All the dragons went silent at the audacity of this request. Long Baofu who was silent the entire time growled as he glared in Long Jin’s direction.

“Are you mad!?”

****

“Long Jin, you’re mad!”

“How dare you put forward such a thing!?”

“Even if you’re the First Claw, do you think you can say anything!?”

“Ptu! I underestimated you, you should be stripped of your title as First Claw!”

“Don’t go too far! Do you think you can eat shit AND spew it!? Your breath stinks you overly arrogant thing!” Long Jin flew into a rage when a barrage of insults flew his way.

At first, he planned to take these insults because, in truth, he knew what he was proposing was pure madness.

However, when the insults started to attack his character, he couldn’t help himself from exploding in anger!

“Do you think you have any ground to stand on making a request like that!?”

“Whose breath are you saying stinks you old decrepit thing!”

“Decrepit your mother!”

“Your mother!”

“Calm down you fools!”

“You’re the fool!”

Verbal barbs with only the occasional missile of wisdom were continuously exchanged among these leaders of the Dragon Race.

In truth, something like this happening was quite rare. Though Dragons were arrogant and overbearing most of the time, these leaders curbed this trait as best as they could to have a civil conversation amongst themselves when the time came.

However, Long Jin’s request caused their blood to boil and their innate nature to burst free only a bit.

This was great control on their part as any other Dragon would have long started fighting.

The reason for this was because of the meaning of the thing known as the Draconic Ancestral Blood Pool.

This was a sacred place even for the Dragons. It contained the blood essence of the Dragon race’s most powerful ancestors.

Not only did these dragons perform deeds that were beyond meritorious in their times. The purity of their blood essence reached an obscene degree as well.

Any dragon that bathed in this pool would undergo a complete transformation. The benefits that came from using this pool were too many to count.

Of course, this meant that not just anyone was qualified to use it. As a matter of fact, within the last thousand years, the only dragon that was qualified enough AND passed the trials necessary to use the Draconic Ancestral Blood Pool was Long Ruo, Pebbles The Wondercat’s mother, and Long Tanghuang’s wife and queen.

Long Tanghuang was offered this honour as well but declined it much to the uproar of the Dragon race. So though he received a slot for it, he never used it.

Due to his immense wisdom, many thought that he saved the slot for his son instead. They believed he foresaw Long Tian Yan’s conception and did so in preparation for him.

A slot for the Draconic Ancestral Blood Pool was not easy to come by. Only a mere handful was created in the last several thousand millennia. After all, while it could be used, it was hard to replenish.

Not just any dragon’s blood essence could be placed in the Draconic Ancestral Blood Pool. Not even the Claws here were worthy to have their blood essence placed in the pool, much less bathe in the pool themselves.

Yet First Claw Long Jin, actually proposed to have a human use a slot to enter the Draconic Ancestral Blood Pool. This was why the Dragons reacted the way they did.

Once again, Dragons rarely revere anyone or anything. Long Tanghuang was the only Dragon within their long line of history to hold their respect and the title of Dragon King.

Apart from him, what they revered was this sacred place of theirs. It was almost religion to them.

“Again, she bore the Dragon’s Ancestral Monument’s markings!” Long Jin roared. “What say you!?”

As of now, he no longer had any misgivings about this. Though he felt uneasy about his word, his enkindled anger had him challenge them about this.

Maybe he was right, maybe he was wrong. He knew why he was doing this, and it was his choice to do so all the same.

“What bullshit markings of the Dragon’s Ancestral Monument! That can’t be true!” Long Shi Kuai stated.

“Twice! Twice now you call me a liar Long Shi Kuai!” Long Jin’s patience ran dangerously low.

“We couldn’t care less Long Jin, about your honesty. We call you no coward but at the same time, how could a human possess those markings?” asked Long Yushi, the Veristic Water Sage Dragon.

“I have no idea,” Long Jin stated. “However, I knew what I saw. Would you all forsake your teachings? Here? Now? For a human?”

All the dragons within the meeting went silent at this point. Though the Draconic Ancestral Blood Pool was the dream of many dragons and held a special place in their heart, it didn’t mean that the Dragon’s Ancestral Monument was any less important. In fact, it might even be more important based on what perspective you viewed it from.

The Dragon’s Ancestral Monument was something of paramount importance within their Dragon Race. It contained not only fragments of the history of the Dragon Race, but secrets within that couldn’t be shared freely as well.

This information was passed down not as normal characters but as special runes that held a special characteristic to them. It was extremely difficult to decipher these runes but every dragon, young and old knew one thing from looking at these runes, and that was to look to the one who bore its mark.

This soon became synonymous with its teachings. That’s why these dragons, stubborn and unyielding as they were, went quiet when Long Jin brought this up.

“I-I cannot accept this!” one of them said after a while.

“Long Baofu, you cannot—” Long Jin looked to the Second Claw before the latter spoke once more.

“A trial!” he proposed. “A trial, at the very least. And we must get the approval of the Dragon King!”

“Long Baofu!” Long Jin snorted, sending a plume of smoke from his nostrils. “These are our teachings!”

“First Claw!” Another dragon stated. “These are our conditions. This is as much as we are willing to back down!”

Long Jin looked at them all. “You all feel this way!? You would forsake the teachings and foist these trials upon her!? Upon them!?”

None of them said anything. They all stared elsewhere, not daring to meet his gaze.

Not out of fear no, but out of embarrassment. The rules were clear to them, and the teachings were concise but their prejudice held them back.

“Fine!” Long Jin turned and his tail whipped in turn, creating a sonic boom in his wake. “Meeting adjourned!”

As Long Jin made his way out of the room and through the tunnel that led there, a sonorous voice rang out in his head.

‘Thank you.’

‘You needn’t thank me. I follow your lead as I trust you.’ Long Jin responded.

‘You brought it farther than I had thought possible,’ the voice said, sounding mildly amused at Long Jin’s acting skills.

‘Please don’t tease this old dragon,’ Long Jin pleaded.

‘Hehehe… fine. It’s all going to plan.’

Long Jin waited for a while more and after hearing the voice say nothing, he spoke. ‘Are you sure this is the right path? Not even I feel sure about this.’

‘We need them. Their role is important and she must retain that ambition.’

‘Truly, you can’t be serious!’ When Long Jin heard this, his pride was touched. If it was anyone else who said this, he wouldn’t be as calm as he was now.

‘I am. Trust me. This matter shall be settled soon… er, you may need to leave the Dragon Region for a moment,’ the voice retreated from his mind and Long Jin knew it.

He then whispered under his breath. “As you wish… my King.”

In a cave draped in darkness, silence of a different kind reigned supreme. Yet, it was this silent darkness that drew taut the nerves of every single being here.

Whether it be dragon, man or otherwise, all would be on edge in the face of this meeting.

The Long family were relegated to a cave that none of the dragons used. As far as the dragons were concerned, they were not worthy of concern or using what they themselves used.

However, none of this mattered as of now. This was because two beings that many would say should never meet each other have finally met.

Both were breathtakingly beautiful with an icy arrogance that held all but a few at length.

One had fiery red hair, with jagged horns that rose crazily from the sea of flames that they resembled. Her figure was sensual and pronounced to the extreme, yet it perfectly demonstrated the strength that lay within.

No one, save for her husband and son could enter her eyes. She sat cross-legged with her eyes closed seemingly awaiting something.

The other one had pitch-black hair that was in disarray. Countless scars and wounds marred her body. Despite all this, she possessed a prestige and domineeringness held by few.

Her expression gave nothing away. None of the warmth she held for her husband was present at the moment and he didn’t mind it.

She was on her back, on account of her injuries but her eyes were on this mysterious woman all the same.

Even though the experts of the Long family stood between her and this woman, they only ‘saw’ each other.

After a while, the woman opened her eyes and spoke. “You dare not answer me?”

“Who are you to demand an answer from her!?” Long Huangdi roared.

Dum!

His cultivation base exploded as his protective instincts kicked in!

This woman was dangerous!

“Queen Of the Dragons! Wife of Long Tanghuang and mother of Long Tian Yan!” she roared back. “Now who are you to question me!”

Long Nuhuang’s own protective instinct kicked in and she roared back.

“Mistress of the Long Family! Wife of Long Huangdi and mother of he who would bring these Heavens down low!”
