Special District 9 Chapter 151: Dawn of a New Dynasty in the Yuan Family

Ever since Zhang Tian’s bitter death, Baldie hadn’t been able to get himself interested in anything that was happening within the company. The glorious subject who had paved the way for the rise of a new leader seemed to have suddenly lost his fighting will. Whenever anyone sought his opinion for something, Baldie would always respond unenthusiastically, “I’m not feeling well recently. If there are any issues, you should consult Yuan Ke. Go on with it if he agrees with it, or else continue negotiating with him.”

Baldie’s attitude had given Yuan Ke a golden opportunity to develop his own influence. With Zhang Tian’s death, Baldie became the only backbone that unified the veteran faction together. So, if even Baldie had washed his hands from the affairs of the company, it would be incredibly difficult for the veteran faction to band together and do something even if they had any ideas in mind.

Yuan Ke welcomed such a situation. With the veterans incapable of opposing the changes he was implementing, he was able to effect swift and significant changes within the company. He severed the inefficiencies within the organization with surgical precision and restructured the old business model. With the changes he implemented, he was able to restore the operations of the medicine route within just three months.

Most of those working for him were also new faces who had been newly recruited into the organization.

Had Zhang Tian not died and Baldie not stepped back, Yuan Ke’s actions would have surely brought about great backlash from the veterans. However, with one of them dead and the other one showing a lack of concern about the company, the veterans found themselves feeling utterly unconfident about standing against Yuan Ke. They felt like a horrible plight could befall them if they were to step forward at a time like this.

As such, they could only watch helplessly as Yuan Ke brought about great changes within the company.

Inside a compartment in the Majestic Palace Entertainment City.

Yuan Ke sat on a sofa as he smiled at the crowd standing before him and said, “I’ll give you a heads up in advance. In tomorrow’s company meeting, I’ll be pushing forth a new profit distribution scheme.

“In the future, the bonuses that each managerial level employee receives will no longer be decided by the main company. Instead, I’ll be giving you the freedom to manage the subsidiary companies under you as you like, and the main company will only be setting monthly sales targets. The higher your sales, the more goods you will be distributed with the following month.

“Other than that, the company will also be setting fixed medicine prices for all subsidiary companies, and the prices will be adjusted flexibly according to the market conditions. You’re expected to pay the price of the goods in full when you receive them, and you’re free to distribute any profits you earned as you wish.”

“That sounds good!”

“Yes, that would make it much easier to maneuver around! Our subordinates will also be more driven to do well since they’ll be rewarded for their diligence.”

“It makes more sense to implement such a system! It goes without saying that different regions will have different levels of demand. The previous model, where the company sets a fixed price for the medicine and bonuses are determined based on how many goods each subsidiary company manages to sell, is just unfair. Take those in charge of Dirt Street for example, even if they do nothing at all, they’ll still be able to get the first place every month. On the other hand, no matter how hard those in other regions work, they still end up earning much less!”

“…!”

Upon hearing Yuan Ke’s words, the bunch of newcomers expressed their fervent agreement toward the proposed changes.

Baldie sat on another sofa as he looked at Yuan Ke quietly, showing no indications of speaking up at all.

On the other hand, Xiao Jiu took a sip of water before remarking under his breath, “I always thought that Little Yuan doesn’t have a deep understanding of the situation in the company, but the strategies that he came up with after taking over are very reasonable and effective.”

Baldie still didn’t say anything at all.

“Perhaps, it might be good that he’s taking over,” Xiao Jiu turned to Baldie and said. “It’s worth supporting such a boss to power.”

On the other hand, Baldie simply yawned and said, “You can discuss the matters regarding the company amongst yourselves. My friend will be coming over soon for a game, so I’ll be heading back first.”

“Baldie, what’s with you? Everyone in the company is currently riled up and determined to push on, so why do you look so listless?” Xiao Jiu asked a question that he already knew the answer to.

Baldie turned to Xiao Jiu and replied, “Zhang Tian was an eyesore, so he was killed. Now that he’s dead, who is the eyesore now?”

Xiao Jiu pressed his lips together before saying, “I think that…”

“I think that things are fine as it is now. Really,” Baldie replied with a slight smile. He raised the wine glass in his hand and said, “Come, let’s have a drink.”

It was then that Yuan Ke suddenly sat over and asked Baldie with a smile, “Bro, let’s have a gathering tonight and have fun together!”

“There’s nothing fun for me to hang out with a bunch of youngsters,” Baldie replied. “I’m heading home soon.”

“Alright, let’s gather another time then.” Yuan Ke didn’t insist on the matter. Instead, he asked with a teasing tone, “Say, the Four Heavenly Kings whom you were going to introduce me to, when do you think we can meet up and have a talk?”

“What Four Heavenly Kings?” Baldie was a little confused.

“The four people whom I’m intending to rope into the company.”

“Ah, you’re talking about them.” Baldie nodded in realization. “I’ve already given them a call. They should be arriving in a moment’s time.”

“That’s great. You must make sure to introduce them to me later on!”

“Sure. I’ll introduce them to you, but the rest is up to you.”

“No problem!”

While the two of them were talking, a red-haired young man walked in with a group of eight people. “Brother Baldie! It has been long since we last met!”

“Ah, Little Wu! Come here, come here!” Baldie pushed against the sofa and stood up as he beckoned the red-haired young man over with a bright smile on his face. “Come, let me introduce you to my new boss!”

“Haha! I’m Brother Baldie’s lil’ bro, Yuan Ke.”

“Yes yes, it’s a pleasure to meet you!” The red-haired young man walked forward and shook Yuan Ke’s hand. “I’m Wu Yao from the Jiangnan Sector.”

“Come, have a seat!” Baldie said as he pulled Wu Yao over to sit between him and Yuan Ke.

Shortly after the three of them sat down and began chatting, yet another three more notable figures on Songjiang’s streets arrived at the scene. One thing in common about them was that they were all very young, having made their name in the streets not too long ago.

Baldie introduced them one by one to Yuan Ke. Barely twenty minutes later, he made up an excuse and left the scene. On the other hand, however, Xiao Jiu chose to remain and help Yuan Ke entertain the guests.

A week flashed by in an instant.

Qin Yu was sitting in the common working space, dealing with an old man who had come by to report a case when Liu Baochen suddenly barged in with a livid look on his face.

“Qin Yu, you get your bloody ass out here!” Liu Baochen bellowed furiously by the entrance.

Every single police officer that was currently in the common working space immediately turned their heads over in bewilderment. For a platoon commander to shout at his vice platoon commander publicly, this sure was a rare sight.

Qin Yu raised his head and looked at Liu Baochen with narrowed eyes, saying, “Platoon Commander Liu, you better watch your tone when you speak to me. I’m a civil servant working for the government, not a dog whom you can shout at as and when you like!”

Liu Baochen immediately lost himself upon hearing those words, He stomped forward and grabbed Qin Yu’s collar, shouting, “Come out right now!”

Pah!

Qin Yu coldly smacked Liu Baochen’s hand away before shouting to the others, “Get back to your work! Zhu Wei, I’ll entrust this gramps to you.”

“No problem,” Zhu Wei replied with a nod.

After settling the issues here, Qin Yu finally walked out of the working space together with Liu Baochen.

A few minutes later, by an empty stairway, a red-eyed Liu Baochen hurled a fist toward Qin Yu’s face, cursing, “You fucking brat! You laid a trap for me?”

Pak!

Qin Yu grabbed Liu Baochen’s by his wrist and replied, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“You despicable son of a bitch! You were the one who intentionally arranged for Old Zhang to hand me 10,000 dollars, right?” Liu Baochen was really agitated at the moment. “You even got him to report me to the Internal Affairs Department under the account of bribery. Fucker, you sure know how to play dirty!”

Qin Yu looked at Liu Baochen for a moment before replying with a cold sneer, “Who do you think was the one who started this? You were the one who fired the first shot, but you’re complaining about it to me now?”

“You piece of shit!” Liu Baochen bellowed as he hurled yet another fist over.

Peng!

Qin Yu raised his knees and struck Liu Baochen squarely in his abdomen. Then, he pressed the latter’s neck downward and scoffed, “There are only the two of us here. You think that I’ll allow you to put on airs before me here? If you can’t afford to play with me, don’t jump in. If you’re afraid of getting beaten up, don’t make a move. Get it?”
