I hope they'll make it in time, Hatter inwardly prayed as he looked at the distant mansion district through his office window.

However, even though Hatter had already told Catherine, the captain of the kingdom's Royal Guards, to head over there as soon as possible, he wasn't confident she could be of any use. According to historical records, when the Hero and Demon King fought, almost nobody could intervene in their fight.

Although Catherine already possessed brilliant strength and leadership capabilities despite being only in her twenties, if the opponent she faced was the Hero…

Just when Hatter was worried about Alice's situation, he suddenly had an inexplicable urge to vomit. Specifically, he felt as if something was trying to escape his body.

Hatter's complexion turned pale. Although he didn't know why he suddenly got the urge to vomit, it was already too late for him to run to the toilet. Leaning down, he subconsciously opened his mouth and puked.

However, to Hatter's horror, what came out of his mouth wasn't disgusting digested products. Instead, it was a black mass that had a muddy consistency.

What is this?!

After spitting this black mass out of his mouth, Hatter stumbled back in shock and horror. However, before he could figure out what had just happened, the black sludge-like mass suddenly shot into the air and smashed through the window. Then, it flew straight toward the Gem Mansion District.

Could it be…

Hatter was a little stunned when he saw where the black mass was flying toward. Then, he looked down at his right hand and quickly checked his spirit using spirit magic.

—Sure enough, his originally distorted spirit was gradually recovering.

It should be known that he had previously tried many times to return his spirit to a normal state. However, all of the methods he used were ineffective. Yet, now, after vomiting that black sludge out of his body, his spirit had started returning to normal.

After thinking for a moment, Hatter's expression turned ugly as he realized what was going on.
