Horror Game Designer Chapter 30: Bai Xiao

The shadows disappeared. Gao Ming and Zhu Suisui returned to the real world. Rain pattered on their bodies. Zhu Suisui collapsed to the ground. Her nerves finally relaxed. Zhu Suisui looked at Building Four dumbly. Not too long ago, ten investigators gathered there, but only two were left. Everyone had the same training at the centre. Their faces were imprinted on her mind.

“They’re not dead, just lost on the other side of the world.” Gao Ming was a psychiatrist. He knew what Zhu Suisui was thinking instantly. “They will survive in that shadow world. We need to get it together and become stronger to fetch them home.”

Zhu Suisui nodded and looked at Gao Ming with respect. The man was unapproachable, but he was always the first to charge into danger. “We should prepare to return.”

“The devices are still inside the building.” Zhu Suisui tossed the axe into the van and ran into the building to start packing. Half an hour later, Gao Ming led the way with the bike from the centre while Zhu Suisui followed him behind with a van. The two eventually reached the Li San Investigation Centre Division. Before they could get down, many agents surrounded them.

“We’ve lost signal with the black band of Team One’s Vice Leader! We can’t contact the others either. What happened?”

“This is just a Level One Anomaly. Why were so many people involved?”

“Who are you?”

In the chaos, a young man with a sharp aura walked over. He opened the backdoor of the van. When he saw that there was no one else, he stood there silently. The other agents stopped talking.

After a long time, the young man turned to Gao Ming, “I’m Li San Investigator Centre Team One’s Team Leader, Bai Xiao. Bai Qiao is my little sister. What happened to you?”

Bai Xiao’s lips moved, but he didn’t say anything. He entered the van alone.

“I hear Leader Bai has a horrible temper. Be careful.” Zhu Suisui whispered to Gao Ming.

Gao Ming nodded, but he didn’t really care.

They entered the division. Gao Ming and Zhu Suisui took out their bands. They described the whole process. Bai Xiao and the other members of Team One listened as well. Halfway through, Li San Centre’s centre captain, Chen Yuntian, hurried over. Eight investigators got lost in the anomaly. This was a big deal. After two hours, everything was noted down. The info given by Gao Ming was sent to the headquarters. Everyone had a better understanding.

“I gave you three days to adjust yourself. I haven’t even returned, but you’re already here.” Chen Yuntian called Gao Ming to the corner. “The anomaly last night caught everyone by surprise. No one wanted to see this. Thankfully, you were there, or all of us might die. If no info were gained, then it would be a true failure.” Chen Yuntian had pain in his eyes, but he didn’t show it. “Gao Ming, well done. But you need to rest for the next two days and try to work with the other agents. After all, you need to rely on each other in the anomaly. Trust is very important.” Chen Yuntian soon departed.

“What did the captain tell you?” Zhu Suisui followed Gao Ming.

“He told me to be friends with everyone.” Gao Ming came to the second floor and pushed open the door to Team One’s office. The office looked so empty. Other than Bai Xiao, there were only three agents with black bands. The three were originally talking with Bai Xiao, but once Gao Ming entered, they shut up.

He was trying so hard to control himself. “Blaming others for your own pain is a stupid thing. What I want to tell you is that as a member of Team One, you don’t need to worry about being isolated or betrayed. Our enemy is the anomaly. Only then can more people survive in this tragedy!”

Gao Ming slowly raised his head. He didn’t expect Bai Xiao to tell him this.
