Necromancer: I Am A Disaster Chapter 51 - A Pitch-Black Radiance And A Demon Head

Lin Moyu's conjecture was spot on.

In the history of the Shenxia Empire, only a handful of examinees had managed to clear the second stage of the fifth round of the examination. This round, known as the Battle-Space, served as the final test.

Battle-Space comprised five stages, but the current record stood at passing the third stage—a feat achieved over a century ago. Since then, no one has managed to surpass this milestone.

The examiners of Jiangning Province watched with interest, speculating whether Lin Moyu could be the one to break the record.

"I think he has a shot."

"Though I have no idea what his exact skills are, judging by his previous results, they're clearly extraordinary—abnormal, even."

The examiners hesitated to describe Lin Moyu's abilities as merely powerful; "abnormal" seemed far more fitting.

"Could he have awakened a talent?"

"Even the strongest class has its limits. His abilities seem beyond anything any class could achieve."

"If he truly has awakened a talent, that would be phenomenal."

"Exactly. If someone awakens a talent just after awakening their class, there's a chance they could awaken a second talent during their second class awakening."

"That's asking for a miracle. Class users with one talent are already rare. Two talents? That's almost unheard of."

"Who knows? Anything's possible."

The conversation meandered, but all eyes remained fixed on Lin Moyu's points, which either stayed static or skyrocketed like a rocket—a stark contrast that captured their attention.

Lin Moyu continued using his tried-and-true strategy. His Skeletal Warriors surged forward, immediately drawing the attention of the Ferryn Beastmen.

The brilliance of his approach lay not in its novelty but in its efficacy.

The Skeletal Warriors would attract the monsters' firepower, herd them into a tight cluster, and create a corpse in the process. Lin Moyu then would unleash his devastating Corpse Explosion to obliterate them en masse.

By now, Lin Moyu had perfected this method, achieving maximum efficiency with every encounter.

The scattered Skeletal Warriors quickly drew the attention of every Ferryn Beastman within sight. They swiftly maneuvered around the Ferryn Beastman Archers, corralling the monsters into a tight formation.

Once the group was gathered, Lin Moyu gave the command, and the Skeletal Warriors released their skill and attacked, instantly felling several Level 16 Ferryn Beastman Champions.

Without hesitation, Lin Moyu followed up with successive Corpse Explosions. In mere moments, the battlefield fell silent again.

His points surged by 20,000, bringing his total to 34,605.

In the second stage of the examination, each monster was worth 100 points. By eliminating 200 monsters in one sweep, Lin Moyu secured a massive boost to his score.

This time, the examiners managed to stay composed, though their amazement was evident.

"He’s already entered the second stage."

"The monsters here are only one level higher than the first stage. It makes no difference to him."

"At this rate, it’s no different from handing him free points. If only we had the authority to increase the difficulty."

"Exactly. Imagine unleashing dozens of bosses at once—that would be a real challenge."

The stark contrast between Lin Moyu’s score and the others' was impossible to ignore.

So far, Xia Xue held second place.

As an Elemental Mage, Xia Xue excelled in group offensive skills, allowing her to eliminate monsters at a relatively fast pace. By this point, she had accumulated over 7,000 points, having nearly cleared the first wave of 100 monsters.

Following behind Xia Xue was Feng Xiu.

This Sacred Swordsman had surged ahead, amassing 6,000 points. It was clear that the Sacred Swordsman class excelled in crowd combat.

Next were Zuo Mei and Wang Zihao.

Zuo Mei adopted a methodical approach, launching one calculated attack after another. While her strategy was steady, it lacked efficiency, causing her progress to lag slightly.

Wang Zihao, on the other hand, took a more direct approach. He charged headlong into the fray, relying on sheer force to overwhelm his enemies. However, he had yet to activate his Frenzy skill, reserving it for a more opportune moment.

Both Zuo Mei and Wang Zihao were accumulating points at a slower pace, each currently sitting just above 5,000 points. Despite this, they remained confident in their abilities.

For them, clearing the first stage and reaching 10,000 points was well within reach. Achieving this milestone would mean meeting the necessary requirements in level, class, and score to secure admission to Xiajing Academy.

The great examination of the Shenxia Empire was a nationwide event conducted simultaneously across all provinces. Each province progressed at a similar pace, with the fifth round—the Battle-Space—already underway in practically every region.

The Trial Towers opened their Battle-Spaces, signaling the start of the final test. Only the most gifted examinees could step into these Battle-Spaces, individuals universally acknowledged as geniuses.

This year, the Shenxia Empire was witnessing one of its most talented groups of examinees yet. To the senior figures of the empire, these young individuals represented the future, the foundation upon which the nation’s strength would continue to grow.

Each year, a new cohort of prodigious seedlings emerged, injecting fresh vitality into the empire’s ranks and ensuring its prosperity.

In Xiajing City, the capital of the Shenxia Empire, a massive tower appeared in midair.

It was nothing short of awe-inspiring. No matter where one stood in the city, the tower loomed large in the sky, its grandeur impossible to ignore.

This was the main body of the Trial Tower, an extraordinary structure that remained hidden throughout the year, only revealing itself on the day of the Great Examination. The Trial Towers scattered across the provincial capitals were merely its avatars.

In the Shenxia Empire, there were three legendary towers.

One of them was the Trial Tower, a cornerstone of the Great Examination. Another was the Shenxia Tower. The last was the Demon Extermination Tower, permanently stationed on the front lines.

Without warning, the sky darkened, and an eerie chill swept through Xiajing City. The temperature plummeted, and an oppressive darkness enveloped the land.

Then, a pitch-black radiance streaked through the sky at an astonishing speed, heading straight for the Trial Tower.

"Brazen!" A deafening voice thundered across the city, shaking the very air.

High above, a colossal hand materialized, its translucent fingers reaching out to intercept the pitch-black radiance.

"Ke-ke, you can't stop me!" Eerie, mocking laughter echoed from the dark radiance.

As it spoke, the dark radiance swelled, and a huge Demon head appeared in the darkness.

Its grotesque form loomed in the darkness—two jagged horns, a mouth brimming with razor-sharp teeth, and an expression twisted with malice. It was the very image of a Demon as described in textbooks.

The horns emitted a piercing, bone-chilling sound. Moments later, beams of black light erupted from them, surging toward the giant illusory hand.

When the black light collided with the illusory hand, the two forces cancelled each other out.

Suddenly, another figure appeared—a giant eyeball suspended in the air. From it, a brilliant golden beam of light shot forth, aimed squarely at the dark radiance.

The pitch-dark radiance reacted instantly, splitting into two halves.

One half slammed into the golden beam.

The other half, however, accelerated dramatically—its speed increasing dozens of times in an instant. In a blink, it bypassed all defenses and streaked directly into the Trial Tower.

"You must be tired of living!" The booming voice roared again.

A second colossal hand appeared, gripping the Demon head.

But the Demon head merely chuckled, its voice dripping with malice, "This is just an avatar. Go ahead, destroy it. But the little ones inside your Trial Tower... ke-ke..."

With a deafening blast, the Demon head exploded.
