“YOU’VE GOT TO BE SHITTING ME!”
“Her too!?”
****
The crowd’s astonishment turned to one of anger and jealousy.
What fresh hell was this!?
If there was a bona fide god in the cultivation world did this Long Di know him too!?
Why did this blacklisted, fish-eyed, my-emotion-is-dead, poster-child-for-NPCs everywhere have all these people behind him!?
Who was he!? The main character!?
Then, as if to convey the answer to that question, Qin Ling flicked her gaze to the Gatekeeper.
“No!” The Gatekeeper roared. He believed that these humans were trying to pressure him into letting Long Di in.
Qin Ling was stunned at the Ren'duan’s reaction. She didn’t even say anything!
“This forge looks very familiar,” Long Di’s voice drifted out and everyone looked over to see him deeply scrutinising the forge.
His words deeply shook the Ren'duan. “What did you say?”
The forge shouldn’t look anything like any forge in the outside world, but Long Di had indeed seen this forge many times. He had seen the shadow of it within his very own forge and saw even more of it within his master’s forge, or a part of it at least.
“Breaking Mundane Forging Heaven,” when Long Di uttered these words, the Ren'duan's heart trembled and his eyes narrowed at the young boy.
Without offering much of an explanation, he ordered Long Di. “Follow me.”
The crowd didn’t hear what Long Di said, but the Gatekeeper’s words rang loud and moved to stoke the fire of their already heated anger.
The fire ignited and blew apart what little restraints they had at the moment.
“How is this fair!?”
“This isn’t right!”
“Even if you’re the Gatekeeper, this is clearly favouritism!”
“I’m going in and there’s nothing you–”
Whoosh!
A bellow of flames escaped the jailed confines of the Gatekeeper’s forge-like midsection. The lashing of flaming tongues scorched the earth beneath them and silenced the cantankerous crowd in turn.
They looked at him with renewed fear as the heat alone showed them that he had power, power aplenty.
“Step foot in there and you will not be blacklisted…” the Gatekeeper started, the fire that escaped his mouth was like his anger given material form. He continued. “Because I’ll wipe you out forthwith!”
Did these people think that simply because he didn’t express much in the way of anger that he wouldn’t retaliate?
The hotheaded expert stepped back; fear took hold and dissuaded him from going any further. Not only him, everyone else who was thinking of making trouble here was cowed as they held their heads down, not wishing to meet his eyes.
Seeing their expressions, the Ren'duan sneered. He continued on for a while when he noticed that some of the people here were looking behind him.
He subconsciously looked behind himself to see Long Di, a fair distance behind him.
“What are you doing?” the Gatekeeper asked.
“I want my friends and a plus 2 to come with me,” Long Di told him.
The Gatekeeper’s eyes narrowed. “This isn’t a party. You can’t just bring your friends, and there isn’t a plus 2 policy here either.”
“I get that, but… and just hear me out here… let’s do it anyway,” countered Long Di.
“That is not how this works,” the Gatekeeper found it hard to not grind his teeth from dealing with Long Di.
Long Di nodded repeatedly, “Right… if that’s not how it works, it’s a sticky wicket. Tell you what, you don’t have to bring them in…”
Inwardly, the Gatekeeper sighed in relief… that is… until the last part of Long Di’s statement came out.
“I’ll bring them in.” He placed his hand on his chest like a demure maiden at the ‘I,’ part before he went on. “That’ll absolve you of any responsibility, right? Right! So I’ll take the blame for it. Come on, guys!”
He quickly called them over before the Gatekeeper could say anything. They quickly scuttled over before the pressure of the Ren'duan came crashing down once more.
“Hey, could you rein in the pressure there a little bit? You’re making it hard for them to scurry on over here. Thanks, Chadimus Chadius Chadidius.” Long Di cupped his fist.
A vein bulged on the Gatekeeper’s forehead. “Stop!”
“If they stop, how will they get over here?” asked Pebbles from atop Long Di’s head.
The Ren'duan was startled when Pebbles spoke. It just sat there with so little movement and little to no sound that he mistook it for an out-of-pocket ornament on this child.
“Well Pebbles, we’ve got to remember that this is the Chaddiest of all Chads. His chin rejects reality and causality simply by existing. I mean look at that thing. For all we know, when he says stop, it’ll somehow end up with them appearing by our side. Watch,” Long Di slapped the Ren'duan on the leg from behind before folding his arms in attempted but failed smugness. “We’ll wait right here, your Chadiness.”
The Ren'duan looked down at his leg, at the spot where Long Di slapped him and then at Long Di himself who stood a short distance before him with his back facing him and his hands folded like they were on the same side. He had an overwhelming urge to kick him so hard that his rectum would retire to his stomach and rethink life’s choices.
Long Di saw his gaze and commented, “So something about the way you’re looking at me makes me think you wanna hear me and–”
“Have your rectum go through therapy,” interjected Pebbles.
Long Di high-fived Pebbles saying, “couldn’t have said it better myself.”
It was here that the Gatekeeper had an epiphany. If he dealt with Long Di with the same standard as how he dealt with regular humans, he would die here. He was pretty sure his last brain cell was drunk while playing Russian roulette.
“They have to prove they can come. I will allow them to prove this now, but that is as far as I will allow.”
Violet Flame Noble and the others immediately got the message. They made their way to the front and even with this no one said anything.
After all, they were a team composed of three of the Five Nobles and the Divine Daughter. No one here had the guts to say anything about them just arriving and going first. This was how high their prestige was.
Normally, this would never happen. Not because of the crowd, but because of the rules imposed by the Ren’duans. Inwardly, these rules made these people happy, since even those who were above them in status had to stand and wait like the rest.
However, since they were now allowed in first, they could only sigh in dejection. Even if the Gatekeeper never did anything earlier, it would be the same.
Once they arrived, the Gatekeeper reluctantly went to his original spot where he vetted those who wished to enter the Ren'duan dwelling.
Long Di took the chance to stand beside him and sat down as well. It ended up with him kind of being in the way of the entrance to the dwelling, but the Gatekeeper didn’t say anything so no one dwelt on this.
The Gatekeeper waved his hand, and the first person to step forward was Ice Star Yun.
She executed a slight bow to the Gatekeeper who appeared aloof to her action, but she didn’t react in any adverse way as if this was expected.
She performed a few hand seals and a cold and chilly aura exploded out with her at the centre.
Dum!
Her cauldrons then emerged behind her. All nine of them were a striking orange, marking them as supreme-grade cauldrons. The pressure they continuously released couldn’t be faked.
Not only that, all four of them contained their core, and their purity was obvious at a glance.
“S-She’s already a Four Core Martial Master! As expected of one of the Five Nobles!”
“What incredible pressure!”
“I’ve never seen nine supreme-grade cauldrons before!”
“Look at the cores. They’re practically see-through!”
“But why release her cultivation base?” one person finally asked.
It was then that they realised that Wei Yun hadn’t released the hand signs she started at the beginning. Actually, she superimposed on the ones before and the pressure she released grew even stronger.
Some of the other cultivators even had to step back since it was too suffocating being so close.
It was then that other people realised that barring the other Nobles and the Divine Daughter — Mina and Xiannu Liang were practically unaffected by the pressure Wei Yun released.
They were shocked and internally wondered who these two women were.
Unfortunately, they didn’t get enough time to think about this as Wei Yun’s hands, after she finished her hand signs, lit up with a soft white light. It appeared extremely beautiful, however, people realised that there was a terrifying chill hidden within.
A faint trail of mist formed wherever her hands passed, signifying the level of coldness.
She then took out what appeared to be a black, fist-sized chunk of rock or metal. However, as soon as it appeared, the already cold temperature plummeted even further!
To the point where the area around Wei Yun froze, and ice spread out at an alarming rate!
Some people had to rush back just to avoid touching it, as they sensed something weird about it. Unfortunately, some were slower than others and weren’t able to avoid it in time.
As a result, they were instantly frozen, and no more life fluctuations could be felt.
When the crowd saw this, they sucked in a cold breath of air but coughed it up as it was too painful to breathe in. They weren’t even able to do what the peanut gallery did best!
They then refocused their gaze on the item Wei Yun had in her hands and a horrifying chill slowly gripped their divine senses trying to freeze it.
They quickly cut off their observation, and it was only then that they were able to see that small parts of their body were covered in frost!
This thing was too scary!
Just looking at it with their divine senses was enough to cause such an effect!?
Shen Ling and the others were fine as Violet Flame Noble was once more wreathed in violet flames like before. It burned furiously and kept the cold at bay, protecting everyone else.
Qin Ling appeared unbothered by it. The ice had spread beneath her feet and beyond, but it didn’t creep up on her in the slightest. It was as if ice itself was ignorant of her existence or saw her as more of itself.
Wei Yun then offered with both hands the white fist-sized chunk of rock or metal to the Gatekeeper.
The cold didn’t seem to affect him, either. He inspected it for a second before subtly nodding, seemingly in approval.
“Soul Ice Yin Metal. You may enter.”
