“Medicine.” Auntie Sun held a bag of medicine, “It arrived by courier in the afternoon. Didn’t you order it?”

Lu Jingyan was stumped.

She took a moment to react and recalled that Sheng Xian said he had bought her medicine.

She grabbed the medicine from Auntie Sun’s hand, turned and ran out before changing out of her slippers.

“Eh?” Lu Jingyan was far away before she could say anything more.

The entrance was empty, she glanced about but Sheng Xian was nowhere in sight.

Auntie Sun followed behind, “Miss Lu, what are you looking for?”

“Nothing.” Lu Jingyan retracted her gaze, she hugged the bag of medicine and slowly walked back into the house.

“Miss Lu, did you drink again?” Auntie Sun could smell the alcohol on her, “Have the medicine first. Let me know if you don’t feel well at night, I’ll make some honey water for you later.”

Lu Jingyan didn’t hear her words clearly, she replied with a placating “Mmh” and walked up the stairs with the medicine.

Once she reached her bedroom, Lu Jingyan sat on her bed and poured the contents of the bag, took a photo and sent it to Sheng Xian, “You bought this?”

She sat crossed legged on the bed for a long time, staring at the medicine on the bed. Even after Auntie Sun came with the honey water, there was still no notification on her phone.

After Auntie Sun left, her phone vibrated and she pounced onto her bed to grab it. It was a text from Song Xian, “Babe, are you ok?”

Lu Jingyan replied to her disinterestedly, “I’m alright.”

They spoke idly for a while, Song Xian probably drank too much and stopped replying. Lu Jingyan exited the chat, leaned on the bed, supporting her head with one hand as she toyed the medicine box with the other.

Young Lady Lu has never been patient, and Sheng Xian’s lack of response ate up the tiny bit of patience she had mustered up. She unlocked her phone in frustration and started her tirade.

“What’s so great about being a professor? Does that allow you to disregard others?”
