`Tai Ren quickly realised this and his eyes burned with shame and anger.

“I’ll kill you!”

****

It was known to all cultivators that battles were not only the best way to increase one’s cultivation; it was also the best way to refine one’s techniques.

Of course, this was easier said than done. During a battle when one’s life was on the line, a single mistake could spell disaster.

After all, who would hold themselves back during a battle of life and death!?

However, this was exactly what Long Di was doing at the moment. Lightning danced along the length of his sabre as he continuously unleashed blow after blow at his opponent.

Tai Ren felt suffocated and incomparably angry! This human brat before him wasn’t allowing him any breathing space to retaliate!

Apparently, Long Di realised that Tai Ren needed a bit of time to use his abilities to manipulate the surrounding earth, which is why he was so relentless in his attacks!

‘There!’

Tai Ren saw an opening in Long Di’s chain of attacks and exploited it!

Bang!

An earthen fist landed on Long Di’s chest, sending him flying away!

“Ack!”

A mouthful of blood erupted from Long Di’s mouth. That last blow caused the blood inside his body to flip!

When he finally landed, he took a knee for a breather as he kept an eye on the enemy before him.

Tai Ren was surprised that Long Di’s injuries were so light. He had been accumulating energy during that last sequence of attacks and he unleashed all that he had stored in one blow. He was expecting bone-breaking injuries at the very least, but it looked like Long Di was only shaken.

The ten cauldrons that spun behind Tai Ren finally entered Long Di’s eyes.

“High-grade cauldrons?”

This meant that this Tai Ren wasn’t a normal character. For him to forge ten high-grade cauldrons meant that he had access to massive amounts of resources. Moreover, he was also a Three-Star Core Martial Master, he was a level above Long Di.

It was no wonder that his physical body was able to bear so many of Long Di’s attacks. This was a demon, one who focused solely on body cultivation. The pressure that he emanated was somatic in nature.

It made sense that Long Di was having trouble penetrating his defences. As a matter of fact, it was surprising that Long Di was able to perform the way he had against Tai Ren when all he had received from Uncle Tian Lu was the basic Marrow Chapter.

It showed just how extraordinary the Foundation Forge Body Tempering Art was!

“Tell you what, if you give me the girl; I will leave without further issues.” Tai Ren was surprised that Long Di was so hard to kill.

Based on his estimations, his body should be far above Long Di’s in terms of quality. However, Long Di had surpassed his expectations.

As much as he wanted to kill Long Di, the Nymph came first. If anything, he could always come back and kill Long Di later.

However, Long Di only raised his sabre, using action to answer Tai Ren’s request!

Tai Ren was enraged! He was trying to give this human a way out and he spat it back in his face!

“Since you want to die so badly, I’ll help to send you on your way! Landfall!”

He placed both his hands on the ground and the lines on his body released a dim light.

Long Di wasn’t going to give him time to execute this attack. With the sabre in hand, he shot towards Tai Ren to strike him down before he could do what he wanted.

At this, Long Di had to thank Uncle Tian Lu for the upgrade to his base strength with the Marrow Chapter.

Without it, he wouldn’t be able to use this sabre the way that he had. Even though he had to use the spiritual essence in his body to help augment his strength along with what the Marrow Chapter granted him, it at least made the use of the sabre feasible in battle.

In addition to the Marrow Chapter, the reason why he was able to give Tai Ren so much trouble despite possessing a lower cultivation base, was because the speed and efficiency at which he circulated his spiritual essence far outclassed Tai Ren on account of his black cauldrons.

Combined with the suppression that his black cauldrons naturally exuded, it made sense that Tai Ren was having as much trouble as he did. In truth, this suppression even existed when he fought with the multiple figures in the forest back then, but because he was being dragged down drastically by the weighted armament he wore, this advantage naturally disappeared.

Rumble!

As he made his way to Tai Ren, the ground started to shake all around when suddenly, the land around Long Di sank a few hundred metres in an instant!

Long Di was unable to do anything with this. This depth was not something he was able to clear with a single jump.

At the sight of this, Tai Ren released a sneer. “Now die for me!”

He closed the opening at the top of the pit up, and using his control over the earth, compelled the section that covered the pit to descend towards Long Di, intending to crush him into paste!

“Destiny Scale, I choose you!”

Long Di threw out the Destiny Scale like a discount pokemon so he could regain the use of the much more destructive tribulation lightning.

The only problem was that the divine nature of this lightning was something that needed time to build. However, he didn’t need all of it, just enough to execute a certain attack.

Before anything else, the ceiling came down with a crash! When it landed on the Destiny Scale, its descent actually paused!

When Long Di saw this, he breathed a sigh of relief and circulated his cultivation technique to its absolute limit to prepare himself.

Crack!

Suddenly, a creaking sound echoed out that jolted Long Di from his cultivation state. He looked to the Destiny Scale in a hurry and could see where the ground under the Destiny Scale and the area above it that held the descending earthen wall in place had multiple cracks!

“Crap!”

Long Di was aware that the ground below him was hardened to obscene levels. This was to make sure that he would be crushed, and not just comfortably pushed into the dirt. However, the indestructible nature of the Destiny Scale exceeded the hardness of the walls, and as such, it stopped the descent of the ceiling.

But the force that drove the ceiling exceeded its hardness, and as such, the Destiny Scale was being pushed down into the ground while it was also piercing the descending ceiling.

Long Di saw this and immediately shot to his feet and tried to hold the falling wall aloft to keep it from crushing him. Veins appeared on his forehead and arms as he strained to keep it in place.

Even his bones began to creak under the strain. Obviously, if he had not practised the Marrow Chapter, his bones would have already shattered and he would have been crushed already.

Nonetheless, whilst it had indeed slowed down, it was still descending. There was nothing in Long Di’s arsenal that he could use to stop this or escape!

Dum!

“Hm?”

Long Di realised that the descent had stopped! Something must have happened to stop Tai Ren from driving this ability.

“The elders!”

Long Di quickly deduced that it was most likely the elders that were fighting at the moment to distract Tai Ren. That was the only explanation, but he didn’t know how long they could hold out!

He didn’t waste any time. He immediately sat down and circulated his cultivation technique as hard as he could. He was sure that time was of the essence and he couldn’t afford to waste it!
