Necromancer: I Am A Disaster Chapter 40 - Teleporting Into The Provincial Capital; The Great Examination Begins

As the students returned, the principals quietly observed, their competitive spirits piqued. So far, no one had gained a significant advantage. Most students were between level 10 and level 13, with no sign of level 14 yet.

"Why haven't Xia Xue, Lin Moyu, and Gao Yang returned yet?" Lu Yun muttered as the sky darkened, a hint of worry creeping into his voice. His expression grew tense—by now, they should have been back. "Could something have happened?"

Just as night threatened to fully descend, Lu Yun spotted three figures in the distance. Relief washed over him. "They're back." He murmured, a smile breaking across his face, "Finally."

At this moment, the results hardly mattered—what was important was their safe return. A gust of wind carried Detection spells towards the trio.

[Gao Yang, level 12, Sword and Shield Knight]

[Xia Xue, level 15, Elemental Mage]

The principals exchanged shocked glances—Xia Xue had truly reached level 15. With her current strength, she had at least an 80% chance of being accepted into Xiajing Academy. In fact, as long as she didn't perform poorly in the great examination, her entry into the academy was all but guaranteed.

The last to be scanned was Lin Moyu. The principals, second-awakened level 40-plus class users, could easily see through his Cloaking Badge's effects.

[Lin Moyu, level 16, Necromancer]

The principals gasped in shock. Lin Moyu had reached level 16—one level higher than Xia Xue. His leveling speed was astonishing.

"They must've been grinding in a dungeon."

"Gao Yang’s sword and shield and Xia Xue's stave, both seem to be drops from the Goblin King."

"But, the drop rate of equipment is very low. It's not easy to collect the corresponding equipment."

"Perhaps they were just lucky."

When Lin Moyu and company reached the city gate, Principal Lu Yun greeted them, "Head inside and wait in the bus. Once everyone's here, we'll head back to school together."

Gao Yang was the only one to respond, loudly acknowledging, "Yes, Principal!"

Lu Yun beamed with satisfaction. In the silent competition among the principals, he'd come out on top. Both Lin Moyu and Xia Xue were poised to enter Xiajing Academy, a prestigious accomplishment for both Xihai City and No. 1 High School. As the principal of No. 1 High School, his pride was palpable.

Once all the students had returned, Lu Yun boarded the bus. "As a teacher." He began, "The greatest reward is seeing your students return safely. Get a good rest tonight. Tomorrow morning, be at school early—we're heading to the examination site together."

The great examination won’t be held at the school or even in Xihai City. Instead, it was set in Jianghai City, the provincial capital of Jiangning Province. While Xihai City was merely a medium-sized city, Jianghai was a bustling metropolis. The annual great examination always took place there, overseen by examiners from the Shenxia Empire.

That night, Lin Moyu meditated. The looming great examination didn’t concern him—he was confident in his ability to enter Xiajing Academy. Beyond that, he had set his sights on something even greater: the title of provincial top scorer. His earlier ambitions had been simple, focused solely on admission to Xiajing Academy. But after hearing Ning Yiyi and Xia Xue speak about the renowned Chuangshen Institute, his interest was piqued.

The next morning, Lin Moyu woke on time, his spirit force fully restored. He was in peak condition. His 100 Skeletal Warriors waited silently in his summon space, ready to spring into action at a moment's notice. With his talent’s amplification, each Bronze Skeletal Warrior now boasted 5,000 points in all four attributes, and with the two devastating skills, Soul Blaze and Corpse Explosion, at his disposal, Lin Moyu felt calm and ready for whatever lay ahead.

When he arrived at the school’s sports field, a large crowd of students had already gathered, their excitement for the upcoming great examination palpable.

Gao Yang enthusiastically waved toward him, calling out, "Boss Lin!"

Lin Moyu walked over, giving a brief nod in acknowledgment. Though ranked first, Lin Moyu wasn’t particularly popular among his schoolmates. His reserved personality, coupled with his Necromancer class, made him seem distant—and even a little intimidating—to others.

A few moments later, Xia Xue arrived. Unlike Lin Moyu, Xia Xue was highly popular, and students quickly gathered around her. But to everyone’s surprise, she approached Lin Moyu and asked, "Are you confident?".

Lin Moyu gave a subtle nod.

Xia Xue broke into a smile, "Let’s meet at Xiajing Academy."

"Okay." Lin Moyu replied softly.

Once all the students had gathered, Principal Lu Yun stepped forward, "Here are the Teleportation Stones for the examination site. Each of you, take one."

He paused, then carried on: "You can either crush the Teleportation Stone or use your spirit force to activate it. The stone will then teleport you directly to the examination site. Remember—your first priority during the great examination is your safety. No matter what happens, ensure that you stay safe."

After a final pause to let his words sink in, Lu Yun declared, "Alright, let’s begin the teleportation."

One by one, the students activated their stones, disappearing in flashes of light. Lin Moyu activated his as well, vanishing like the others. After all the students had teleported, Lu Yun followed, heading to Jianghai City.

The examination site was massive—a sprawling square that seemed to stretch endlessly. Examinees from over a dozen cities across Jiangning Province teleported in, filling the square. Thousands of students were gathering for this crucial examination. The examinees of Xihai City were all placed in the same area.

For an entire half an hour, teleportation lights flickered as more and more participants arrived. Once the last students appeared, an awe-inspiring sight unfolded. Under the gazes of thousands of examinees, a towering structure descended from the sky. Its presence was commanding.

"The Trial Tower has opened!" A majestic voice echoed across the square.

With a deep rumble, the gate to the tower’s first floor slowly creaked open.

"Examinees, listen carefully to the rules." The voice continued, "You are not allowed to make noise or ask questions. Failure to comply with the rules will result in immediate disqualification."
