Necromancer: I Am A Disaster Chapter 34 - How Can You Ignore The Cooldown?

"What level are you?" A familiar voice broke Lin Moyu’s thoughts. He opened his eyes to see Xia Xue standing before him. Her delicate face was covered in dust, and elemental energy swirled around her, a clear sign that she had just finished a battle and come out of the dungeon. Her expression was defiant as she fixed her gaze on Lin Moyu.

"Level 14." Lin Moyu said flatly.

"What?!" Xia Xue exclaimed, her eyes wide. "How are you leveling up so fast?"

She had partied up with others to clear the ordinary rank Xihai Mine dungeon twice in a row, and after all that effort, she had only managed to go from level 10 to level 11. The two consecutive dungeon raids had drained her energy. Even though she knew Lin Moyu could solo dungeons, she couldn’t comprehend how he was leveling up so rapidly.

Xia Xue had no idea Lin Moyu wasn’t tackling the ordinary rank dungeon—he was raiding the nightmare rank one.

Lin Moyu didn’t offer any further explanation. He wasn’t the type to justify himself.

Xia Xue, knowing his personality, understood that he wasn’t lying. If Lin Moyu claimed he was level 14, it meant he really was level 14. Still, the growing gap between them fueled the fire of competition in her eyes.

Leveling became increasingly difficult the higher one climbed. On the first day of the novice dungeon, Xia Xue had reached level 5, while Lin Moyu had soared to level 7. That was a two-level difference.

In theory, the distance between them should have narrowed. So why had it actually widened?

Xia Xue scoffed, "I won't admit defeat."

With that, she turned and walked away. Lin Moyu watched her retreating figure, feeling dumbfounded.

In the past few years, he had always been ahead of Xia Xue. Before their class awakening ceremony, he had consistently ranked first in all subjects, with Xia Xue following closely behind in second. And after the ceremony, he had continued to leave her in the dust, blazing through the novice dungeon and leveling up at an extraordinary rate.

He knew Xia Xue had always been bitter about it, competing with him all this time. Yet no matter how hard she tried, whether it was before or after the class awakening ceremony, he never gave her a chance to catch up.

As Lin Moyu sat quietly, he noticed Xia Xue entering the dungeon with several other people.

“Strange.” He thought, “Didn’t she just come out? How is she going in again so quickly? What about the dungeon’s cooldown?”

Lin Moyu witnessed something incredible. He had experimented with both ordinary rank and nightmare rank difficulties, and both had a cooldown. After clearing the nightmare rank dungeon, he couldn’t enter the ordinary rank one either, not until the 12-hour cooldown was up. So how was Xia Xue able to re-enter so soon?

Lin Moyu was sure Xia Xue had recently come out of the dungeon. The lingering combat aura and the distinct Goblin King’s presence on her were unmistakable.

While Lin Moyu meditated, his Skeletal Warrior kept watch. Two hours later, Xia Xue emerged from the dungeon, having successfully cleared it. She couldn't help but glance at him.

Lin Moyu noticed the exhaustion in her eyes, likely from the toll of continuous combat.

Moments later, she joined another party and re-entered the dungeon. Lin Moyu observed her using an item before going in, which surrounded her with a faint glow. He guessed that this item allowed her to bypass the dungeon's cooldown.

"I should ask her about it when I get the chance." Lin Moyu thought before resuming his meditation, his spirit force gradually recovering.

With his level rising, his spirit force attribute stood out. It had now reached 700 points, significantly higher than his other attributes, which were relatively low. This unbalanced distribution was typical for Mage-type classes, and Lin Moyu had no choice but to accept this reality.

A few hours later, he heard heavy footsteps. The exhausted Xia Xue approached. Even without the cooldown restriction, she was unable to continue raiding. Her body had reached its limit.

"I'm so tired." She said, slumping to the ground, unconcerned about her appearance.

Xia Xue showed no fear of the Skeletal Warrior standing beside Lin Moyu. After all, he was her classmate, so there was nothing to fear or worry about.

After catching her breath, she regained some energy, "I'm already level 12. I’ll catch up to you soon."

It would take at least three or four more raids in the ordinary rank dungeon for Xia Xue to reach level 13. Catching up to him would be no easy task.

Lin Moyu glanced at the exhausted Xia Xue. "Aren't you tired?"

Xia Xue snorted, "Of course I'm tired. Even lifting my hands feels like a chore."

"Then why?"

She wore a disgruntled expression, “Why? After suppressing me for so many years, you still have the gall to ask? I will surely surpass you.”

“Just because of that?”

Lin Moyu hadn’t realized her grudge ran so deep. Had he known, he would have let her take first place in school.

Xia Xue glanced at the sky, “Of course not. I’m planning to apply to Xiajing Academy. You’re going too, right? So you should understand.”

To apply to Xiajing Academy, one needed to be at least level 14, preferably level 15, and level 16 would be the safest bet. With just over two days left, Lin Moyu thought she would likely only reach level 14. Reaching level 15 would be tough. Unless…

Lin Moyu said in a quiet voice, “You should raid the nightmare rank dungeon to level up faster.”

“Are you kidding? It’s not easy to join an elite party. They look for level 16 or level 17 class users, and I’m only level 12. No one will want me.”

She shot Lin Moyu an incredulous look, as if to say, "Do you understand now?"

Elite parties not only had level and class requirements but also strict equipment standards. Unless one was a Healer, they wouldn't budge on those requirements. For damage-dealer classes like Xia Xue’s, the requirements were the highest.

Seeing Lin Moyu remain silent, Xia Xue continued, “That’s why I’ve been grinding in the ordinary rank dungeon. I should easily reach level 14, and with some effort, I might even hit level 15.”

After hearing her out, Lin Moyu finally asked, “How can you ignore the cooldown?”
