The Defeated Saintess Is On A Journey To Tame The Evil God Book 01 Chapter 04.05 - Northern District's Haze

The fight to determine the champion ended less than a minute into it.

After watching the incredible fight, the audience was stupefied.

Subsequently, thunderous cheers rose—

"She won! She won! The Dark Witch defeated the Soul Cleaver! What an overwhelming victory!"

"She is tonight's champion! She deserves to take the championship!"

The commentator almost shouted himself hoarse. At first, when he saw that the challenger was an orthodox Wizard holding a wand, he was disdainful.

After all, this is an underground arena, where everyone will use any means necessary—no matter how dirty—to win.

With a simple wand in hand, she was like a sheep entering a pack of wolves, innocent and lovely, ready to be torn apart in the next second.

Who knew that she was in fact a wolf walking into a herd of sheep!

The Dark Witch only used three string magic or lower from start to finish! Yet she used this unremarkable talent to unleash impeccable combos!

Even the Soul Cleaver, who won six consecutive fights tonight, was not a match for her!

On the viewing stands, Blackwood nodded in satisfaction, a smile on his face.

Standing next to him, Alice had a grave look in her dark red eyes.

Xing Sheng is just a new student, but her control over string magic and understanding of combat is unlike anything a new student should possess.

Although she used three string magic and below, but her calm and composed appearance...

Alice looked at the white haired young girl beside her. She is Xing Sheng's younger sister Xing Yu, and she is reportedly an albino.

This small lass was looking down at the arena with tears in her eyes. But when she saw her sister win, she smiled from ear to ear.

Crying and smiling at the same time... such raw emotions...

Alice turned her gaze back to the arena. At this moment, Xing Yu spoke up: "Senior, isn't my sister awesome?"

Alice turned her head in surprise and found Xing Yu looking at her with a smile on her face.

"She is..." Alice hesitated for a moment, "Where did she learn these things? I mean the combat skills."

Xing Yu's eyes dimmed in an instant, and then she said in a low voice: "Me and my sister are Fallouan refugees... When our parents and His Majesty went up the guillotine, we escaped... We trekked cross-country for a long time..."

"Along the way, in order to protect me, my sister kept practicing hard... kept fighting... that's why she is so awesome..."

So that's why... Alice couldn't help but sympathize. Consequently, she smiled and stroked Xing Yu's head: "Your sister is really awesome. She resembles... resembles someone I used to know very much..."

When she finished speaking, she turned to look at the arena.

The moment she turned, a shrewd gleam appeared in Aurora's eyes.

What a great show~ Young Saintess~

In the arena, Xing Mo pressed the tip of her wand against the Soul Cleaver's throat, looking at the astonishment in the eyes of the gray haired young girl.

The astonishment quickly dissipated, followed by overwhelming fatigue.

"I... I lost..."

Before Xing Mo could do anything, Aria collapsed to the ground, her body spasming slightly.

Xing Mo was startled. She immediately squatted down: "Are you okay? Are..."

She sensed something and opened her spiritual sense. When her eyes fell on Aria, she froze—

—Aria was covered in black aura.

It was a curse! She had been cursed!

Amidst the audience's cheers, Xing Mo picked up Aria and looked up at the nearby viewing stands.

She didn't look at Blackwood or Senior Alice, but at Aurora.

......

In the bar's backstage office, Blackwood took out a stack of parchment from a bookshelf.

He extracted one of them and slapped it on the desk: "Take it and see what happened to that wretch."

Alice picked up the parchment and waved her wand, and black and white scenes sprang up on the parchment.

As if newspaper cutouts pieced together, those scenes formed a series of vivid pictures.

First, Freyr Sunlight left the church and crossed the square.

Then, he entered a tailor's shop, where he took off his robes and changed into a fitting formal attire, and then covered himself in a loose robe.

Next, he boarded a carriage and went to the Southern District.

At this point, the pictures came to an end.

"Is that all?" Alice looked up and asked coldly.

"That guy is a five string Saint. Do you think he's easy to track?'' Blackwood looked as if he heard something funny.

According to the Citadel's official classification: starting from five strings, string players were called Saints; starting from seven strings, string players were called Demigods. Those who were at ten strings and above were Angels who personally served the Goddess.

The churches' bishops are at least at the Saint level. They are all powerful string players.

"It doesn't matter. At that time, there weren't many events that required a formal attire. This information is enough." Alice said coldly.

She turned around and found her two juniors squatting in a corner, feeding water to the loli called Aria.

That lass has fallen unconscious.

"If you want to take her as a trophy, then go ahead and take her." Blackwood spoke nonchalantly, "She is an orphan. She made me a lot of money in the arena, but it's over now."

"You demon." Xing Mo uttered without looking back.

Blackwood shrugged and said no more.

Hidden from his eyes, Aurora placed a hand on Aria's chest, and specks of green light flowed into her body and dispelled the black aura on her.

Aria's eyebrows were locked tightly, but her eyelashes trembled, as if she were having a dream.

"Don't worry." Aurora murmured softly, "Don't pray to the Goddess anymore. She won't save you."

"Let's go." Xing Mo stood up and glanced at Blackwood, "We're taking her along."

"I can help you find her a shelter." Alice spoke up, "It's already late. Won't it be a bother to go back to the dormitory at this hour? You can come to my place."

Xing Mo hesitated for a moment, then shifted her gaze: "It's fine. My sister and I will stay at a hotel. As for Aria, I will take care of her as well. I will take her to a shelter tomorrow morning."

"Senior, you helped me a lot tonight. I can't trouble you anymore..."

Xing Mo was afraid, afraid that if she stayed with Alice for a while, she won't be able to resist telling her everything. But that will only harm her.

She didn't want her very good sister to fall into such danger.

As she was thinking this, a hand landed on Xing Mo's head and gently rubbed her head.

Xing Mo, like a small critter, raised her head and met Alice's gentle eyes: "Thank you for your hard work, junior. You did great tonight."

Xing Mo stared blankly at Senior Alice's smile, and the corners of her mouth curved slightly: "Mhm."

......

When they were back on the streets of the Docklands, it was already eleven o'clock at night. The pale blue crescent moon covered the bungalows in the Docklands in a cold blue tone.

There were two carriages with a dandelion crest—that is the emblem of the Pushett Family—parked on the street. They were arranged by Alice.

Noble ladies favor this mode of transportation.

"Then, see you later."

Alice slapped the carriage's door and smiled at Xing Mo through the window: "Tell the coachman where you want to go. Don't worry about the cost."

"Okay. Thank you, Senior."

The carriage started along the bumpy street. Xing Mo looked out the window and saw Alice waving at her.

She looked at the swelling envelope in her hand—it not only contained money for a hotel, but also contained an introduction letter to place Aria in a shelter. She got the envelope from Alice.

The pitiful loli slept soundly. Without the sharpness she showed in the arena, she looked like an immature girl, curled up on the carriage seat.

"Did you break her curse?" Xing Mo asked Aurora.

"That was what you requested~ I don't mind doing you a little favor." Aurora smiled, "Young Saintess, you really like to meddle in other people's affairs~"

"She didn't deserve such a fate." Faced with Aurora's mockery, Xing Mo showed a stubborn side.

"Who deserves such a fate? In any case, it seems that your Goddess isn't properly watching over them, is she?"

As she spoke, Aurora looked out the window at the Dockland, at the huge chimneys erected along the coastline.

Xing Mo had nothing to say in reply.

After a brief silence, Aurora withdrew her gaze and looked at Xing Mo: "Speaking of which, where are we going to stay tonight? Will we rent a room using the money Senior gave you?"

"Of course not." Xing Mo sighed, "I have prepared a base."

She extended her finger and shook a bundle of keys—keys to Miriam's apartment.
