“My Lord!” All the gods present vacated their seats to execute a bow. The Messenger was no different.
A figure appeared at the head of the table. As if he was always there, this was their Lord.

It was a middle-aged man that looked no different from anyone else on the street of a mortal town. He was average in every aspect, height, race, looks and even bearing. He was average to the point where he was no longer average, a staggering contradiction that he bore naturally.
“Well, Messenger,” he lazily called out to the God. “Is lost correct?”
The Messenger shivered when their Lord addressed him, but he didn’t dare to continue this subject.
The Lord decided against making it hard on his subordinate and turned his attention to the prisoner before him. “Your betrayal wounds me, Goddess of Fate and Destiny.”
“You are a disgrace,” she said with a smile on her face.
“You sentenced me to an eternity of stripping just because I found out the truth. I know what you truly are. I know what you did,” she spat out the last few words with venom.
The Messenger took umbrage for his Lord. “You—”

A blow struck the Messenger when he chose to berate the Goddess of Fate and Destiny.
He crashed into the walls of the palace. The walls were fine, but the Messenger had fine cracks spreading all over his body.
“Who said you could speak?” the calm voice of the Lord drifted out. He had his eyes closed with a smile on his face.
He then turned his attention back to the Goddess, eyes closed all the same. “The destiny and fate suffused in your every action are as alluring as ever. A pleasure to observe and listen to.”
“Being driven into quiet insanity on that world because of what you had me do, now you won’t allow him peace in his next life!?” The Goddess of Fate and Destiny asked.
“Naturally, it matures faster that way,” the Lord said matter-of-factly. “What it has, I need. Furthermore, what was that animal to do, I wonder?”
