B-Bam!

Several loud explosions took place, and we all walked over to see Tie Lang, Jia Yan, and Feng Yu, all engaged in combat against a particularly vicious beast!

****

Now here I was, standing atop a cliff of sorts, watching a fight taking place that honestly…? I was impressed by.

I spotted Yaomu Shou some distance away, sitting on a rock, observing Tie Lang, Jia Yan, and Shen Ling fighting a magical beast. She had a sword in hand, but it wasn’t the usual purple rapier she always had, but a more normal-looking sword in comparison.

She was armed but wasn’t fighting and I guess it was because if she fought, it wouldn’t be much of a fight.

Zi Yu stood behind her, looking like some attendant ready to serve at any time. Man, ever since she and I divorced, her life went downhill.

Now the magical beast was similar to a salamander appearance-wise, but it was much, much bigger than a normal one. Not only that, it was completely red and there was a slick, oily look to it. All in all, it looked like moving lava in the shape of a salamander.

It also radiated monstrous heaps of heat energy that was extremely dangerous to most cultivators. Luckily, Feng Yu and the others practised a cultivation technique centred around fire-attributed spiritual energy, so they had some resistance against this heat.

Last but not least, there was a semi-transparent sac that was located below its jaw that expanded and contracted in line with its breathing.

Thanks to the bestiary, I knew that this was a rank three Red-Skinned Salamander. Now I don’t wanna be THAT guy, but the people who came up with the name for these things are profoundly lazy.

Anyway, since this is at the third rank, then it was equal to a Martial Disciple in aura alone.

Of course, its power, like most magical beasts, was a level higher than that.

Their naturally strong defensive capabilities and great strength granted them this boon. The only ones able to fight with them at the same rank would be geniuses capable of fighting above cultivation level, but such geniuses were quite rare.

So even though the three disciples were all at the Cauldron Forging realm, they were, in essence, fighting a vicious Core Formation realm cultivator.

Hopefully, they can be like me and overachieve.

Shu!

Feng Yu, who by now was riddled with injuries and burn marks, charged the salamander and could feel the heat assaulting her. The land all around was suffering from blackened scorch marks, and it was obvious who the culprit was.

Seeing that Feng Yu engaged it in a dead-on assault, the red-skinned salamander practically smirked in response.

Shing!

Suddenly, its sac expanded and began to glow bright red. It opened its mouth and a light could be seen from deep within, growing increasingly bright.

Jia Yan seemed to have expected this and tightened his grip on the axe before he took off in a mad dash!

He was approaching from the back and the axe he wielded, along with its incredible weight, slowed him down, but it was just about good enough.

He leapt far in the air and signalled for everyone to get ready!

The light from within came into view, revealing a massive fireball!

Before it could leave its mouth, however, Jia Yan’s massive axe came crashing down, trapping its own fireball inside!

Boom!

“Screeeeee!!!!!!”

Several explosions went off, followed by an ear-piercing screech!

Obviously, this tactic left a whole lot of damage and the Red-Skinned Salamander thrashed around, revealing for a moment, its large sac clear for all to see.

Shu!

Suddenly, right on cue, Tie Lang appeared in front of the massive beast with his target clearly being the sac under its throat.

“Cunning Barbarian Shivering Claw Strike!”

And no, I will not expound on why he chose to shout that apart from telling you all that this is the name of that attack. I bought it for him at the auction.

I am also 90% sure that the creator was tripping on LSD when he did that and it gives a whole new meaning to the term ‘wise sages of old.’

His claws lit up with a silverish glow as he went batshit crazy on the sac in the little moment it was exposed!

The attack ravaged the sac with huge gashes that caused it to flap about. The Red-Skinned Salamander released a guttural croak as blood flowed like a river from the sac’s opening.

It fell to the ground with a crash and could no longer move. Its lifeblood flowed seemingly without end, taking with it its life.

Everyone appeared happy with the results. Even Yaomu Shou was pleased as she brought them around fighting magical beasts at a rate that I am sure would summon eco-conservatives from all over.

Feng Yu brandished her sword and was walking over to extract its core, known as the Beast Xin, when, without warning, a sword light came flying towards her.

I mean, I saw all of this, but I really wanted to see how they handled this on their own.

“Cunning Barbarian Shivering Claw Strike!”

I wonder if anyone would have a problem with me abbreviating these things. Yet CBSCS rolls off the tongue even less somehow.

Tie Lang arrived in a split second and used his claws to block the sword slash!

“Tie Lang!” Jia Yan ran over as he could see that Tie Lang’s hands were now a mangled mess!

A cold voice rang out, dripping with malice and filled with disdain.

“Taking so long to slay a single Red-Skinned Salamander, truly useless. Now scram!”

[Author's Note; The character 心] or Xin means heart, mind, or even core in Chinese. The ancient Chinese believed the heart was the centre of human cognition. I wanted to use this to signify the core of the beast’s being in its entirety, hence the term Beast Xin.]
