Water dripped from Song Yingshi and Huai Xu's lips, most of it soaking into the collars of their clothes.
As the two shared their second passionate kiss, light began to seep from the horizon. It was almost 5 AM, and the day was about to break.
Huai Xu pulled back slightly, recalling that she had something important she needed to ask Song Yingshi. Softly, she called, "Song Yingshi."
Song Yingshi was still breathing heavily, but a sharp glint appeared in her eyes as she said provocatively, "What? Didn't you just say I talk too much?"
"How can such soft lips be so capable of talking?" Huai Xu chuckled. Without waiting for Song Yingshi to fight back, she gently brushed Song Yingshi's ruffled hair aside, looking directly into Song Yingshi's eyes as she asked, "Song Yingshi, why did you kiss me on stage?"
"Why do you have so many whys? I just did it because I wanted to," Song Yingshi said, pushing herself away from the window and straightening her posture. "I've long since wanted to do something like that, and it felt pretty good once I did it."
"Really?" Huai Xu asked, her voice softening.
Instead of answering Huai Xu's question, Song Yingshi rubbed the back of her head and said, "No more kissing? Then, I'm going to sleep."
After saying so, Song Yingshi licked her lips in a teasing manner. However, she quickly restrained herself when she saw Huai Xu's upset look, and her eyes cleared up as she said, "I just felt like…I really like you."
Song Yingshi was once asked in an interview how she would confess her love if the day ever came. At the time, she answered, without hesitation, that it would be a solemn and ritualistic event, and a tripod camera was a must to commemorate the moment. This was her general understanding of romance, formed from TV shows and daily observations.
Another reason was that Song Yingshi always felt the words "I like you" and "I love you" were special and significant. To utter them in a setting that lacked sufficient gravitas would diminish their value.
Yet now, despite none of her mentioned requirements being present, these words spilled from her mouth naturally. So naturally, she didn't even realize she had said them.
But it wasn't a bad feeling.
The sunrise still wasn't bright enough, so Song Yingshi couldn't discern Huai Xu's subtle expressions. Despite their proximity, it was as if an ocean separated them. She could only catch a glimpse of Huai Xu's emotional fluctuations through her tone.
"Is this a confession?" Huai Xu asked briefly and quickly, as if afraid she might reveal something. Unfortunately for her, her voice had already revealed everything.
Song Yingshi once again realized that tonight—no, before this sunrise—she wasn't the only one who had lost her composure.
For some inexplicable reason, Song Yingshi found solace in this discovery. As bits of laughter escaped her mouth, she replied, "Huai Xu, these are my true feelings."
Song Yingshi's tone was light but earnest.
In all honesty, even Song Yingshi had trouble pinpointing what exactly had motivated her to confess.
When Tao Qin told her that Huai Xu had long since admitted to liking her, Song Yingshi promptly inferred that Huai Xu had slowly confirmed her feelings for her over a much longer period than she had ever imagined. After all, given Huai Xu's cautious and rational nature, she would never have liked her on an impulse back when they still maintained a questionable relationship.
In other words, Song Yingshi had missed out on far more opportunities—over a much longer period—than she imagined. How many times had Huai Xu secretly glanced at her? How many times had Huai Xu's heart fluttered for her? How many times had Huai Xu quietly endured? It must've been arduous to like someone this way. It was like performing a solo without an audience, where the climax and curtain call belonged only to oneself.
Song Yingsh's heart ached for Huai Xu.
However, Song Yingshi knew "Instructor Huai" valued her pride, so she considerately omitted these details and gave a concise but sincere answer…
Song Yingshi took a step closer, fumbled for Huai Xu's lowered hand, placed it over her heart, and said, "Some might use confessions to deceive, but I won't.
"Shall we watch the sunrise together?"
…
At 1.45 PM, June 15th, Song Yingshi was awakened by her rumbling stomach. Her mind was still a blank slate when her eyes fluttered open, proving the fact that all-nighters made one stupid.
After staring at the ceiling for a while, Song Yingshi finally managed to determine the year, date, and time of day.
Song Yingshi only fell asleep around six in the morning. Despite having slept close to eight hours, she still hadn't fully recovered from her physically and mentally exhausting day the previous day.
Screw it. I'll stay hungry, Song Yingshi thought as she wrapped herself in her blanket, ready to drift back to sleep.
However, just as Song Yingshi was making her way back to slumberland, a thought suddenly came to her, causing her eyes to snap open.
Wait, is Huai Xu up yet?
Song Yingshi struggled out of her bed and shuffled out of her room. As she stood at the door, she saw that the door across the hallway was tightly shut, and she didn't hear any sound coming from upstairs.
Good, she's still asleep.
This discovery invigorated Song Yingshi. Immediately, she returned to her room, brushed her teeth, and ordered groceries to be delivered. She was determined to wake up earlier than Huai Xu today and take care of everything nicely to reclaim the dignity she had lost the previous night — or rather, this morning.
This morning, after Song Yingshi invited Huai Xu to watch the sunrise, they had indeed watched it seriously at first. However, the situation quickly spiraled out of control.
If Song Yingshi hadn't pushed Huai Xu's hand away in time, she genuinely had no idea how far their relationship would've progressed today.
After all, Instructor Huai was too captivating. How could anyone resist her advances when she wore a blush on that beautiful face of hers?
To avoid further incidents, Song Yingshi promptly suggested they call it a day and retire to their respective rooms.
However, Huai Xu refused to give up, dragging Song Yingshi toward her room. Meanwhile, Song Yingshi, for reasons unknown to even herself, went along without resistance.
Once they were in her room, Huai Xu asked, "Dare to stay?"
At the time, Song Yingshi was already utterly exhausted and didn't think that anything would happen. Not to mention, Huai Xu was physically much weaker. If she was already on the verge of collapse, Huai Xu shouldn't be far from it either.
Thus, Song Yingshi replied provocatively, "I technically own this bed, so why wouldn't I dare?" I can sleep wherever I want.
Upon hearing Song Yingshi's answer, Huai Xu nodded in satisfaction, saying, "Wait for me."
Song Yingshi: ?
I'm waiting for the bathroom, not a woman, thank you very much, Song Yingshi retorted mentally.
While Huai Xu went to wash up, Song Yingshi collapsed onto the bed, feeling like a corpse on the verge of being buried. As the sound of trickling water entered her ears, her eyelids grew heavier and heavier.
After lying there for two minutes, Song Yingshi felt that she could fall asleep at any second, so she decided to head over to her room next door for a quick shower. Then, after brushing her teeth with her eyes closed, she dragged her tired body back to Huai Xu's room.
Since Huai Xu wanted to sleep in the same bed, so be it. All Song Yingshi wanted was a bed to sleep on; she was too tired to care whether a person was sleeping beside her.
But at the same time, Song Yingshi was aware of Huai Xu's hidden thoughts—Huai Xu likely anticipated her chickening out or giving in to temptation. Either way, Huai Xu had everything to gain and nothing to lose.
Thinking about it this way, Song Yingshi couldn't help but feel a bit annoyed. Hence, she decided she would make both of Huai Xu's assumptions fall short. Not only was she going to refuse to engage in lovemaking, but she was also determined to claim half the bed for herself, ensuring zero physical contact throughout their slumber.
When Song Yingshi returned to Huai Xu's room and closed the door behind her, Huai Xu had already finished showering and was sitting on the bed.
Song Yingshi composed herself, stifling a yawn as she said, "I'm dead tired. Let's hurry up and sleep."
After saying so, Song Yingshi noticed some…familiar items laid out on the bed—
"What…are these things?!" Song Yingshi exclaimed, her eyes widening.
Huai Xu followed Song Yingshi's gaze, scanning the items on the bed and smiling, "Don't you recognize them? These are the…daily necessities that you gave me."
While saying so, Huai Xu picked up one of the items and considerately read its product description to Song Yingshi, "This is a wireless, remote app-controlled, powerful vibrat—"
"Alright, stop reading. I remember now," Song Yingshi cut Huai Xu off with a strained face.
How would your fans react if they knew you were using their "heavenly voice" to read the names of these little toys?
"So you remember them." While unboxing one of the items with her slender fingers, Huai Xu said thoughtfully, "You couldn't use them in the White Tower, but now that you're home, you should be able to use them, right? Shall I wash them for you?"
Song Yingshi: "..."
I think you'd rather help me use them!
