.”

“Why don’t you go rob a bank?!” Old Cat lost his patience and bellowed. “Didn’t you say that it’s 30 per pax?”

“Given the size of your group and the current timing, I think my price is pretty reasonable,” the boss replied with a smile. “You can try the others if you want to. They’ll charge you at least 100.”

“So be it then.” Qin Yu held Old Cat back. “Get us some food quick.”

“Will do. You can take that room over there on the left,” the boss said as he stepped aside and gestured to one of the rooms.

Roughly an hour later, the group finally had some warm food to fill their empty stomach with.

Old Ma called Qin Yu to one side and asked softly, “Will the receiver be here before daylight?”

“Yes, that shouldn’t be a problem,” Qin Yu replied. “They are already on the way, and they’ll be able to arrive before daylight.”

“That’s good,” Old Ma replied as he inhaled the smoke from his dirty e-cigarette. Then, he asked hoarsely, “We’re heading to Jiangzhou?”

“That’s right,” Qin Yu replied with a deep sigh. “Before we came over, none of us thought that the matter would blow so big. It’s only a matter of time before they learn that Xing Zihao is already dead. We’ll definitely have to lie low until everything blows over, so it’ll be better for us to stay at Jiangzhou for a period of time.”

Old Ma was silent for a moment before he said, “Qin Yu, I won’t be heading there with you.”

Qin Yu was surprised to hear those words.

“I’ll head back to Songjiang,” Old Ma said calmly. “When you reach Jiangzhou, you should quickly get Yong Dong to think of a way to resolve the fake medicine incident. Only then will my heart be at ease.”

A frown formed on Qin Yu’s forehead as he tried to convince him otherwise, “Uncle Ma, it’s heaven’s will that we were able to get out of this alive. You should follow us to Jiangzhou…”

“Qin Yu, you know very well that the outcome is still the same whether they got us at Fengbei or not,” Old Ma interjected with a resigned tone. “Little Liu and Maozi had no blood ties with me, but the first thing that came to my mind when they were killed was to avenge them. So, if Fatty Xing learns that his son is already dead, what do you think he’ll do?”

Qin Yu fell silent.

“If no one steps forward, the pressure will fall entirely down on Old Li. If he’s unable to stand his ground, all of us will be goners. Isn’t that right?” Old Ma said with a deep sigh. “In the end, it’s not a problem that we can simply run from.”

“Uncle Ma, we have already gotten out of Fengbei. If you insist on returning to Songjiang, how am I to explain to Ma Lao-er about this matter?” Qin Yu tried to argue. “Why don’t we do this instead? You follow us to Jiangzhou and talk to Ma Lao-er about this first. What do you think?”

Old Ma simply smiled quietly, not saying a thing at all.

In a certain Garrison Troop Division’s barracks in the Development District.

Four cars were driving into the barracks in one straight line. As soon as the soldier who just sent Qin Yu and the others off got down the car, he stretched his back lazily and walked into the office.

Inside the office, two guards immediately stood up and asked the soldier, “Have the goods arrived yet?”

“Yes, they have arrived. They are inside the second truck. You can move them yourself,” the soldier said as he passed a box of cigarettes to them. “Brothers, you have worked hard. Come, have one.”

Neither of the two of them moved.

“Hm? I have never seen the two of you before. Are you new here?” the soldier asked.

The guard on the left took up his walkie-talkie and shouted over, “Report! The supply truck has arrived!”

Weng!

In the next moment, police sirens sounded all over the barracks, and forty soldiers dashed out of the main building and surrounded the trucks.

The soldier who had just arrived was utterly dumbfounded. “What do you mean by this?”

Guangdang!

The door to the sentry tower opened, and a plump man holding onto a gun berated, “Bastards, what have you hidden inside your trucks?”

The soldier turned to the plump man and shouted, “Who the hell are you? Do you know that this is a vehicle of the Garrison Troops?”

“Hah! I am from the Inspection Squad of the Garrison Troops!” the plump man walked over and slapped the soldier’s face. “Are you hiding something on the truck?!”

The soldier was dumbstruck.

“We’ll talk about this later on,” the plump man from the Inspection Squad said impatiently. “I have received orders just a moment ago. Did you hide a few fugitives in your car tonight…?”

At the same time, in Immigration Office in Fengbei, the officer who was in charge of logistics duty on this night sat down on a metal chair with a lowered head as he spat furiously, “Those bunch of assholes sure is vicious. They intentionally made us lower our wariness, huh? I’m going to give a call to the platoon commander!”

On the way to the Development District.

A young man dressed in goatskin said with a frown, “Brothers, try to hold it in, alright? We can’t afford to stop here…”
