Special District 9 Chapter 153: Young Master Wu’s Exciting Night

Wu Yao was the son of a senator of the Jiangnan Sector Council.

To explain the responsibilities and authority of Sector Council Senators, one would have to first understand that Special District 9 had a different governance structure from Special District 7 and 8 due to its autonomy. While there were mayors for each of the three cities within Special District 9, there were no individual heads for each of the sectors under them.

The ones who were responsible for maintaining order for each sector were the Police Bureaus, such as the Black Street Sector Police Bureau and the Jiangnan Sector Police Bureau. On the other hand, the ones who were responsible for social policies for the populace were the Sector Councils.

Each Sector Council would have a few Chief Senators, who were responsible for bringing matters relating to their sector up to the City Legislative Council. These matters would be voted upon by the senators in order to determine whether to push ahead with proposed policies.

There were mainly two ways how Chief Senators could be chosen—they were either appointed by the government and elected by popular vote within their respective sectors. Wu Yao’s father, Wu Wensheng, was a Chief Senator chosen by popular vote in Jiangnan Sector.

From this, it could be seen that the Wu Family had great influence in Jiangnan Sector. It was for this reason that Yuan Ke insisted on having Baldie introduce Wu Yao to him. Unlike Yuan Hua, he was reluctant to limit his scope within just Black Street Sector. He wanted to set his eyes on the larger world out there.

So, Yuan Ke made use of Baldie’s connections to rope in four young lads with prestigious backgrounds within Songjiang, hoping to collaborate with them to expand the medicine business.

Nighttime.

Yuan Ke didn’t see the other three new friends he had made around. He was meeting just Wu Yao.

Inside the Majestic Palace Entertainment City, a bunch of bar hostesses were drinking and chatting with the henchmen while Yuan Ke was sitting on the innermost sofa, chatting with Wu Yao with a warm smile on his lips, “How is it, Little Wu? Do you want to join us in the medicine trade?”

Wu Yao scratched his exceedingly conspicuous red hair as he replied with a question, “Tell me the truth. Are you intending on bringing us under you?”

“Hahaha!” Yuan Ke laughed at that question.

“What are you laughing for? Relax, we aren’t those old fogeys who spout all sorts of courteous speech over wine. As young folks, let’s take it easy and chat leisurely,” Wu Yao said casually. “Be honest with me. Are you intending to have us as partners or subordinates?”

Yuan Ke pondered for a moment before saying, “Little Wu, can you answer a question of mine first?”

“Go ahead.”

“In your eyes, is profit more important or standing more important?” Yuan Ke asked.

Wu Yao blinked in surprise at the question for a moment before replying unhesitatingly, “As businessmen, it goes without saying that profits come first.”

“Since that’s the case, does it matter whether we’re partnering together or working for the other?” Yuan Ke replied with a smile. “What’s more important is the profits that I can potentially bring to you. I won’t interfere in the operations of your company. All I’ll do is to release my goods to you and set a sales target every month. Feel the money that will be in your pockets three months later; we’ll talk more about it then.”

“Sounds fine to me,” Wu Yao pondered for a long while before nodding decisively.

“If you’re still hesitant to put your money on my goods, I can release a small portion of it to you first. You can pay for the goods after you sell them.” Yuan Ke offered a very attractive offer to Wu Yao.

Wu Yao was surprised by the offer that Yuan Ke was giving him. “Won’t those in your company complain about it if you do such a thing?”

“I’ll be paying for your share with my own money, what do they have to complain about?” Yuan Ke replied generously.

“Just on that itself, I’ll play around with you then!” Wu Yao replied heartily.

“Come, cheers.”

“Cheers!”

The two of them raised their cups and gulped it down.

Having settled the discussions, those in the room downed their drinks and quickly got high on alcohol. Wu Yao didn’t smoke or gamble, but he had a vice known as lust. He loved fooling around, having gone to the extent of inventing many games to play in night entertainment venues.

“Hey hey, quieten down for a moment. Let’s play a game!” Wu Yao shouted, silencing the room swiftly.

“What are we going to play?”

“Picking Out the Dragons.”

“What is Picking Out the Dragons?” Yuan Ke was someone who was very career-minded. He had often come to such places for social gatherings, but he rarely paid any heed to the games that people played here.

“Simple.” Wu Yao began explaining with an excited edge in his voice. “We’ll be turning off the lights later, and one of the girls here will take off her bra and pass it to the person on her left. She’ll turn around and close her eyes while we pass her bra counterclockwise. This will continue till she finally shouts stop, and the person holding her bra will step out. We’ll do it once more to select another person, and those two people will be doing it tonight.”

Yuan Ke was shocked, “Right here?”

“Fuck, of course not! Who would play that big of a bet? Just the toilet will do,” Wu Yao said. He turned to Yuan Ke and raised his eyebrows playfully. “How is it? Exciting, eh?”

Hearing that, Yuan Ke was finally able to put his mind at ease. He nodded with a smile, “Yeah, sounds pretty exciting. Let’s do it then.”

“Come come come, let’s begin,” Wu Yao said as he rubbed his palms together.

“Oh ho, Brother Wu. Don’t you think that the proportion of guys here is a little lacking? Shall I get a few more guys here?” one of the henchmen asked.

“Un, go ahead,” Wu Yao said with a wave of his hand. “Get two good-looking ones.”

Those words made Yuan Ke chuckle a little. “You sure are considerate for the girls, choosing the better-looking ones for them.”

For some reason, the hostesses in the room smiled knowingly amongst themselves upon hearing those words. One of them winked at Yuan Ke and explained, “Brother Yuan, the pairs are selected at random. It could a guy-girl pair… but it could also be a guy-guy pair too!

Yuan Ke’s expression stiffened. “W… What do you mean?”

“You don’t get it? It means that we could be the ones going into the toilet together!” Wu Yao replied. “Hey, who brought lotion here? Give Brother Yuan over here one bottle!”

“What the fuck!” Yuan Ke immediately leaped up in rejection. “No way, I can’t accept that. You guys can play by yourselves.”

“Hahaha!”

A burst of laughter broke out amongst the crowd. The lady that was accompanying Yuan Ke turned to him and said, “He’s just joking with you. The guys are for Brother Wu. If a pair of guys are really chosen in the game and they aren’t willing to have a go, they can make it up with a bottle of wine instead.

“I-I see. Then I guess it’s fine,” Yuan Ke heaved a sigh of relief as he got back to his seat.

Around three hours later, the gathering finally came to an end. Everyone was dead drunk by then. Yuan Ke saw with his own eyes Wu Yao leaving with his hands wrapped around and a guy and a girl. More importantly, he really got a bottle of lotion from the front desk.

“That sicko.” Yuan Ke gazed at Wu Yao’s car in abhorrence before puking by the side.

The following morning, in the Police Bureau.

Qin Yu had just gotten to work when he heard Zhu Wei and a few others chatting in the common working space.

“There’s no doubt about it, the culprit is definitely Wu Yao!”

“I also think that the old man wasn’t lying.”

“Hey, Brother Wei, have you heard?” It seems like Wu Yao has been quite close with Yuan Ke recently. There are rumors going around that their companies are going to work together.”

“…!”

Qin Yu was intending to head to the dormitory room to change into his uniform when he heard the discussions of the group. He immediately walked over and asked, “What was it about Yuan Ke?”

Zhu Wei turned over and asked, “You’re here?”

“Yeah. What were you all talking about earlier?” Qin Yu asked.

“We were saying that the most likely suspect behind that missing son case is Wu Yao, and that there are rumors that Wu Yao has been quite close with Yuan Ke recently,” Zhu Wei replied.

Qin Yu pondered for a moment before asking, “Are you certain that this case has something to do with him?”

“I told you that it’s an ‘open case’ yesterday,” Zhu Wei said, basing it on his many years of experience as a police officer. “If the one who went missing was a superintendent or the daughter of a commissioner or something, Wu Yao would have been long caught by now!”

Qin Yu mulled over Zhu Wei’s words before instructing, “I’ll be changing my clothes. Hand me the details of the case later on, let’s look into this Wu Yao together.”

“Is it because you heard that Yuan Ke is going to work together with him?” Zhu Wei asked with a sneaky look on his face.

“Yes yes, smart guy,” Qin Yu replied casually before leaving the area.

Meanwhile.

Brother Xiao was lying on his sofa, holding a phone in his right hand as he asked, “Are you sure that he has already managed to release the goods?”

“Yes, the goods have already been out for a few days, but he still hasn’t paid us yet,” the person on the other end of the phone replied.
