Chapter 673: When the Rain Continues
Inside Flat 606.
Sitting on a sofa, Brother Xiao sipped on his tea as he instructed calmly, “Yellowhead, make sure to be thorough when you clean up the flat.”
Holding onto his erotic novel, Yellowhead headed toward the toilet as he said, “Let Leopard handle it first. I need to take a shit.”
“You really are troublesome!” Leopard berated. “Hurry up!”
“Got it, got it!” Yellowhead replied as he closed the doors to the toilet.
…
Inside the Black Street Sector Police Bureau.
Liu Baochen anxiously charged into the call center as he asked anxiously, “When did you receive the call?”
“Around 15 minutes ago,” the police officer on duty replied.
“The caller gave us a very detailed location?”
“Yes, he gave us the exact address.” The police officer passed a piece of paper on the table over. “It’s all on here.”
Liu Baochen quickly scanned the information on the paper before dashing out of the call center. He quickly made a call and instructed, “Gather everyone on duty tonight at the backyard within five minutes. Hurry up and relay the instructions!”
…
Dirt Street.
Qin Yu had just dozed off a little after eating some food when the phone in his pocket suddenly rang.
“Hello, Brother Wei?” Qin Yu’s voice sounded a little drowsy. “What’s wrong?”
“You’re at Dirt Street now?”
“Where else can I be?”
“Don’t camp there anymore. Head over to Mapleforest Road’s Charity Apartments right now.”
“For what?” Qin Yu asked with a slightly more alert voice as he realized that something was up here.
“Liu Baochen said he received a tipoff that the culprits behind the murder case are currently at Mapleforest Road,” Zhu Wei said with a frown. “All of the brothers on shift tonight in the Police Bureau have been rallied, and they’re currently heading over to Charity Apartments.”
“Are you serious? Qin Yu was stunned. “Given how sharp those bunch of fixers are, how could they possibly let anyone catch wind of their tail so easily?”
“How would I know?” Zhu Wei grumbled back. “Anyway, Liu Baochen caused quite a huge ruckus due to that. He even requested a machine gun from the Logistics Department. It’s almost as if he lost his mum and is out for vengeance.”
“Alright, I got it. I’ll head there right away.”
“Hurry up, or else he’ll be raising a shitstorm again,” Zhu Wei said. “Meet you there.”
“Alright.”
After hanging up his phone, Qin Yu quickly sat upright and said, “Hell, stop sleeping! We’re setting off!”
Ding Guozhen, who had said that he was too excited to sleep a moment ago, confusedly wiped off the saliva dripping from the corner of his mouth as he asked, “W-where are we going?”
Qin Yu slapped Ding Guozhen’s shoulder and said, “Didn’t you say that you’re very excited? Hell, you slept like a baby!”
“… Oops.” Ding Guozhen scratched his head.
“Hurry up and drive to Mapleforest Road,” Qin Yu instructed.
“Bro, I don’t know where Mapleforest Road is!” Fu Xiaohao replied with a blank look.
“Get down, let’s swap seats. I’ll drive,” Qin Yu said as he got out of the car.
…
Fifteen minutes later.
Mapleforest Road’s Charity Apartments was located along the main road, making it highly accessible.
Liu Baochen picked up his walkie talkie and shouted into it, “Have you secured the back yet? Okay! Squad 1, send another two men over and send them over to scan the vicinity of Block 2. The suspects are currently in Flat 606, so check if the lights of the flat are on.”
“Copy that.”
“Copy that.”
“…!”
Responses sounded from the walkie-talkie.
Screech!
Qin Yu stopped the police patrol car in the alley next to the Charity Apartments before alighting with the two interns. The three of them quickly made them way over to Liu Baochen’s side.
“Is the news accurate?” Qin Yu asked.
Liu Baochen shot Qin Yu a glance before instructing impassively, “Take Squad 3 to change their equipment. You’ll be the assault force for this operation.”
Qin Yu was stunned to hear those words. “We’ll be taking the frontlines? Isn’t this job usually taken by Squad 1?”
“The enemies are gun smugglers, so they’re likely to be heavily armed,” Liu Baochen explained with a nonchalant tone. “We aren’t familiar with the layout of Charity Apartments, and there’s no saying that they might have rented more than one flat too. So, I got Squad 1 to camp at the back entrance to intercept them if needed.”
“In other words, we’ll be the ones risking our lives, right?”
“Qin Yu, we’re on an operation right now! You better watch your tone with me!” Liu Baochen glared at Qin Yu and hollered. “Are you going to do it or not? If you don’t want to, I can get another squad to do it!”
Qin Yu shot a chilling glare at Liu Baochen before he slowly took off his military coat and shouted to his men behind him, “Squad 3, gather beside the equipment truck now. Platoon Commander Liu has great expectations for us. He won’t be able to conduct this capture operation without us serving as the assault force!”
In less than two minutes, Qin Yu and his squad members quickly equipped themselves with a bomb suit, bulletproof vests, M464 assault rifles, military torches, smoke grenades, Halligan bars, and so on.
After they were all ready, a voice sounded on their walkie-talkie’s channel, “The lights to Flat 606 are open, and the curtains are open. I estimate there to be at least three people inside.”
Liu Baochen pondered for a moment before shouting into the walkie-talkie, “Squad 3, you’ll be taking the lead. Squad 1, camp at the back entrance and prepare to intercept. Squad 2 and Squad 4, stand by the stairway and prepare to reinforce Squad 3.”
“Go!”
Qin Yu ordered his men before he began making their way over to Block 2 with small but brisk footsteps. His body was leaned forward slightly, and a gun was held tightly in his hand. He was prepared to engage the enemy whenever required.
Behind him, Zhu Wei and Wun Sen led two separate teams, and they were advancing quickly in an orderly straight line too.
Half a minute later.
The squad finally arrived at the bottom of Block 2. Qin Yu took a look at the building in front of him before instructing his squad grimly, “It’s serious this time. The lights in the flat are on, and the curtains are drawn. It’s highly likely that we’ll face fixers with high firepower inside. Proceed carefully, and the veterans should try to take care of the younglings. On top of that, every team should ensure that there’s one person ready to reinforce the others at any moment.”
“Roger that.”
“Roger that.”
“…!”
The squad quickly acknowledged Qin Yu’s orders.
Liu Baochen’s voice howled through the walkie-talkie, “Qin Yu, why did you stop? Are you waiting for the enemy to spot you? Hurry up and enter!”
Qin Yu pulled out his ear mic, completely ignoring what Liu Baochen had to say. Then, he calmly turned to his squad members and said, “Let’s go!”
Guangdong!
The door to the building was opened, and Zhu Wei, who was wearing the bomb suit, charged it together with his team first.
Thirty seconds later.
The group arrived on the sixth floor. Qin Yu was standing right in front of Flat 606. He shot a glance at his left and saw a huge pile of trash filled with used daily necessities by the stairway.
“Enter.”
Qin Yu stood aside and squatted by the right side of the door.
Wun Sen, who was holding onto an assault rifle, aimed his weapon at the lock and fired decisively.
Bang!
With a loud gunshot mixed with the scent of gunpowder, a hole was blasted into the door’s lock.
Guangdong!
Qin Yu pushed the door open before charging right in.
Shoosh!
Zhu Wei also fired at the ceiling light as soon as he could, and the teammates behind him quickly switched off their flashlights too.
“A person, armed, in the kitchen!”
Ding Guozhen exclaimed as he sweated profusely.
