Chapter 673: When the Rain Continues
“Good! Make sure his corpse is left in the Spiritual Bingqi Realm!”
“Leave it to me!”
****
As soon as we entered the Spiritual Bingqi Realm, a soothing scene came to light
The only person who didn’t care was Mina. She was still peeved at me for my apparently rough treatment of her. Can you believe it?
As soon as she woke up, she flew into a rage cuz I had her slung over my shoulder, which caused her to slip from my grip, landing on her head.
The whole fiasco reached a head when she accused ME of possibly giving her brain damage. Of course, I was rightfully confused and asked her how can someone without a brain still suffer brain damage?
Suffice it to say, it didn’t end well, and she had been giving me the silent treatment ever since. Sooo… it did end well.
No one talked to her for fear of being the recipient of her rage. You never know what’ll set her off.
However, I’m sure even she has to admit, even if it was internal, that this place possessed a grand air.
Before us was this massive plain of lush vegetation and swirling spiritual mist. Large trees that I had never seen before towered into the skies like skyscrapers.
“The spiritual energy here is so dense,” Jia Yan commented after taking a deep breath.
“It’s heavily laden with wood elemental spiritual energy as well,” Xiannu Liang added with a smile.
“It is,” I couldn’t disagree.
Oh yeah, if you’re worried about the absence of our resident furry psychopath Lord Whiskers couldn’t come since he was too strong.
Unfortunately, there was no way for him to suppress his realm. Boy, when he heard he couldn’t come, it went about as well as you would expect.
He threw a tantrum much like Mina when he learnt he couldn’t go. The only difference between the two was that one acted like a wild animal while the other acted like a cat.
Of course, forty-five ear rubs later, he was appeased. So that was the end of that.
I had to tell him to keep calm and to stay in the forest outside so no one who came later would see him. I couldn’t be bothered to deal with the upheaval the appearance of a Shidashi Mao would cause.
“By the way, wasn’t there a sea of people outside? Where are they now?” Xiannu Liang asked. A cloak was pulled over her head to hide her features from prying eyes.
Green hair wasn’t a rarity in the world. It was just that her hair had lengths of what appeared to be vines growing in some areas braided with the hair itself.
Not only that, her eyes, in particular, were a striking emerald.
Combined with her porcelain skin that was absent of any blemish, and it truly made her look not ugly. There was also a faint smell of herbs that she naturally gave off.
All these things would give away her identity as a Nymph to those who were in the know.
“Probably transported to other locations within the Spiritual Bingqi Realm,” I told her. Don’t tell me you weren’t thinking this wasn’t the case either.
Yaomu Shou glanced in my direction when she heard me. “You’re pretty knowledgeable, aren’t you?”
See? These things are hella obvious.
“It’s the only thing that makes sense when you think about it.”
“I guess…” Yaomu Shou didn’t unnecessarily dwell on this. I love how she’s not overly shocked by everything I say anymore.
“Well, while I am curious about the weapons here and stuff, I would like to take upon your protector's offer in cultivating here for a while. I may not be able to spiritually cultivate, but it doesn’t mean that I can’t cultivate my somatic essence.”
“That’s true,” Yaomu Shou agreed. “However, we need to make sure we’re well hidden, so no one attacks us during this time.”
Hearing this, Jia Yan pointed forward, “How about over there?”
Looking forward, we saw a depression of some kind in the forest ahead that formed something similar to a sloped valley.
“Not bad,” Yaomu Shou smiled.
As we descended into the valley, its sides narrowed until we could travel in a single file line.
Even I, who was the smallest of the group barring Mina, had my shoulder rubbing against the sides. Everyone else had trouble squeezing through.
“Hm?”
I looked up in confusion because my senses picked up on something. I won’t say what it is now, because it shouldn’t be a problem unless I reference it or someone tempts fate by saying the forbidden words in any novel or show. So I’m steering clear of that.
After forcing our way through, we finally came into what appeared to be a clearing of some kind.
“Oh… wow,” Xiannu Liang was the first to comment when she saw what we found and I could see why.
It was a towering tree, and its bark was dark brown, nearly black. However, its most striking feature was its leaves.
Its leaves were a transparent green, almost like crystal. There was also dew on each leaf that granted them a greater gleam.
It easily stood at over 500 ft and gave off a gentle energy that caused my pores to open up. I swear, I can see why cosmetic companies are an extinct species in a cultivation world.
“What powerful life energy!” Yaomu Shou was shocked. Just standing near this tree revitalised her.
“What is it?” Jia Yan asked. Even though he wasn’t knowledgeable about herbs or plants, he knew this tree was a treasure.
Xiannu Liang clapped her hands in glee, “It’s an Emerald Ever-Dew Engendering Elk tree.”
“Yeah, calling it that is gonna be a no for me. I think I’ll go with EEDEE Tree for short cuz that whole name is just ridiculous.”
“Look there,” Shen Ling pointed to a particular section of the tree where there were a little over a dozen round fruits that shone with a gentle lustre.
Upon seeing this, Xiannu Liang’s eyes widened in shock, “E-Ever Dew fruits! Long Di, we need to get those!”
“What are those?” I never saw the little Nymph this excited before… except when she argued with me. See I bring life to this party.
“They’re able to completely revitalise the body. The juice inside can expel impurities and also raise the quality of either somatic essence or spiritual energy. Not only that, it can raise the level of either of them. With so many, we can raise our cultivation with virtually no trouble! They can only exist in places with dense spiritual energy, so they’re quite rare. Even though these fruits aren’t fully matured yet, they’re still priceless treasures and their effects are quite potent!”
“Doesn’t that mean that we found the perfect place to enter seclusion?” Jia Yan commented.
“Careful,” I warned him. I could feel the forbidden words on the horizon.
“What does he need to be careful about?” Zi Yu interjected. “What could possibly go wrong?”
-_-
As I live and breathe, the forbidden words were uttered and my scrotums wrinkle themselves in preparation for what was coming. Just know that I called it.
As a result, I didn’t waste any time. I quickly jumped for the nearest branch and started picking the Ever Dew Fruits like a madman.
Seeing my frantic actions, Yaomu Shou realised something was wrong and cultivated her somatic essence, readying herself for battle.
I was already halfway through picking the fruits when a piercing cry echoed from above.
“Krraaaaaaa!!!!”
I didn’t even look up; I looked back at Zi Yu who caught my gaze.
“What?” she asked.
“Your fault,” I told her.
“Uh?”
“It’s all your fault.”
“I don’t get it.”
“Global warming, rising gas prices, mental illness and death by a giant bird… all your fault.”
“How!?”
“Popular consensus states that this atrocity came to be by you simply existing. Are you willing to cease and desist?”
“Screw you!”
