“Where’d you get the chai—?”

“Do… go on.”

So we were atop Lord Whiskers speeding along since we got some pretty important information from a crying old man.

If you’re reading this out of context, I can’t help you.

Anyways, it was about our old friend Peach Blossom Sage, or as our crying old friend put it, Peach Blossom Venerate. Looks like he didn’t die as a Sage, go figure.

In any case, we were heading to where the crying old man (I may or may not have something to do with that. I admit nothing) told us the nearest town to this relic was.

From what he told me, it wasn’t a particularly popular town, but it was quite prosperous all the same and would receive quite the influx of cultivators because of the relic.

I let him live, if you’re all wondering. I may be borderline psychopathic… or full-blown unhinged based on the standards of my old world, but I’m not a monster.

I’m getting off-topic here. The important thing was, this would be the first clue in completing the mission the Peach Blossom Sage’s Spiritual Intent gave me.

If you’re wondering what that is, you’ll learn soon enough. I’ll give you a hint though, it’s eerily similar to something that has been happening recently, and I’m not all too sure that necrophilia is not involved.

I’ll let that simmer in your mind for a while. If I have to think about it, you have to think about it too.

We arrived before the city on the same day. Lord Whiskers Furryback the First’s speed was getting faster as the days went by.

Something told me, the day of his breakthrough was far closer than what Long Zhe told us.

“Lord Whiskers, when we eventually enter the relic, can you run off for me and unironically run the fade of every magical beast you come across? In so doing, revelling in the bloodlust you’re curating to indulge yourself to the absolute limit for me?”

Everyone heard my words and looked at me oddly.

Here it comes.

“The hell is that for!?” Pebbles was the first to question me on this.

“Heavenly Execution,” I told him.

His eyes brightened when I said this. “Oh, well that explains everything.”

“I’m sorry, is it just me, or did that explain nothing?” Mina said, slightly annoyed.

“Let’s be honest Mina, it can be both of those things,” I was feeling mighty troll-ish today.

“Screw you!” Mina cursed.

That was like her mantra.

“Meow, nyah! Puuuurr…”

“You don’t say,” said Pebbles and me at the same time.

“Jinx you owe me a soda!” I am sad to report that we said this at the same time as well.

“Jinx you owe me to two sodas!” …. I don’t wanna say what happened this time.

“What did Lord Whiskers say?” Shen Ling asked, realising that we were getting caught up in our own flow.

Mina looked at Shen Ling with what I could only describe as condolences. Something was gonna die today, and whether it was Shen Ling’s happiness or sanity remains to be seen.

The impetus for this was Pebbles looking at Shen Ling with an insulted expression. “Prime Waifu, did you not understand Lord Whiskers? He was speaking clear cat!”

Shen Ling’s face reddened though I’m sure she didn’t know why. “I’m sorry, speaking cat?”

Pebbles put a paw to his chest as if he was having a heart attack. “Oh, oh my gosh. You legit didn’t understand. You actually don’t understand Meow!?”

An expression of confusion coloured her face. “Come again?”

“Ugh!” Pebbles looked at her as if she shot his father. “The unculturedness! The betrayal! I rescind your Prime Waifu title!”

“Wait why!?” Shen Ling was instantly on the verge of tears.

“Not your choice Pebbles. Shen Ling is bae.”

Just like that, Shen Ling’s face beamed a smile right after. She was too into this stuff. I blame Pebbles for this. Speaking of, he wore an expression of hurt because of what I said. I’m not apologising.

“What happened to bros before hoes!?”

“One… she’s not a hoe, she’s bae. Two, I’m not betraying you, just stating facts, and as for you…” At this point, I turned to Lord Whiskers. “Are you ready to go on a murderous rampage right now to accumulate the energy required for you to break through?”

“Meow!”

“Well, don’t let us stop you.”

I saw Qin Ling behind us, taking this all in with no small amount of surprise. To be fair, I don’t blame her. She was riding a Shidashi Mao, a creature known as a living calamity. She might not have been able to react properly on account of the debilitating effects of her cultivation technique on her emotions. Then after that, we got right into working on her cultivation technique.

On that note, this is the first time she’s been able to take in the dynamic of the whole group with her own eyes. Well, she could continue with that on her own for a while. I had way too much stuff to do.

Why is‌ it that I, as an eleven-year-old mind you, have so much to do?

“Okay Lord Whiskers, when the time comes, you should be going for your Sixth rank advancement. That’s equivalent to a Martial Grandmaster in realm, so I’ll be relying on you or I’ll die.”

“You’ll die!?” Qin Ling evinced shock at what I said.

“That checks out,” Mina took what I said and ran with it.

Xiannu Liang and Shen Ling didn’t say anything but went silent with worried appearances. Their lack of words made me know that while like Mina they knew about my lack of likeability with strangers in a five-mile radius on account of my Mc-ish aura, they were still uncomfortable all the same.

Regardless, at the very least, Shen Ling knew that this wasn’t something I could ignore.

To ensure Lord Whiskers’s breakthrough went smoothly. We all disembarked him just before we entered the city.

We saw as he dashed off at an incredible speed into the distance before an unearthly killing intent erupted soon after.

I swear to god this thing was like a cat in any and every way. If I’m being honest, I couldn’t tell the difference between the two. Well, that was if we ignored the fact that he’s big enough for us to pay property taxes on him.

In any case, once we were sure he was well out of sight, we got to entering the city.

Thanks to our old crying friend I referenced so admiringly before, we knew that this city was called Sky High City.

It was a far cry from Cang Bian City in terms of appearance. The first thing was its scale wasn’t as exaggerated as the former.

Not only that, though it had a city wall, it wasn’t as high nor as grandiose. Nevertheless, the powers that were within putting Cang Bian City to shame.

Realising this, I looked at Xiannu Liang. “Put your cloak on. There are powers within that even though I am not afraid of them in a one-on-one, if they come at me altogether it would be a problem.”

She didn’t even hesitate and immediately donned the cloak to hide her emerald vine-entwined hair from view. She also retracted her aura as much as she could in order to blend in as much as possible.

“Good.” That was as good as I expected. I wasn’t going to have her remain in danger simply to satisfy my pride… mostly because I didn't have any but that’s besides the point.

Jiancheng Shu surprisingly was one of the most well-behaved people in the group. He just had his eyes glued to the schematics I gave him and kept chuckling to himself every now and again like a crack addict. Sometimes, he would even mumble sweet nothings to the schematic.

Long story short, the man’s got problems.

“First thing we need to do is to get some information and get some supplies, and I have an idea of where to go if there’s a branch here.”

Before long, Long Di was in a luxurious room sipping tea. He was the very picture of elegance as he held a pinky out while holding the cup.

“Brother Long Di!”

Suddenly an energetic fellow burst through the door, all smiles.

When Long Di saw him, he lethargically nodded in return.

“Hello, Yang Fuyou. I have a business proposal.”
