Nevertheless, he neither cared for their opinions nor their thoughts. All he cared about was taking the prizes from this place and the golden keys within.

“Wait for me Shen Ling. I‘ll get to you soon enough. Mooks and cannon fodders be damned.”

As soon as Long Di stepped through the doorway, he came to a serene land of nature.

A massive plain was laid before him, green grass carpeted it for as far as the eyes could see. A river cut through it that meandered through the mountains in the distance before it disappeared from sight.

He took a deep breath and he could feel his pores opening up as a black liquid with a pungent smell collected on his skin.

“Body toxins?”

Long Di was surprised by this, as it seemed the toxins that were hidden deep within his body were forced out through his pores.

Toxins were built up in the body as a side effect of numerous actions. For cultivators, the most common cause was the ingestion of a large volume of pills.

There were other causes as well, such as the consumption of certain medicinal or spiritual herbs. Only those of a special constitution such as the Nymphs could eat certain spiritual herbs without fear of building up toxins, but this was only for spiritual herbs, not the pills made from them.

Cultivation was a major contribution, too. The ambient spiritual energy contained impurities as well, which is why it needed to be refined several times before it could be fully absorbed for cultivation.

Of course, Long Di was well aware that his toxins were a result of something else entirely. The Monarch Gale Crow roast meat he ate post Heavenly Execution and the meals he partook in with Mad Sword Haoran was the cause here.

Did he care? Why should he? He didn’t give a damn. As a matter of fact, he was constantly on the lookout for something else that he could eat.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t think about this for now. He needed to get what he reckoned was the prize here and leave ASAP.

“Yuck.” He used his spiritual essence to cleanse himself of the toxins that were collected on his skin.

Luckily, there wasn’t a lot to clean up. After all, he controlled divine tribulation lightning. Though he didn’t actively use it to cleanse his body, it still had the properties of burning away impurities, so it still destroyed most of the impurities that would build up.

As of now, he was standing atop a platform of some kind that separated him from this place. He looked behind him and saw the portal spinning quietly.

‘Something tells me my previous show of power won’t be enough to keep those people at bay for long. I need to move fast.’

Without a word, Long Di leapt off the platform and onto the plains below. As soon as he landed, his brow experienced its final breakthrough and went to the next realm ahead of him.

“As I live and breathe,” his breath was nearly cut short as he realised that the grass that blanketed the stretch of land here wasn’t grass at all, but something else entirely. It was pills, all of it was pills!

These pills shimmered under the artificial sunlight here. This allowed it to appear like grass from a distance but the illusion was dispelled the moment Long Di got close to it.

“This place… is it all pills?” Long Di turned around in wonder. He quickly made his way to the river and looked closely to find that just like the grass, it was all pills. The only difference was that it was blue pills and countless ripples were on their surfaces.

Seeing this, it was no wonder that Long Di mistook it for a river from afar.

[The World is the Dao. The Dao of Alchemy. Alchemy is the Pill. The Pill is the Dao. The Dao is the World. It’s a Pill realm, not bad.]

Hearing the Destiny Scale, Long Di grew confused. “What’s that now?”

[A lot of things abide by a profound law,] the Destiny Scale explained. [Though it is rare, some alchemists are gifted enough to use pills for a variety of things. One of those things is Pill Realm Creation. This is a world built up of pills. Such a world would allow pills even low-tiered pills to survive and keep their efficiency for upwards of hundreds of thousands of years. I never thought I’d see this here outside of that place.]

“Neat.”

[You’re not going to ask me what that place is?]

“Why would I? It’s not like you’re gonna tell me. Remember, you said because of blah blah karma, blah blah not ready, blah blah bullshit.”

[I never said that.]

“But it’s not inaccurate, and don’t you think that’s worse somehow?”

[I won’t dignify that with an answer.]

“I’ll let that slide. What kind of pills are these anyway?” asked Long Di as he chose to forego to answer with the first thing that came to his mind.

[There are countless different types of pills here. If you take a careful look, you will see that even though all the pills that make up the ‘grass’ here are green, the patterns on them are slightly different.]

Hearing this, Long Di looked at the ‘grass’ closely and sure enough, it was true. Though the pills were all green, faint patterns that lay just beneath the surface could be made out that differentiated them.

Moreover, the shades of green differed slightly as well. It wasn’t as exaggerated as to say that every pill was different, but there was a wide variety here. The same went for the river as well, and most likely the mountains in the distance.

“Wow!”

“A-Are these all pills!?”

Several exclamations came from behind him, forcing him to look back. There, he saw the portal lighting up as more and more people kept pouring in.

“It looks like I can‘t take my time anymore,” Long Di sighed before an invisible wind kicked up around him.

[What are you doing?]

The Destiny Scale was confused by Long Di’s actions.

“Hold on, I don’t think I’ll be able to take everything from this realm even if I tried. Plus, I’m not greedy enough to take it all in either.”

[Keyholder…] The Destiny Scale was moved by Long Di’s noble and exemplary characte–

“With that being said, I’m not virtuous enough to leave without a pound of flesh from this place. I think I might be coming down with a disease that has plagued many a xianxia protag all these years. It is called the ‘see a treasure and can’t leave it alone disease.’ Truly it exists and has deigned to raise its ugly head.”

[Give me back my feelings you cur!] The Destiny Scale couldn’t believe it allowed itself to think for even an iota of a second that Long Di was doing anything in the name of honour!

The boy’s cognitive function operated on a different dimensional plane, it was sure of it!

Since he was used to the Destiny Scale’s random outbursts, Long Di didn’t take it to heart (not like he would otherwise) and kept his focus at its peak.

His spiritual force wrapped around one hundred of each type of pill that made up the grass here. When he was sure he got each of every single type, a magnificent sight greeted the cultivators who entered here.

A sea of green appeared in the sky. Before long, they all surged towards a single point, Long Di.

They all went into the storage rings he had no use for. It was like an emerald river coursing through the sky and a tinking sound continuously rang out when the pills.

“W-Wait, leave some for us!”

The other experts who just arrived saw all this and dived into the grass of pills. As soon as the first group did this, the others quickly followed.

They all did as Long Di did and started pumping their storage rings with pills.

Soon, the land was filled with cultivators excavating this pill realm for all its worth.

‘Something’s wrong!’ Long Di realised something with the pills in the storage rings.

The Destiny Scale saw it too. [Stop!]

Long Di immediately cut off the pills outside from his spiritual force, causing them to fall down like rain.

The other experts saw this, looked at Long Di and sneered. They thought that he bit more than he could chew and exhausted his spiritual force.

“Hmph! Serves him right!”

“This is the result of greed!”

They all bashed Long Di from a distance when they saw what befell them.

Of course, Long Di didn’t pay them any attention. All of it was poured on the pills inside the storage rings.

Thousands of pills were in his storage rings already. The combined amount in the first one could form a small hill. The only problem was that…

“They’re ruined. All of them.”
