Chapter 997: The Start of the Invasion
That night, Lin Moyu entered the dungeon for the fourth time. This time, he commanded 76 Skeletal Warriors, their numbers steadily increasing with each raid. After the three previous runs, he now knew the layout of the dungeon like the back of his hand.
A new idea popped into his mind as soon as he stepped inside.
“I can give this a try.” He thought, “If it works, I can use it in other dungeons too.”
Under his command, the Skeletal Warriors surged into the mine like a relentless tide, drawing the attention of a large number of monsters. However, instead of engaging in combat, the Skeletal Warriors continued running deeper into the dungeon.
A strange sight unfolded. The Skeletal Warriors raced ahead, with a huge pack of Goblin-type monsters trailing behind them. Lin Moyu followed with a grin spread across his face.
Since the Skeletal Warriors had reached bronze rank, their maximum range had expanded to 1,000 meters. Lin Moyu only needed to stay within that distance.
With nearly a hundred monsters chasing after them, the Skeletal Warriors led the pack all the way to the Mine Wolf King’s lair.
Their arrival woke the slumbering Mine Wolf King, who immediately began attacking the Skeletal Warriors. But the undead summons ignored it and just waited for the monsters trailing them to catch up.
Subsequently, following Lin Moyu’s command, the Skeletal Warriors began to tighten their formation, forcing the Goblin monsters into a compact group.
At that moment, Lin Moyu appeared at the entrance to the massive tunnel, and the Skeletal Warriors finally struck, instantly killing a Goblin Mine Guard and tossing its body into the air.
Skill: Corpse Explosion!
Lin Moyu had been waiting for this. He activated his skill, and the Goblin corpse detonated with a deafening roar. The entire tunnel shook as stones tumbled from the walls, and droves of Goblin monsters were obliterated in the explosion.
Notifications flooded Lin Moyu's mind, too numerous for him to read. More corpses piled up, and without hesitation, he activated Corpse Explosion again. Explosions rang out ten times in a row, scraping off an entire layer of the dungeon’s ground.
The Mine Wolf King didn’t even have a chance to escape—it was caught in the blasts and died on the spot. Just as the dust settled, the iron gates in the tunnel swung open, and wave of Mine Wolves surged out.
Lin Moyu realized there was no need for the Mine Wolf King to run back and roar for reinforcements; the gates opened automatically. He ordered, “Draw them into the mining pit.”
What was inside the mining pit? Aside from some Goblin-type monsters, the Goblin King was there as well.
The Skeletal Warriors, now leading more than 100 Mine Wolves, sprinted toward the mining pit with Lin Moyu trailing behind.
Just then, a soft light enveloped Lin Moyu, signaling a level-up—he had reached level 14. It had been only five minutes since he entered the dungeon. His speed was insane.
The Skeletal Warriors descended along the path of the mining pit, drawing the monsters in the pit. By the time they reached the bottom, over 200 monsters were following them—Goblin-type creatures and Mine Wolves, all packed together in a tight huddle.
The Goblin King awoke, its eyes filled with bewilderment. It had no idea what was going on.
“I’ve come again.” Lin Moyu said with a smirk, arriving at the bottom of the pit.
Skill: Berserk Strike!
The Skeletal Warriors halted their spring and unleashed their skill, and their blades gleamed a fierce red.
In the blink of an eye, along with a whimper, a Mine Wolf was cut down, and its lifeless body was flung into the air before detonating.
Skill: Corpse Explosion!
Boom! Boom!
Explosions echoed violently throughout the mining pit, threatening to collapse the whole structure.
Lin Moyu’s EXP soared, with notifications flooding his mind, too numerous to read. Items and materials poured into his storage space.
Among the chaos, the Goblin King, just rousing from its slumber, didn’t even have time to stand before it was pummeled by the force of over a dozen successive Corpse Explosions, and then collapsed with a thud.
This time, its death was more tragic, but also more straightforward. Even if it felt pain, it only lasted a moment. Seeing the look of unwillingness on the Goblin King's face, Lin Moyu sighed softly, "After three more runs, I won't be coming back."
His words were an ominous promise, implying that the Goblin King would have to endure death three more times before Lin Moyu moved on.
"But you’re already used to it. People come to kill you every day."
[Killed Goblin King, EXP +40,000]
[Obtained Goblin King's Stave]
[Obtained elementary monster core]
[Goblin King's Stave: bronze rank weapon, spirit +10, physique +10, increases the power of Mage-type skills by 3%. Usable after level 12.]
Lin Moyu glanced at his EXP—level 14 (60%). He estimated that with one more run, he’d reach level 15. After that, the grind would grow harder, with the EXP requirement likely to jump by two or three times.
"I can enter the dungeon up to three more times. If all goes as planned, I should reach level 16 by the end." Lin Moyu thought, "However, I can only make a proper judgment once I hit level 15 and see the EXP required for the next level-up."
By now, the area outside the dungeon had resumed its usual buzz of activity, though there were fewer people, and none of the faces were familiar. From bits of conversation, Lin Moyu pieced together that the Dynasty Guild had sent people here, likely trying to gather intel—but they didn’t seem to have found anything useful yet.
Unlike before, Lin Moyu didn’t leave the dungeon's vicinity. Instead, he found a quiet, secluded spot and began to meditate.
The number of Skeletal Warriors under his control had grown by four, bringing the total to 80. The four attributes of the skeletons had reached 4,600 points each—higher than even the attributes of the nightmare rank dungeon boss, the Goblin King.
Their only shortcoming was their skill, lacking the high destructive power of the Goblin King's Flame Spout.
While meditating, Lin Moyu suddenly received a message from one of his Skeletal Warriors: someone was approaching.
