I'll Still Love You Tomorrow Chapter 19: Baby Yan is Sick

“Mmh.” She replied sickly, sniffling as she added, “I wanted to visit you but my cold is quite serious, I don’t want to pass it to you.”

Probably due to the cold, she felt restless and her voice was soft.

It seemed as though she was seeking comfort.

Sheng Xian swallowed lightly.

He wasn’t a nosy person and was a man of few words.

Under normal circumstances, if he didn’t think there was anything more to say during a call, he would hang up.

But now, he was at a loss for words but he didn’t hang up.

There was a long moment of silence. Lu Jingyan was the one to break the silence, “Brother, I’m going to sleep for a few, if there’s nothing else, I’m going to hang up.”

“Mmh.” He replied softly. After a few seconds, he removed the phone from his ear and locked it.

That afternoon, Lu Jingyan slept in her office under a blanket. When she woke up, her fever had subsided, and was much better aside from her stuffy nose.

She pressed down on the table and stood up, and saw that there were hundreds of messages on her WeChat.

It was mainly from the chat group with Song Xian and Chen Kai.

Lu Jingyan quickly scanned the messages, and realized it was Chen Kai’s birthday.

Chen Kai was a sassy man that prioritized rituals more than women. Aside from the traditional festivals, Chen Kai valued his birthday party the most.

He started to prepare two months earlier.

Lu Jingyan had been silent the entire day and worried she had forgotten the party date, Chen kai had spammed the chat with reminders.

Fortunately, as Chen Kai had been harping on his birthday party for two months, Lu Jingyan had already gotten him a present, and had kept it in her office. In the face of his tirade, she replied with “I’m coming now.” She touched up her makeup in the washroom, grabbed the gift and started towards the party.

There weren’t many people at the party yet, only Song Xian, Chen Kai and the close friends he would always hang out with.

Chen Kai was a grown man but the venue decoration was very feminine, there were fresh flowers, balloons in a light blue and white theme.

The most outrageous part was that he had ordered himself a car his birthday half a year ago, and last month when the car arrived at the 4S shop, he refused to collect it, insisting that the shop drive the transparent car with music, flashing pink lights and the banner , ‘Wishing Chen Kai a happy 27th birthday”, to his birthday venue.

The 4S shop was half a city away from his party venue. He wanted it to be so high profile the entire city knew it was his birthday.

It was a Friday and the last working day of the week, Chen Kai probably wanted to go all out. He didn’t invite his parents or other elder members, only the friends he hung out with.

Chen Kai did investment and had a wide social circle that included people from the entertainment industry, esports and even internet influencers.

There was a wide range of people invited to the party, there were obscure celebrities, famous internet influencers and even a professional esport player that once went viral.

Lu Jingyan is considered one of Chen Kai’s closest friends, they have known each other since young due to family connections. But even then, Lu Jingyan barely knew a third of the people at the party.

Once the crowd became bigger, Lu Jingyan became colder, she wouldn’t bother with the people she didn’t know and wouldn’t even be that willing to talk with people that she knew, who had come forward to greet her.

Chen Kai was prepared for everyone to go all out, Lu Jingyan couldn’t find water in the entire venue.

Instead, there were all sorts of alcohol of varying alcohol content, from whiskies to cocktails.

There was a wide variety.

Lu Jingyan was a regular clubber, even though she was sick, she still drank a lot.

Halfway through, she started to feel a splitting headache, either from the alcohol or her worsened flu.

Chen Kai was a social butterfly, when he flew over to her side, and saw that she was leaning on the sofa with a pillow in her arms, he asked, “Darling, what’s wrong?”

Lu Jingyan glanced up at him, not willing to say much, “Nothing.”

“Why is your voice so husky? Do you have a cold?” Chen Kai reached out to feel her forehead, “It’s a little warm.”

“Why didn’t you tell me you’re sick?” Chen Kai placed his wine glass on the table and reached for her elbow, “Let’s go, brother will bring you to the hospital.”

Lu Jingyan removed her arm from his grasp, “I’m not going, it’s just a small cold, nothing serious.”

“I’ll get you some medicine.” Chen Kai took out his phone.

Right at that moment, his phone rang, “Mmh? Cousin?”

The restless Lu Jingyan turned towards him.

The venue was too noisy for her to hear the conversation.

But it was definitely a short conversation, after a few seconds, Chen Kai asked, “Are you coming over? I’ll send you the address.”
