The Defeated Saintess Is On A Journey To Tame The Evil God Book 01 Chapter 04.06 - Northern District's Haze

After unlocking the door with the key, a faint aroma rushed forward.

Xing Mo turned on the lights, and a small apartment presented itself in front of her, with neatly arranged furnishings, as if the owner had just left.

She placed Aria on a sofa, covered her with a blanket, and then summoned a courier and wrote a letter to her mentor, informing him about what happened tonight.

Throughout the entire process, Xing Mo didn't say a word.

After arriving at Miriam's apartment, she felt as if breathing has become a chore.

Aurora gazed at Xing Mo's back, who looked like a kitten wandering alone in an alley.

She then looked left and right and saw a picture frame on a desk.

Aurora picked up the picture frame, wiped away the dust with her hand, and saw the picture inside: two girls held a boy on a chair and braided his hair.

The boy, with a helpless look on his face, was obviously Xing Mo; the taller girl, laughing heartily, was Alice. Then there was a blond girl, who covered her mouth with a hand and couldn't help but smile.

"Who is this blond girl?" Aurora turned and asked Xing Mo.

"Miriam, my mentor's daughter, my classmate." Xing Mo replied.

Xing Mo opened the window and looked outside, then stepped back and fastened the curtains.

"Is this her apartment?" Aurora looked around curiously, "She's a meticulous girl."

Xing Mo didn't give a reply.

"She passed away, right?" Aurora asked softly.

"I don't want to talk about her." Xing Mo's voice was cold.

She just finished speaking, when she felt a pair of arms wrap around her neck.

"I can feel your anger, burning hotter than starfire. But you just hold it in."

Aurora leaned against Xing Mo's back, lowered her eyes, and spoke in a low voice: "Why have you suppressed it for so long? Is it because there is no way to take revenge? Because you're powerless?"

"I don't want to talk about her." Xing Mo repeated herself.

"You shouldn't be like this. As I see it, if someone took away your best friend, you should destroy him. Use your fire, inflame your fire, so that no one can stop you."

Aurora smiled. At this time, she truly is like an Evil God, whispering words of incitement in the ears of a believer.

Xing Mo was dumbfounded for some reason.

Her eyes turned sluggish in an instant. The moment her eyes regained their clarity, she sighed softly: "I don't know... who to take revenge on."

Something that has been imprisoned for a long time suddenly erupted, like a surging volcano.

"Instructor Lucius was the greatest contributor to the Steam Revolution. He was a very famous individual, and he worked very hard every day, nearly burying himself in work."

"As his daughter, Miriam was very sensible. She not only excelled in the academy, but even acted as Instructor's assistant after class, researching steam alchemy machines together with him."

"She was not only gifted in string magic, but also in mechanics. In just a few years, she was able to conduct experiments and research projects with Instructor, as if she were born for it."

"Miriam was a true genius. If she were still alive, her future would have been limitless."

"But that night, she died."

"Ever since the Steam Revolution changed the structure of the Citadel, beneficiaries emerged in different fields. At the same time, many old nobles lost their wealth."

"Among the people who lost their fortune, some started seeking revenge."

"They targeted Instructor, fanned the flames, accused him of crimes, and even issued death threats."

"In order to protect Miriam and himself, Instructor put in a lot of effort. He moved houses repeatedly. This apartment was a base where he and Miriam used to live."

"But even so, that incident still took place."

"That night, a steam alchemy machine in Instructor's workshop issued a strange alarm—it was a prototype that had yet to be injected with raw materials and be fully assembled and thus shouldn't have been able to trigger an alarm."

"By the time the Bell Protectors arrived at the scene, the alarm had already ended."

"The entire scene was filled with a high concentration of alchemical steam. If ordinary people—without any protection—were exposed to it, they would have died within seconds."

"If that steam were to leak out, half of the residents in the Northern District would have died instantly."

"However, the steam didn't diffuse, but instead was sealed in a Starflow Horizon."

"When I arrived at the scene, I saw the caster—Miriam was kneeling in the center of the workshop, hugging her wand, her head lowered, motionless."

"Until her death, her spirituality continued to resonate with strings, maintaining the barrier."

"She could have escaped, but she stayed there and protected the Northern District."

"At that time, Instructor went into a frenzy, triggering gold starlight to soar into the night sky. Even the pale blue moon lost its color."

"Till this day, we still haven't found the culprit—who sneaked into the workshop? Who finished assembling that prototype?"

Xing Mo sat in a chair, black hair cascading over her profile like a waterfall.

She trembled slightly. To this day, the pain of that night remained engraved deep inside her.

A small hand pushed aside the black waterfall, and Xing Mo turned her head and saw Aurora's smile.

Then, she felt a kiss on her cheek.

"Hey...?"

Xing Mo covered her cheek that was kissed by Aurora, momentarily stupefied.

Aurora tilted her head and smiled: "According to your human customs, kissing seems to be able to comfort people. So I gave it a try."

Before Xing Mo could respond, Aurora walked to the window and looked up at the pale blue moon in the sky: "Don't worry, you are my Young Saintess, and your enemy is my enemy."

"I'm different from your Goddess. If a believer of mine is being bullied, I will step in."

Aurora turned her head and gave Xing Mo an incandescent smile.

But the gleam in those blood-colored eyes was like a knife, seemingly capable of piercing through all things.

......

After she was done with all other matters, Xing Mo filled the bathtub in the bathroom, took off her clothes, and entered the water.

She squinted her eyes and let out a sigh.

That was a really tough day... I'm so tired, I'm so tired...

Xing Mo exhaled a breath. If it were before, whenever she recalled Miriam, it nearly tore her apart. But now she was much better.

But it seems like there hasn't been much progress... we lost the Angel's Tear's trail. I wonder if Senior will be able to find it.

Fortunately, if Senior does find it, she will definitely tell Instructor Lucius. This will be akin to telling me...

Let's just leave it at that. Tomorrow is Sunday. We can still have a day off, before going back to class the day after tomorrow.

Xing Mo closed her eyes and immersed herself in the soothing feeling of taking a bath.

At this moment, Xing Mo suddenly felt something pressing against her.

When she opened her eyes, she saw Aurora's pulsating heart-shaped pupils.

"Ah!"
